Quick pointer to save a HUGE amount of time and increased accuracy...

Save your PS text as a .jpeg (or .png if you want a trans background). Then drag that saved .jpeg file from explorer/finder into AI. On the top bar you should see the option to "Live Trace", hit the drop down arrow next to live trace and select the last option for ultimate control. Hit 'preview' in the box that pops up to see the tracing result.

once that is traced hit 'expand' and it will now be a series of paths. EASY!

AI uses vectors which instead of pixels are actually worked in lines, just like flash. No matter how much you zoom in it won't downgrade in quality. That's why many graphic designers use AI to make logos.

Can you get in trouble for using some1's logo but in the end no1 can tell u used a logo and the owner hasn't put any information about the logo. Such as if it is free or even who made it.

On YouTube I guess you can get away with it. But I always recommend that you are original and make your own things. Are you looking to get a logo for yourself? You don't even need illustrator to do that

Basically what you are doing is creating vector paths

To do it in PhotoShop:

Ctrl/Cmd click on the layer preview (creates a selection based on the shape of the layer)

Now with you marquee tool out, right click on the selection and click "Make work path"

Now go to File->Export->Paths to Illustrator

Now it will make that AI file using perfect quality vector paths

Trust me there's more to Photoshop than you know.. There's whole books with hundreds of pages on just a few areas of Photoshop, there's no way you know 90% of it or you would be doing way better things with it than you know at the moment.

Also same with Illustrator there's a lot to it, it's not hard to learn to be able to do some nice things with it. The reason it's not pixelated is because they are vector graphics and use paths rather than pixels.

Illustrator is popular because it creates vector images that will not pixilate. So you don't have to create a logo for print in photoshop at 300 dpi, you can just create a vector in illustrator.
