from what i can tell the oil boilers have somewhat different sound characteristics than the w bikes from 93 and up. the slingshot oil boilers have that gnarly growl while w and up models have a smoother "rush of power" kinda noise.

I had a 91 that had the same paint as yours, I even had the same tail piece instead of a passenger seat. Man that bike turned some heads on cruise night.
I miss my old air/oil gsxr. Had a 1991 1100 that was punched to 1216 with megacycle cams and RS40 carbs and yosh race pipe (really loud). Ended up making about 150 hp on a dynojet. Good times on that bike.
Cool bike, just bought a 92 1100 (1216) to be exact just like yours. Jetted carbs to stage 3, yoshimura carbon fiber( sounds pretty much the same like yours, just a little louder), timing advancer, lots of polished parts, frame, swingarm, etc...I am going to chrome the rimes wich are currently black, and add galfer wave rotors. Once I am done with it, I am going to upload a video here of it here, so stay tuned. With the increase to 1216 cc, it is as fast as hell!!!
The GSX-R(s)87-88 are with air cooling system wich in a famous sense is good,the engine have a better cooling when is hot,as the summer.Idk i think that the 87-88 are better than the 90+.Suzuki GSX-R 1100 87 (old school) :)
I never could and will understand why the decals on the Gixxer say "R-GSX" when the Suzuki (Suzy-Q as my darn dad jokingly calls them) is really called the GSX-R. Even so, this 92-95 design is one of my FAVs.
I don't know what it is, but nothing sounds quite like the gixxers. Can't wait until mine's finished and on the road. The Yoshi's pretty mental, I may need earplugs!
like a ducati has it's own sound and the gixxers have their own then the zx's have theirs, and then the r's have their own, i own a 1098 and love the sound, but then when i see gixxers, i love their sound. but of course u can't compare them, i like the older gixxers personally.

91 and 92 were identical except graphics, then the Gixxer's got fat and water cooled...

I updated my 90 with a 92 front end kept the 90 rear. Yours is nice I opted for the Yosh exhaust in lieu of V&H.
