Where does Jesus say in that verse that you attain salvation by keeping His commandments? You're reading that into His words, He never said that. A person who IS saved, and thus loves the Lord, WILL keep the commandments; that's what Jesus is talking about there. Jesus said we are saved by "believing in Him" (John 3:16)

Cause John 3:16 is not questionable; it is in each and ever manuscript while 1 John 5:7 is not. This doesn't mean the Trinity isn't true; it is seen clearly in Scripture. It just means that this verse is not in the original text.

Don't you realize when you insist that doing good works gets you into heaven, you are short changing Christ's death where he won our forgiveness of our sins. Your equation for Catholicism is false. Love, i.e. charity, i.e. good works are a product of grace and so is faith. In a product equation if one part is zero then the resultant is zero and so without faith and without works one is not saved because one has not responded to the grace given. Now in your equation if works are zero one still has salvation and the sum is nonzero and so one is saved. But this is non-biblical because even the demons believe.
Do you even read what I say. I say that works and faith are a product of grace. Your overemphasis on faith in your equation points to your problem. Faith is as much something in us as the works you feel compelled to deny are a part of salvation. The bible says salvation is by grace through faith working out in love. Grace producing faith and works is hte cause of salvation. GOOD Works are motivated by grace and so is faith and so there is no reason to deny them .

Protestants proved to be every bit as rigid and intolerant as Catholics, and the Reformation was fueled as much by greed as it was by piety. The reformists focused on Scripture, but Christ did not write a book. He founded a Church based on Scripture, sacred tradition, and the teachings of the Fathers. All 3 legs are necessary for the Church to stand AS the Church, and God is with His Church - Luther forgot this

BUT at some point in time, Luther came up with Protestantism, and it was ultemintly the creation of a very confused man. It is absolutely needless for the veneration of Saints. In fact, St Peter and St Paul were literally worshipped by the masses that saw miracles performed through them. They had to denounce themselves and give glory to Christ for the miracles. Eg. the people of Lystra Greece upon St Paul's evangelism.
Man was created in the image of God, "to do greater works" than Christ did. Martin Luther paved the way for salvation by faith, and not by works. Just like Abraham was righteous, by FAITH.

Your equation for Catholicism is false. Love, i.e. charity, i.e. good works are a product of grace and so is faith. In a product equation if one part is zero then the resultant is zero and so without faith and without works one is not saved because one has not responded to the grace given. Now in your equation if works are zero one still has salvation and the sum is nonzero and so one is saved. But this is non-biblical because even the demons believe.

Do you even read what I say. I say that works and faith are a product of grace. Your overemphasis on faith in your equation points to your problem. Faith is as much something in us as the works you feel compelled to deny are a part of salvation. The bible says salvation is by grace through faith working out in love. Grace producing faith and works is hte cause of salvation. GOOD Works are motivated by grace and so is faith and so there is no reason to deny them .

Protestantism has a 1500 year historical gap. It's source is division and it's fuel is division. From Luther and company to today there are up to 33,000 new denominations. This is not of God if you read 1 Cor 1 and other passages. Luther's pride caused him to assert his personal opinions on scripture, just as it did for Joseph Smith, Ellen G. White, Calvin, Zwingli, Arius, etc.

With respect, 'Protestantism' is a word applied to people who woke up from an 1100 year captivity by the Roman government. If you want to take 'the church' back to it's source; Roman Catholicism didnt officially declare doctrinal supremecy for itself until it aligned with the Roman government 100s of years after Christ. You can group all non-catholics together if you want and label them as the rebels; the truth is that it is the Catholic church that departed in the first place.

Is it better to unite under the hierarchical rule of someone who has departed from scripture's clear teaching, or is it better to depart from true heresy? All of your arguments rest on the presupposition that the Roman catholic church is THE church. You can not substantiate that BY scripture except by means of a drastic over-interpretation of and expounding upon a small passage in order to argue the notion of 'apostolic succession'; and a greater dependency upon the traditions of men.

It's no problem for Catholics either. We are judged on the Godly lives we lead. Agreed. That is what Matt 25 says as well. If it were faith alone we would be judged stricly on our faith. Rather we are judged on the outcome of our faith. That's pretty clear from scripture.
