If we are so steadfast in the church getting back to their mandate, then it should start with ourselves? The church is us, NOT A BUILDING? Isn't the body of Christ a family??? The bible mandates that we should love each other as Christ loves the church. We are so busy tearing each other down that it's no wonder the local church is not effective. The mandate is building families? Often times it is the venom of people who call themselves christians that tear families down and destroy things.

@whitelyt - if we r to take the Word of God seriously, then we must be HONEST about the fact that this is a war, The TRUE Church (local or global) is extremely effective because the TRUE Church operates on the same level as the church in Luke-Acts, why dont you explain why The Lord JESUS CHRIST used the term "vipers" or why Paul called people out by name! Judgment is here and just because you dont want to see it doesnt mean that these FALSE ministers will not feel the wrath of the ALMIGHTY!

What makes a pope a pope? Or a cardinal? Or an apostle? Or a bishop or deacon?  What makes a pastor a pastor? Any man or woman that is truly called by God to speak His work and do His work should be supported and not condemned. A bishop is a spiritual overseer beyond the local congregation. Pastors oversee the local congregation. Doesn't pastors need spiritual guidance? Or do we set them on pedestals so high that they are beyond oversight?

@whitelyt- Satan makes a pope a pope, and lets get some church history correct...bishops did NOT start off overseeing BEYOND localities, the territorial "bishop" is a Roman Catholic invention and the OFFICE of a pastor is not an OFFICE at all, it is a SPIRITUAL GIFTING, study Ephesians 4, this is WHY there was a protestant reformation in the first place, it seems as if people dont want to READ the WORD of GOD for themselves they rather believe the LIES that Wolves tell them

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I do agree that some self appoint themselves as bishops. Not in this case. A group of pastors (over 30) wanted him to be head overseer of their ministries. They nominated him. He did not nominate himself. We should not criticize if we don't know the facts. It is amazing that we are so quick to judge and condemn. Who are we to condemn??? No one on here is named Jesus. Isn't all about doing God's work?

@whitelyt - If u studied The Word of God for yourself you would know that to CONDEMN is different than to JUDGE... just like in court the sentencing and ruling are two different things, you are convicted of the crime (Judgment) and then there is a sentence to punish you (Condemnation)! we should not Condemn BUT judgment is nessecary, John 7:24 "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment"

Although it is true that peter was crucified, it is not known as fact whether he ws crucified upside down.. saints the Apostolic line of succession to the throne of Christ, has becomwe blurred with traditional imput, I tend to believe that since we are seated with Jesus in heavenly places, and since he has said that what ever we ask in his name he will do it, then our level of importrance concerning this matter should be tempered with tolerance and repect... It's difficult to truly explain something this complex over a youtube posting, so I hope wiki can answer or clarify any questions you have on this subject that I may not have answered clearly enough. Just type in Apostolic Succession on wikipedia or Historic Episcopate. You also might want to Type Episcopal Church or Anglican Communion

@mountedmarine only recently have certain Anabaptist (baptists/pentecostal) Christians brought back the episcopacy. However for nearly 5 centuries Anabaptists rejected all forms of sacramental ordination and episcopate, thus breaking the line of succession. In order to regain this, there needs to be bishops ordained by ATLEAST 1 bishop in apostolic succession(ideally 3 bishops).There also needs to be a belief in the Real Presence of Christ in Communion as without it, the episcopate is pointless.

@mountedmarine There are various lines of succession, there are Roman Lines, Anglican Lines, Eastern Christian lines, Coptic Orthodox Lines... all tracing back to the various apostles. During the Reformation of the 16th century, the majority of Protestants (with the exception of Anglicans and Lutherans) rejected an ordained priesthood and a sacramental episcopate under the belief that all christians are 'priests' and there is no need for an ordained priesthood. Thus they abolished the episcopacy

Anglicans, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, & some Lutheran branches Retain apostolic succession, (the spiritual lineage of bishops traced back to the apostles through the unbroken line of laying on of hands.) The majority of Protestants (in particular baptists/pentecostals) reject this theology as they feel it contradicts the priesthood of all believers

Under who or what authority, the would be Jesus Christ who has supreme authority. How many lines? Well how many lineage lines are there tracing back to Abraham or even Adam for that matter? Does it just stop at one son? If so there is a good chance both you and I would not even be here. Google the phrase Apostolic Succession.

Just so you know, the OFFICIAL teaching of the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on NON CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS is that although they are IN PARTIAL ERROR, they are ALSO in PARTIAL TRUTH, thus, they can attain Salvation just as a Roman Catholic would. ALSO, this goes for NON CHRISTIAN religions as well! The belief being that Christ LIVEs in someone EVEN IF THEY R UNAWARE OF IT, (Anonymous Christianity). Although I am NOT a Roman Catholic, I know FOR A FACT this is the RC position.

@Nuduaspiagia... yes, you are correct that Bishop Vann does NOT have apostolic succession (the historic episcopate). None the less, to HIS flock, he serves as Cheif Pastor and 'Bishop". His view of what a bishop is and what makes a bishop is different from the Catholic/Orthodox/Anglican(Epi­scopal) view of what a bishop is. It's like comparing apples to oranges. And although I too am bothered by the wearing of Sacramental vestments, if they are preaching Gods Word, Ultimately thats what counts!

As a member of the Episcopal Church, I'm partly flattered that Protestant Christians of Non Liturgical traditions admire OUR traditions such as bishops consecrations and the wearing of copes and miters and crucifixes. However, I'm partly bothered by this, as I feel these Christians, are perhaps stealing OUR traditions in order to Trick others into thinking they are us! That upsets me a little..I hope this Bishop makes clear that he is NOT an Episcopal Bishop! May God bless him in his ministry!

@smurfigee St. Peter was crucified, but, knowing he did not deserve to die in the manner our Lord died, he chose to be crucified upside down. St. Peter was the first pope and ordained many deacons, priests, and bishops in Rome and other places. Rome was the see in which he died as bishop with Linus succeeding him. There is only one Church, the holy Catholic Church, which alone was established by Christ and alone is guarded by the Holy Spirit.

@musa34 The ideas you have expressed were invented in the 16th century. Protestants are wrong, and rejection of Catholicism unto the last moment of life results in eternal damnation. Notice, this does not mean ignorance of Catholicism, but actual rejection of it. If you are truly Christian, then you are Catholic.
