You can't play a FPS on kinect... there is no 360 degree movement. In that star wars demo the shit sucked cuz the movement was controlled by the computer, not realistic. The droids were shooting at the kid at the e3 convention while he was playing star wars and he took no damage from the shots fired. Kinect is for kids. Kobe bryant used the move ;-)

Besides driving in casual modes, Kinect in Forza 4 offers head tracking (which works far better than PSEye in GT5), voice commands, Alta Vista mode etc. Mass Effect 3 uses Kinect's voice recognition for dialog and gameplay, where you give commands to your squad. PS3 & PC version will not have this. So you won't play FPSs using Kinect ONLY, just as you don't drive in GT5 using Move, but like in FZ4 & ME3, Kinect ADDS extra features, and that's how it will be used in FPSs :)
let me give you an example. lets just say that i broke my leg and i'm in a cast. i'm in a wheelchair and i have to rest my foot. now, with kinect you cant stand up so how will i play? exactly so i recommend move because kinect is just kinect. but still kinect is cool just think about it ya know i think we shouldn't even be fighting about this. i have no experience with kinect but i really think move is on the better side according to a chart comparing all wii kinect and of course move

This has now been solved, hence it's no longer a problem, therefore gamers can play games like Child of Eden or use head tracking in Forza (or driving in casual modes) sitting down. And we can all describe situations where you cannot use a certain type of controller because of accidents :) But yes, both Kinect and Move are great controllers, just different.

How are you suppose to play fighting games like Street Fighter with a mouse and keyboard? :-) Each controller type has it's strengths and weaknesses, none are perfect for every type of game. That said, Kinects works with the controller too, and MS have confirmed many 'hybrid' games in development, hence in a FPS a gamer can use the 360 controller as always with Kinect adding extra features. Let's wait and see :-)
i agree with the other 3 people not the person that says cool nerds. the starwars game it moves you for you, you dont choose where you wnna go it brings you to the enemy, you dont walk over to it. but you can do the force all the same even if you have controllers in your hands. if they make kinect where you can move where you wanna go you can go where you wanna go then id love to play it. but they arent in that technology yet. so am sticking with pst because it isnt all party games.

Dead Space: Extraction is an on-rails game for Move, so is the future Move game Heavy Fire: Afghanistan, and Child of Eden too (360 & PS3). Classic on-rails games include Starfox, Virtua Cop, Rez, Time Crisis, House of the Dead, Sin & Punishment, Panzer Dragoon. It remains to be seen if the Kinect Starwars game is great, but it has potential. :)

As I've mentioned already, Kinect has been out for well over 2 months, 6-7 million Kinects are now in people's homes, and yet there are still NO videos anywhere showing Kinect having problems seeing black people! Also, Eyetoy is a webcam (high spec in it's day) hence 2D, Kinect sees the world in 3D.

@Demonicrunch1 - Forza 4 and a Gears of War game, Project Draco, Child of Eden and many other core games due to be announced next year. The problem I have with Move for FPSs is that from what I've seen, it's a good way to play such games but it isn't better (or worse) than Dual Shock 3 (hence Move isn't owning DS3 for MAG online as some predicted!). Hence for me, I'm more interested in how Move and Kinect can ADD to core genres and create new ones, rather than as a replacement for a controller.

Alright well I have both systems and Ima sports freak and both systems have some sports games but the Move dominates. Their game that comes with the move is all sports and also are all sports that I have not been tried as well with other consoles. With the Kinect, their sports games are ones that I have already seen. I have both systems and i've seen gta V on kinect and I've seen killzone 3 on ps3 with move sharpshooter...the move killzone 3 kills anything on 360 or wii. check the videos for yourself. I'll be buying the move and the sharpshooter when killzone 3 is released
Personally i have the kinect and it isnt something you will find use for in the long run. I prefer the Ps Move because its wide selection of games and in order to play fantastic games on a motion control device, you will need some buttons.

Kinect is for children, yes just for children. They can touch tigers or "drive" cars. Ok that not much, but I think that Microsoft didnt expected something other. PlayStation Move you can children games, like drawing etc. But I can play too shooters like Resident Evil and KZ2. I think this is the main point. Move is a allround Controller and Kinect just for some activisies.

I think hardcore games like FPS', flight sims, driving sims will CONTINUE to use controllers. However Kinect can always ENHANCE the gameplay experience.
Also because this is new territory, its criticized hard. Just wait and see how it unfolds.

@koreandude81 I have to disagree. This isn't actually anything new. Some of you may recall the PS2 EyeToy? It was a camera that tracked your movements to let you interact with game, no controller involved. Of course there are several improvements with Kinect, EyeToy was last generation, but Kinect is pretty much the same thing. While the PS3 Move is high-def, accurate Wii, the Kinect games look a lot more Wii-ish than the Move games do, and has a lot of Kinect unique issues. Move wins :)
@weirddudeonice This is absolutely new. The distinction between how the PS2 EyeToy and the Kinect "tracks" the individual is substantially different. The Eye relied on pixel distortion & contrast detection, still relying on trigger objects for "accurate" tracking. Very crude. Kinect utilizes 3 cameras, combining RGB with infrared for depth. The entire body as well as the hands are the trigger object.

Alright guys heres the truth, from what ive heard kinect cannot be used for ANY FPS games at this time. it is not accurate enough to register the finger movement to play first person shooters, and im not sure how it would work for rpgs, etc. but the playstation move has been confirmed for some of the top titles out there right now, such as killzone 3, mag, and many other great titles to come. it is way more accurate, and looks like a dildo with a lightbulb? thats nice i want ACCURACYand gameplay
Look at all these Sony Fanboys in Denial. In Visuals, Move is basically a dildo with a lightbulb on top, or a magic wand. Kinect, looks like a really wide webcam. But the actual accessory, the Move is a replica of a Wii remote, to be completely honest. The difference that I see is that the Move is black, altered in design, and used with the Playstation 3. Kinect, is something that really hasn't been attempted, playing a game without the controller and using your body. But this is my opinion.

9 of the top 10 games for the 360 are shooters. How will Kinect work with shooters? How can the camera read a gun in your hands, and aiming it would be an issue too! Perhaps they'll implement some cheap mini-game like they did with Forza, where you only need to steer, no accelerator, no brakes! Yippee - immersion!
Look at the PS3 top 10 - Move can be integrated with any of them, hence my preference for the Move. Oh, plus the PSEye can also do Kinect-like gameplay.
I think the Kinect will take it to the next level because if it can recognize you and sign you in why can't it allow you to scan in a gun to use in a shooter like halo or use a golf club to play tiger woods it just seems endless on what you can do.

Obviously I choose Kinect as I have an xbox but I would just like to share some points.
Kinect - Have to stand a fair distance away from the machine (Bad point?) but it does respond well when you stand at the right distance
Move - It does lag a bit but is better than holding a proper PlayStation controller

@scrnname882 - How are you supposed to drive in a game like GT5 with a Move wand? How are you suppose to play fighting games like Street Fighter with a mouse and keyboard? :-) Each controller type has it's strengths and weaknesses, none are perfect for every type of game. That said, Kinects works with the controller too, and MS have confirmed many 'hybrid' games in development, hence in a FPS a gamer can use the 360 controller as always with Kinect adding extra features. Let's wait and see :-)

i agree with the other 3 people not the person that says cool nerds. the starwars game it moves you for you, you dont choose where you wnna go it brings you to the enemy, you dont walk over to it. but you can do the force all the same even if you have controllers in your hands. if they make kinect where you can move where you wanna go you can go where you wanna go then id love to play it. but they arent in that technology yet. so am sticking with pst because it isnt all party games.

@littlebrojo - Yes, it's on-rails, but nothing wrong with that if the game is great. Heavy Rain is a highly acclaimed PS3 game that's mostly on-rails. Dead Space: Extraction is an on-rails game for Move, so is the future Move game Heavy Fire: Afghanistan, and Child of Eden too (360 & PS3). Classic on-rails games include Starfox, Virtua Cop, Rez, Time Crisis, House of the Dead, Sin & Punishment, Panzer Dragoon. It remains to be seen if the Kinect Starwars game is great, but it has potential. :)

The IDEA of the motion controller called move is the same concept behind wii but approached very differently. The wii mote is tracked by a sensor bar, while the move gets tracked by a camera tracking the glowing sphere in a 3-d space, unlike the wii. So Kinect saying that its the first to go controller less is a lie, (eyetoy) and if PS said move is the first of its kind, would be a lie to, (wii).

As I've mentioned already, Kinect has been out for well over 2 months, 6-7 million Kinects are now in people's homes, and yet there are still NO videos anywhere showing Kinect having problems seeing black people! Therefore don't believe in myths, believe in facts instead, and the facts prove that Kinect has no such problems. :)
Also, Eyetoy is a webcam (high spec in it's day) hence 2D, Kinect sees the world in 3D.

didnt buy the wii, so move is no option for me. The wii has also a bazillion games. More precise better graphic? no use for them for the games that are played dont need killer graphic.
I do have a PS3 and im still playing it alot GoD3 and JRPGs are the reason for that. Kinect is in my opinion better, not for racing games lol. But look at dance central, move or the wii couldnt dream of providing so much fun for so many people its crazy on partys.

I really enjoy playing the wii, I mean Playstation Move. I also really enjoy playing the Playstation Eye Toy, I mean X-Box Kinect. I was hoping Microsoft and Sony would come up with some new ideas, and although they are much more advanced and quite a lot of fun, they are nothing new. Get em though, they're still awesome.

@franklikesTanks - Yep, mostly casual at the moment because for MS have targetted the casual 'Wii' audience for launch (let's face it, that's where most of the money is these days, hence the Wii's success). And MS's strategy has paid off, because they've shipped 8 million Kinects to retail, where analysts agree this means they've surpassed 5m sold to consumers (most estimate 6-7m). Now that Kinect is out and building momentum, we can expect many more Kinect core games to be revealed this year.

The problem I have with Move for FPSs is that from what I've seen, it's a good way to play such games but it isn't better (or worse) than Dual Shock 3 (hence Move isn't owning DS3 for MAG online as some predicted!). Hence for me, I'm more interested in how Move and Kinect can ADD to core genres and create new ones, rather than as a replacement for a controller.

Alright well I have both systems and Ima sports freak and both systems have some sports games but the Move dominates. Their game that comes with the move is all sports and also are all sports that I have not been tried as well with other consoles. With the Kinect, their sports games are ones that I have already seen. I do like getting up and getting into the action but Kinect does fail on keeping up with my movements will Play station tracks all of mine. My Choice : PS3 MOVE

I have both systems and i've seen gta V on kinect and I've seen killzone 3 on ps3 with move sharpshooter...the move killzone 3 kills anything on 360 or wii. check the videos for yourself. I'll be buying the move and the sharpshooter when killzone 3 is released

Personally i have the kinect and it isnt something you will find use for in the long run. I prefer the Ps Move because its wide selection of games and in order to play fantastic games on a motion control device, you will need some buttons.

Kinect is for children, yes just for children. They can touch tigers or "drive" cars. Ok that not much, but I think that Microsoft didnt expected something other. PlayStation Move you can children games, like drawing etc. But I can play too shooters like Resident Evil and KZ2. I think this is the main point. I have to agree w/ the main guy speaking. Kinect is possibly ushering us into a new era of gaming. I think its good to be skeptical but bad to be pessimistic of change. Funny how opinions here were formed of Kinect before they even played it.
I think hardcore games like FPS', flight sims, driving sims will CONTINUE to use controllers. However Kinect can always ENHANCE the gameplay experience.
Also because this is new territory, its criticized hard. Just wait and see how it unfolds.

@koreandude81 I have to disagree. This isn't actually anything new. Some of you may recall the PS2 EyeToy? It was a camera that tracked your movements to let you interact with game, no controller involved. Of course there are several improvements with Kinect, EyeToy was last generation, but Kinect is pretty much the same thing. While the PS3 Move is high-def, accurate Wii, the Kinect games look a lot more Wii-ish than the Move games do, and has a lot of Kinect unique issues. Move wins :)

@weirddudeonice This is absolutely new. The distinction between how the PS2 EyeToy and the Kinect "tracks" the individual is substantially different. The Eye relied on pixel distortion & contrast detection, still relying on trigger objects for "accurate" tracking. Very crude. Kinect utilizes 3 cameras, combining RGB with infrared for depth. The entire body as well as the hands are the trigger object.

Alright guys heres the truth, from what ive heard kinect cannot be used for ANY FPS games at this time. it is not accurate enough to register the finger movement to play first person shooters, and im not sure how it would work for rpgs, etc. but the playstation move has been confirmed for some of the top titles out there right now, such as killzone 3, mag, and many other great titles to come. it is way more accurate, and looks like a dildo with a lightbulb? thats nice i want ACCURACYand gameplay

Look at all these Sony Fanboys in Denial. In Visuals, Move is basically a dildo with a lightbulb on top, or a magic wand. Kinect, looks like a really wide webcam. But the actual accessory, the Move is a replica of a Wii remote, to be completely honest. The difference that I see is that the Move is black, altered in design, and used with the Playstation 3. Kinect, is something that really hasn't been attempted, playing a game without the controller and using your body. But this is my opinion.

And when first person shooters come along, it will be more fun to play with controllers. First of all, buttons. :) Second, who wants to hold air and play a shitty copy of Halo? It is better to play with something similar to a gun. Something that vibrates and feels good in the hand. GO PS3! Xbox may be leading in sales, but Sony cares about what people want.

1. EyeToy and the Eye was doing this for years.
2. It's horribly inaccurate and laggy. I just tried it out at the mall.
3. It's only built for kid games.
Trust me, if anything is going to take it further it'll be the Move, but then again it all depends on the developers.

oh and also... everyone is saying that move just copys wii.....but actually it totally beast up wii... way better graphics..way more gaming oppurtunitys .... kinects games are all like wii's where move can play mag and other beast HARDCORE games...sorry kinectians you guys are never gonna get hardcore gaming...its to complicated for microsoft to create...

move all the way... i have the move and it is way better than kinect..and ALOT more windows of opportunity...you can play pretty much every game with move...but dont get me wrong kinect is a very good system and very genius but move has alot more opportunity...theres my two bits worth

9 of the top 10 games for the 360 are shooters. How will Kinect work with shooters? How can the camera read a gun in your hands, and aiming it would be an issue too! Perhaps they'll implement some cheap mini-game like they did with Forza, where you only need to steer, no accelerator, no brakes! Yippee - immersion!
Look at the PS3 top 10 - Move can be integrated with any of them, hence my preference for the Move. Oh, plus the PSEye can also do Kinect-like gameplay.

I think the Kinect will take it to the next level because if it can recognize you and sign you in why can't it allow you to scan in a gun to use in a shooter like halo or use a golf club to play tiger woods it just seems endless on what you can do.
