I WOULD HAVE really liked this version except that her singing was incredibly sloppy, sounded like she had marbles in her mouth or something. Beatles version each and every single word is clearly enunciated.

Also the jagger-esque pronunciation of MEE being sung as may' is annoying here. I like the guitar mix better here than on the original, where it is too far in the background

The solo is ok. As has been said, it's not The Beatles. Is everyone who covers a Beatles song supposed to do an exact duplicate? Lauper is a unique artist and her take on this song and other Lennon classics such as Working Class Hero and Strawberry Fields while always respectful of the original, are also unique and that's what makes her an A level recording artist.
