yes, you don't need the shirt, u can use a double jack to connect mp3 player, and btw, the sub wooder looking thing on the shirt is housing, a speaker is inside, so for those who thought you would have a 3" strapped to ur chest, ur out of luck

I got one for christmas, and as some sort of manufacturing fluke, mine has pretty good sound quality, and take it from me, I'm an audiophile: using jbl daisy chained to logitech surround for typical listening, to two 18" yamaha subs, and a whole bunch of pioneer and beringer soft dome and mids, professionaly, so ya take it from me, for what its worth, its good. nonetheless I cant wash it cause I feel like I'm gonna break it when I try the wires b/w speaker and battery box

I just recieved one of these today, I only set it up about 10 minutes ago, I haven't done much with it other than put batteries in it, test it and then back up the audio files, I intend to use this with my MP3 player. The SD card that came with mine was 128 MB, the default sounds are on the card, so no sounds will play when no card is inserted.

@hynmay There is an audio line input on the T-shirt, it's on the battery pack so you can certainly use your iPod with the T-shirt. In fact I bought mine with the intention of mostly using it with my MP3 player.

@hynmay I've only had mine for 24 hours now, so it's still working, but last night I walked into a door frame and dented the speaker cone which I'm not happy about, thankfully it still works. I had better take good care of it and it had better last a long time because the total price of the T-shirt came to over $75 Australian to get it posted via UPS from the US to Australia, so I'll be mighty angry if mine fails as quickly as yours did, did you return yours to ThinkGeek?

I read the instructions and I still don't get how to wash that shirt. I can't pull the cable neither from the speaker nor from the battery pack. On the back of the speaker I can't even see where the cable is plugged in coz there's plastic over it,

I hekka love this shirt its pretty good!!! Its better if you had a double audio cord so you can play you music from a mp3 . I always bring my double audio cord, its better so you don't so you dont have to write over you other tracks

question??? if you have an sd card in can you still play some of the sound effects that come with it or are you limited to only the stuff on your card?

All of the default sounds are also stored on an SD card. It would be possible to put the SD card into your computer and import all of the sounds for use with other sounds on different cards, but that's about it.

Full songs can definitely be put on the shirt; the only limit in that regard is the size of your SD card.

Hmm well can you tell me more about the drum shirt? do the sounds have delays? do the buttons click or what? cause i saw a bunch of utube videos of it and it seems to have delays , i dont know if its the people that suck or its the shirt.

Sorry for the delayed response; the drum shirt that I had was pretty difficult to get a sound out of, and the hit detection on it was pretty bad. There weren't any clicking sounds or anything, but it was pretty low quality otherwise.

If i put the sounds of a snare drum for #1 the bass drum for #2

and the hi hat for #3 and i try to play it on the shirt will it have any delays? like are the buttons really responsive?

and i dont like the other drum shirt the snare sucks.

I haven't used the shirt for awhile, but I do believe that there is a short, yet noticeable, delay between switching songs and sounds (especially when you're using its loop function for a small sound byte). Drum rhythms would more than likely not work out on them.

I was going to do a review for the ThinkGeek drum shirt, but since it would have been more negative than positive, I didn't want to potentially disturb anybody planning on buying one.

The sound quality of the speaker is pretty good; I haven't tried any bass-heavy songs with it, but none of the intense moments in songs that I have used made the speakers crackle or anything. It will give off a "cheaper laptop speaker" type of sound, though, with things appearing to be slightly tinny.

I haven't tried it with an MP3 player, but I do believe that it is possible. If I remember correctly, you need to purchase an auxiliary cable to make it properly work, though.

So, the speaker is Velcro. Does this mean the sound comes out of the little thing that has the sound track and the on button?

Nope, all of the sounds come out of the speaker. The speaker itself is made out of plastic, but it is attached to the shirt with a few wires and Velcro (you can remove the whole speaker if you need to wash the shirt, as well).

You can put any MP3-based file you want on, meaning that both songs and sound effects work.

The default sounds bites and loops that the shirt plays are preloaded onto a brandless SD card with about 256 MB of memory. It definitely has enough space to fit most of your sound clip and song needs, so I wouldn't worry about using your 2 GB card on it.

Sorry, but the shirt does not have a USB port on it. A lot of computers don't come with SD card slots, though, which is why there are a variety of USB-based SD card readers on the market. They're not too expensive, either; high quality ones can go for as low as $10.

My recommendation to you would be the Kodak MobileMate SD+ reader, which reads both regular and mini SD and SDHC cards. You might want to read up on its compatibility with Macs, though.

Anyways, it works pretty good with my iPod, good for a shirt at least. Although, when I got it I had to call technical support to get it working, turns out you had to put tinfoil in some of the versions. Overall, I think it's a cool shirt to have. I think if you want you should spend like 5-10 dollars on a male-to-male wire from RadioShack

Yep, there's a line-in port labeled "Input" by the cables on the top edge of the battery unit. Sadly, I do not have an auxiliary cable to try it out with, but I'm assuming that plugging in any media player with one will allow you to play its sound through it. Sorry that I can't help out much beyond that!
