Having a hard time leveling up because the second open D (low string) on the riff never registers. Did you have a problem with that? Maybe I need to stop the ring of the top string from the first hit, I let it ring until I come back up and just hit it again. Your notes sound a lot more separated. Other than that I might try my plug in acoustic and see if that picks up better. Nice job on this, with the harmonics and all that is going to be tough for me if I can even get it up to that level.
@matrox999 Usually, if you max out a song, you'll remember it pretty well because its not easy to play the full tab for most of the songs in rocksmith (it requires hours and hours of repetition).
You now what would've been really cool, if this game allowed you to put your own tracks on to it and the game is able to pick up all the sounds, riffs, chords ect. So that way you can literally learn any song you wanted.
Tell me something, I'm just curious. It doesn't sound like you are muting on the main riff. I'm asking because I'm working on this myself, and I think it's going to be very difficult to mute consistently and then un-mute to get that harmonic to ring out, then mute again and so on.That's a great performance, but it would make me fell better to know that the muting part (with harmonic) is downright difficult. I love your vids. You've set a standard.
@Javasaur13 I don't remember how much muting was done during the recording of this, but the game can sometimes not register notes with a heavy palm mute like I usually do. I find that I have to palm mute much closer to the bridge and about half as much pressure for the game to still register the notes correctly. This song is all about having a "light touch". Likely what will happen is that your harmonic won't ring out as long as you lay your hand down to mute. Light, loose playing with hand.
@1983electric That's kind of what I'm thinking. You have to quickly lift up your hand to "un-mute" for the harmonic and then lay it back down again. It's too much for me. I've mastered the main riff, but I don't care to try to both mute and work in that harmonic. I'm still trying to refine my playing of it. Even though I've mastered it, I'm still not quite there.
Interesting song to learn guitar. Never expected that song to be in the game. It would have been sick if Rocksmith chose The Warmth, an awesome song from the same Incubus album.
hey can you tell me your setup? and xbox set up. I am having a lot of problems with this song. I'm not sure if it's my active pick ups, 52-10 strings or the fact that i didn't split my audio yet, but this game doesn't reconize a lot of my notes on the chorus. and I'm playing it right.
@bleeatch i read a comment from somebody yesterday who has a guitar with active pickups; his solution was to lower down the tone knob a little less than halfway
@DigitalPimpSlap Yeah that was me... I really have to lower the volume and tone a lot on my guitar or it just overpowers the game. I use Ernie Ball Super Slinkies right now - they are 9's. Just try to turn down your guitar :)
@bleeatch I was having problems with the pre-chorus, but I think it turned out to be a matter of technique. I think sometimes if you let an open string keep ringing, it can confuse the note recognition. There's a part where you play a G flat right after playing the open G. My guess is that the dissonance creates a lot of beat tones that messes up the note recognition. I found I got 100% success when I folded my finger down and killed the open G string. It sounds better too.
Easily the best track list on any music game today. Incubus, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Franz Ferdinand, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, Nirvana, The Strokes, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silversun Pickups, Spoon, Interpol, Kings of Leon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Muse, Soundgarden.......
Anyway, nice playin' man. Keep the videos coming.
I have this song down completely...minus the Harmonics. And of course there's 900 of them in this song. ...fun

@1983electric I just realized, you can also get that same harmonic with your little finger on the 7th fret G string.
