  • haha reminds me of the older generation, always moaning, eee I tell thee, used to be all fields this a few years back.

  • Thank you for this, I love it. I am a Barnsley lass.

  • This was absolutely fantastic, classic old boy story. Got the accent bang on too. The Hovis theme tune proper finished it off. *salutes.

  • it reminds me of my grandad, i love him :(

  • eee dear in't it lovely :). All the old boys round me speak like that still... apparently I'm not that far off myself according to my mates, still say chip oil, water's watter and father's... well you can't write it but you know what I mean. I definitely know people not much older than me in the north dales who still speak so strong it's almost another language, so it in't deein yet!

  • @dietnik

you used to watch it everyday?

that just shows that you didnt take a blind bit of notice of the programm... because it isnt the bradshaws at all!

completely different accent for a start...

  • @AntonijeZ Ah shut up ya bloody prude, tis a shame that music tainted the masterpiece that is the Yorkshire accent!

  • It's called "Capstick comes home!"

  • lol

  • I believe thats a recording by Tony Capstick from Radio Sheffield made some years ago. Absolutely Brilliant !

  • I'm from Yorkshire and I've only ever met old men that talk like this, it's no where near as broad these days. Although my dad does call it a 'chip oil'. Good video!

  • @emilyishh It's a barnsley/sheffield accent, I'm from rotherham. top vid by the way.

  • I am fascinated with accents. Always got A's for phonetics and accents at university. This is utterly mesmerisin'! I bleedin' luv it. Thanks for sharing :)

  • I can understand every word that's being said. My Dad was from Yorkshire. I've never been there but it's all as clear as a bell.

  • 'e wo a reet taty me fatha

  • ricketts, diptheria......hitler lol

  • What was' name u' that one, member i' as a wee lad in Bradistan.

  • I want this accent!!! I come from York yet have a very generic English accent (which is slowly being affected by the Kiwis :P)

But I've always wanted a proper Yorkshire accent.

  • Twa greeyt wa that, tha noz !!!!

  • i speak yorkshire accent cos my mother is from south yorkshire connisbrough doncaster near sheffield

  • YORKSHIRE!!! NOT MANCHESTER!!

  • Yeah that's a yorkshire accent not mancunian.

  • The voice is that of Tony Capstick, a folk singer and radio presenter who had a South Yorkshire accent. Nothing like Mancunian, I'm afraid

Manchester is, indeed, in Lancashire, but Greater Manchester comprises parts of south Lancashire and north Cheshire

  • i know i live in denton mate

  • Anywhere near The Angel?

  • yep mate ..its ok innit round there..dont go in last orders tho near crown point cos its a bit rough lol

  • to be exact...a little town called barnsley.

  • @oasis11991

    i live in barnsley

  • Barnsley... little? Y'gotta bi jokin' ant ya.

  • i wouldnt exactly compare it to the likes of sheffield and leeds etc....

  • @oasis11991 i would consider it to be from sheffield cos thats were its from as am i it was ment as a joke of the old times i had the record all them years ago and if you realy listen its ment to be around 1900 well before hitler and other things but it was made in the early 70s i think but whot a great song

  • Manchester is in the County of Lancashire, Gtr Manchester is made up of Lancashire and Cheshire

  • Manchesta was in Lancasha.. it aint now...

    Historically Manchesta's Lancasha.

Nowt Lancasha represents/adminsters what's now Greater Manchesta. Tha's only t'cricket team... but nowt much else.

  • Manchester is in Lancashire, but I have to say that the accents is more off to the hills where I am from as too the inner city Manchester

but than you for the comment

  • I love accents. I guess it is only an accent if you don't have the same one! Dang women playing bingo all day. I admit I had a hard time understanding it, but it was beautiful.

  • oh you so could be right but the clip did not mention it i dont think,

i was searching for the Going Home song and found it bless

  • @PalmOliveSoap it wasnt monty python as this was made by a true yorkshire man i forget his name and hovis i think took the tune from this but the tune was always around for years it was made by a old pit band and as we know there is no more pits mores the pitty haha excuse the pun hahaha
