The US has somehow gotten lost in electronic noise and tuneless talking, while Europe is now the master of true rock and roll. The art lives on, thank goodness! This is wonderful!
Page did the solo on Sea of Love and Beck did Rockin at Midnight for the Honeydrippers album. I do not think Brian Setzer was on it but no doubt Plant is a fan!
This is a perfect storm of shakin', shufflin', swingin', slidin', jumpin', rock-a-boogie blues! Plant feels it, wears it, rips it up!!! True enough that man can't live off bread alone. But give a man bread and boogie? ... maybe!
@SwampDaddy7 ? ? ? As far as I'm aware, Jeff Beck played all the guitar parts on that album, I remember reading a Brian Setzer interview, a long time ago, where he said he was meant to play on the album but that it was being recorded while he was on honeymoon with his first wife.
@SwampDaddy7 Setzer played 2 songs with the Honeydrippers on "Saturday Night Live", December 1984. I definately dont think he's on the album, if he was, he would surely have mentioned somewhere down the years. I've seen Setzer several times over the years and back in 1989, I saw the Stray Cats playing in London and Robert Plant was in the audience, my friend and I , spoke to him and got his autograph. Again in 2004, saw the Stray Cats in London, and Plant was in the audience.
Robert Plant always has shown love to Boogie Woogie and Rock and Roll from the fabulous fifties!!!!! Jools Holland is one of my favorite pianists, here he really let's it rip!!!!!! I love it!!!!
deserves every bit of success that has happened in his life,,,there's much more to discover in music than just rehashing old zep tunes,,,,,he just loves music and loves to perform!!! he's a true musician!!!

I wish Robert Plant recorded something with Brian Setzer
theburdcotter 1 year ago
@theburdcotter He did. The Honeydripper sessions have Setzer's guitar spiked all in that album.

@theburdcotter I think they put him in as a guest appearance, but I saw footage of them live.

You're thinking of Paul Shaffer who's on Letterman. This is the wonderful percussionist Ray Cooper. And you're right, they do resemble each other!
