  • Should i buy a dedicated internal soundcard for my Siberia v2's or the external usb one designed for the headset with the option for virtual surround sound. thanks :)

  • lol 2:37

  • pc: sennheiser HD 465

    tv: sennheiser HD 202

on the go: AKG K420, actually.. this is a very good one for on the go, small headphone bigg sound!

pc headset: Logitech H390 (USB) really this one is also better than expected

  • external audio interface is the way to go

  • I wouldnt buy a soundcard, the performance just doesnt go anywhere near a DAC for music. I was shocked to see a HD800 when the video started though... Audio is not sparing on tight wallets, but everybody should try the HD800 with a good DAC and some FLAC files, that will convey what truly is high-end.

  • Beats by dre destroy these

  • @Raykomak You probably buy cameras based on the megapixels too dont you?

  • @Raykomak I bet you've never used either these nor Beats. Beats are physically uncomfortable, they are horrible physically, sound quality is better on 80$ Sony headphones and even better, those are comfortable; you're only buying the name of a rapper to put on your headphones when you buy beats. Sennheiser is a much better brand, they really give you what you pay for, amazing sound quality and sometimes you don't even notice your headphones on your head, that's good sound.

  • @Raykomak You have level 10 down syndrome

  • @Raykomak Idiot!

  • @Raykomak Beats are garbage.

  • @Raykomak It must suck being ignorant.

  • I wear the Logitech G930 which I bought for $130. Same physical speaker as $240 razor headset and similar Astro headphones. Excellent build quality, USB with it's own driver, and it's wireless (and can charge while you wear it).

It sounds amazing, the best headset I've ever worn. Two others in my guild now wear the same headphones, and we're all very satisfied gamers.

Worth mentioning it has G-keys and volume slider + mute button on the outside of the left earcup. Also, wireless.

  • Astros. nuff said

  • @Coxy13131 So overpriced for their quality

  • @Coxy13131 Astros are way too overpriced and dont deliver nearly as good a soundstage as a amped headphone. Stay away from astros and beats for your own sake.

  • Love your show watch it all the time. One thing I think is important to bring up with headphones art the connections between cable and "part". No matter what headset I've used they always start glitching. I try working around it with straps but it's always a matter of time, especially for the volume adjusters and mic-mutes on the cable.

  • Personally, I like my Plantronics GameCom 777's (50mm drivers, 3.5mm jacks, USB soundcard feeds either 2-channel or 7.1-channel, boom mic tucks inside left arm. ~$150 AUD) on my main gaming rig and GameCom 355's for my laptop (about $50 AUD at EBGames, 40mm drivers, 3.5mm jacks, boom mic free-floats when tucked).

I am considering moving to a set of Logitech G930's (~$170 AUD at iiBuy.com.au) to get away from wires.

  • Linus, btw impeadance has nothing to do with power "Electrical impedance, or simply impedance, is the measure of the opposition that a circuit presents to the passage of a current when a voltage is applied. In quantitative terms, it is the complex ratio of the voltage to the current in an alternating current (AC) circuit." -Wikipedia (electrical impedance or just impedance)

  • i have like $170 headphones that i got from my bad and i use terrible oboard sound

  • siberia <333

  • For home use theyre great.

  • @rafux1991 NO! They look like hair dryers and leak like crazy :)

  • razer FTW

  • Are these hd 555 headphones really good?..for gaming and music and are they good for out side use ex. while going to school (walk, public transport) ?

    thanks for the answer :)))

  • @rafux1991 they are great for gaming and music. However you really can't really take them on public transport. They are an open design, This means that people are going to hear your music if they are close to you. Also the the audio jack is huge. Its almost the size of my iPhone.

  • grados.

  • i'm glad they have those Sennheisers up there. I'm tired of people recommending Beats as a good quality headphone.

  • 2:37 I'm cumming mom!

  • didn't mention anything about headsets compatible with gaming consoles.

  • i bought a atari headset a few weeks ago and paid £45 for them i was very pleased with them at first then i left them on a stand put them back on the day after for a few hours took them off and the barcket theat keeps them to the strap

  • wait for the razer tiamat

  • Thinking about picking up a pair of Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250Ohms, just need an affordable DAC or Soundcard. Already got an amp, so no shitty integrated amp is needed. Any suggestions?

  • @dq9677 as much as possible i would stay away from soundcards. i like to stick with DACs. you can try nuForce uDac2 for entry level, im using it right now. if you're looking at higher quality DACs... be ready to spend at least 300 dollars.

  • to all: I've had the logitech g930 for three months and I love, it's great for gaming, music and so on. I can realy recomend this, plus it's wireless which is awesome! I can game without a cable for 12 hours!

  • Astro a40's IMO is the best headset on the market for gamers

  • @VitalSyntax as far as consoles go.

If you want actual good quality, you don't go the cheap USB soundcard route, you get a 3.5mm Headset like the Steelseries 7H, allowing the use of PCI sound cards and get the BOOM and no static, that people want.

  • @5354Enter Yeah, the cost xD plus you need high end DAC aswell

  • @AwesomeGamingReviews There is no such thing as TRUE surround in headphones.

  • with the price of an HD800 I can buy a complete i7 rig from scratch.

  • Stax SR-009 on a fully upgraded Woo WES and a Smyth SVS Realiser.

    Problem?

  • my roccat kave are unbeatable i have tried sooo many headsets and this is by far the best

  • less likely to be damaged by curious pes ahha that ade e chuckle hes speaking from experiance you can tell :P

  • is there a headphone that is good in both music and gaming?

  • @aman11022 beyerdynamic dt770 pro, sennheiser hd 558

  • Can't wait to get the Razer Tiamat 7.1!

  • @AwesomeGamingReviews 7.1 / 5.1 headphones are a gimmick. If they actually added something better to the listening experience in any application, professional brands like Sennheiser would make them, and Razer headphones are not even close to their quality or knowledge on audio equipment.

  • @Frozenkex I have the Tritton AX Pro headset and it has true 5.1 and it's amazing. I've also listened to others such as the sennheiser PC 350 and they arent as good.

  • Would it look weird if I used a Siberia V2 headset for my portable music player?

  • @TheMaristBoy Yup, but to look even worse get sennsheiser hd800 and listen your low quality mp3 with it :D

  • My Razer Carcharias <3

  • @Glashachin Paul of course he's our american hero :)

  • headphones vs speakers?

  • I'm very happy with my 555 :)

  • Wow this guy knows everything there is to know about technology

  • razer

  • epic zoom is epic.... LoL..

  • but linus you didn't say whats good for gaming with a noise reduction microphone

  • LoL, I have a PC 350 with a non-amplified sound card. Now I know my next upgrade :)

  • @AngelEyesC4 Yes open headphones done right have better bass. If you want thundering mega-bass closed would be better, but an open construction alows airflow that is needed for excellent bass. The HD 800 there for example, you won't find much better headphone bass than that. You get the punch, great extension, texture and the definition you simply won't get with a closed design. Almost every high end headphone is an open design. It gives better sound.

  • Linus, you should check out the PlayStation Wireless Stereo Headset. It delivers great sound, much better then I expected and they suit me almost perfectly. Who knows, maybe you'd even like it.

  • im the 24001st viewer::::;)

  • iam really intrested into buying pc350 or pc360 from sennheiser so any thought which one should i buy , iam looking for a good bass direction and also watching movies content .

  • @spookyman I have pc 350 liking them so far and if you want good noise isolation pc 350 is way to go :)

  • Pretty good video Linus btw. Good, basic, no-nonsense explanation. If you are looking for a real kick-ass headphone rig for gaming take a look at the smyth realiser.

  • @AngelEyesC4 Open headphones usually have better bass yes (of course depending on the price you pay)

  • @Satfgk no, no they dont. open headphones have worse bass compared to a closed headphone because the sound will leak out and you will lose the bass "punch".

  • @Glashachin hahahaha

  • for sale G35 logitech

  • water cooling paaaarrtttttt 3333333333333333333333

  • Just don't buy Corsair audio and you should be okay...

  • @fuddy12345 why so?

  • @DOWWADC I'll focus on the HS1/HS1As because they are the only ones I have used. (I shouldn't have said stay away from Corsair audio as a whole). They really lack bass and the build quality is not that great. My microphone broke a month or so after using the product although I could not determine the cause of that at all, I had always been careful with it. The mic was too quiet anyways.

  • @fuddy12345 ah i see. Thanks for the heads up

  • @fuddy12345

    why do you say that?

  • WATER COOLING PART 3!!!!

  • bass*

  • did he say better base on an open headphone?.. smh cmon linus

  • @AngelEyesC4 Uh, yeah. Open headphones tend to have vents, which frees up the bass while also letting sound in and out.

Closed headphones do not do that.

  • @Darkebrz1 Yeah, closed headphones dont do that, they keep sound in, which is what you want for a good bass sound..

  • Fatal1ty HS-800

  • I have a Steelseries 7H and I'm happy with it.

  • "You" don't like Sennheiser but you like that shitty steelseries stuff? LOL

  • I think the razer electra should have been in this video. Amazing bass, and you can still hear footsteps very clearly.

  • I like the g35's I mostly game on my laptop for mobility reasons, so I dont have a high end sound card, or cant upgrade to one. But the sound card in the g35's is better than any on-board sound, so its a good solution for me :)

  • Tritton ax pro, coder box and Optical output, the best!

  • Hey guys if anyone wants some feedback on the Sony MDR-DS7500 lossless HDMI DTS-HD MA / DOLBY TrueHD headphones feel free to ask. P.S. I can't read the japanese manual all that well haha.

  • I'm not audiophile but I wouldn't invest so much on headphones or even a sound card, I do listen to a lot of music but the Sony XB300 I have is sufficient.. I just want headphones that perform decently and last long.. I think I bought mines sometime in 2010.. still working perfectly..

  • Linus! I'm shopping for a $60~100 headphones and Sony mdr-xb500 and xb700 seemed popular. Have you tried them? Do you think I'll need a sound card? Thanks! Your videos are soooo helpful!

  • @jaehhahn I have the XB700 and tried the XB500.. they might be great for gaming and bassheavy music. they are easy to drive but with better amp or sc will improve the bass quality.

XB700 = rumbling bass, soft punching, sparkling treble but tend to be a little bit harsh sometimes

XB500 = better overall balance, rolled off treble ( a little darker sounding) punchier bass

  • @avengedtheater Thank you! I'm definitely going for the xb700, I want the rumble lol. Are you using any sc with yours?

  • @jaehhahn I am more of an audio lover or audiophile they might say.. so I prefer a Digital Analog Converter to process and convert my audio instead of SC. It would be great if you use an sc with software that enables EQing.. you might wanna tame down the highs and treble a wee bit. jm2c

  • where can i got this from in the uk 5:18

  • who dont use push to talk?

  • I'm using onboard sound how do I know if it's the good onboard?

  • Do a video on earphones... thanks

  • This isn't anything about sound but oh well. I Have to make a choice between two laptops one is a targa traveller mt 30 ( 512 mb ram, 1.6 Amd turion 64 single core, Ati radeon xpress 200 64-128 mb card, a half assed dvd drive and a 12' display) and a Thinkpad t30 ( p4 2.0 ghz 1 gb ram , ati mobility radeon 7500 16 mb 14' display and working dvd). I know they are old but can someone help me witch to choose cuz i want to play games on it.

P.S the first one has a dead battery

  • i thought open has worse bass, usually.

  • i thought open has worse bass, usually.

  • what is a good sound card

  • Linus I have a request. SATA III has been out for a while, not long, but a little, however, you see these hard drives that use SATA III. We all know that hard drives could never reach SATA III speeds. What I am requesting is you do a video comparing the speeds of a SATA III and SATA II drive on their native controller then put one against the other on the other's controller and compare their speeds and maybe explain the results. Thanks and love your channel. :)

  • @l3E7Studios Sustained speeds are the same. The useful aspect of SATAIII for hard disks is the hard drive cache for burst usage.

  • YEA IM COMING MOM!

  • I got a Logtiech G930 Wireless headset yesterday, Would a soundcard make the audio quality any better even with USB?

  • @Haydenatorofwow no, never use usb if you have any kind of sound gear (in most cases)

  • @Haydenatorofwow the whole point of a soundcard is the DAC( digital to analogue converter) therefore you wont find a soundcard that has a USB out.

  • @cockyt4523 Digital out is called coaxial/optical.

  • Ehhm , i'm holding the cabble of my €20 Ozone Attack headset to be able to hear this vid , so ...

  • so all onboard sound is BS? Even realtek HD audio? I dont realy think so. It may be just me, but I have an Steelseries Siberia v2 on an Realtek HD chip. The second PC here has an asus xonar and i once had an upperclass x-fi for testing in my system. The different between the the onboard chip and the soundcards was so minor, that I personaly wouldn't even pay 10 bucks for it. It just the x-fi software that makes the deal but on the other hand: who can tell if it'S supposed to sound like that?!

  • @dharkbizkit Considering you are using a worthless headset I'd say bullshit.

  • @Dj3dda IF a SS Siberia V2 is worthless, then I will stay with bullshit. Iam Not audiophile and a Headset for over 100 $ is way over that level what i would pay for an headset

  • Just buy headsets from makers that don't put a headset onto the market every month, because you know they don't care about quality, but quantity and money. Even the best headsets comes with poor cables, it's just the nature of the beast. Cables should be a thing of the past, do we really want to be hindered to move about, and need to take off the headset every time we feel thirsty? Logitech 930, beautiful, even if it's stereo!

  • you should do a gamers surround headset buyers guide!

  • Mine are optical, how good is that?

  • how do you get all this stuff?! is it all free? if so how can i get it for free as well? :)

  • So the question now linus is, what sound card should i buy?? sound card buying guide would be appreciated:)

  • @MrDRIFT31 Best soundscard price/quality ratio are around 120$. I would say to you (Auzentech X-Fi Forte) which I had or the (Auzentech X-Meridian 2G) which I now have, ONLY if you know you will replace every opamps otherwise stay with the Forte as the 2G don't even have a dedicated amp jack.

As for headphones, best ratio is the HD555 at 135$, in the 100-150$ range. Else 1 noticeable step above is the AKG K702 at 280-300$. Anything under that is just crap imo and above is overpriced.

  • @KriegsMaschine cheers mate this has all helped me heaps! i have logitech z-5500's and looking at a decent headset still researching, this has helped heaps though!

  • Love my siberia V2's ;)

  • I use Logitech G35 and it's pretty descent for its price

  • There is someı̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̨ting on your screen.

  • Damn... those are huge!

  • I like the timing of this video. Chinese new years is around the way and my aunt always gives me $100. I thought of buying headsets since my Logitech ls11 suck. Thanks for a quick guide :)

  • Damn this video seemed way cheesy like straight up from 2004 techtv

  • @krazyliljoo94 What did you dream next kid?

  • You convinced me to get a entry level sound card and spend $20 less on my new headphones when I get them.

  • headphone guide with no akg, audio technica, beyerdynamics.

    Stick to pcs linus.

not all of us are in love with sennheiser

  • @Yeremita You realize he's limited to what his company stocks?

  • @Yeremita Not a guide to specific products. More of a guide to "what to look for". I think these rules will still apply one way or another.

  • @Yeremita This is the NCIX channel, they don't even carry those brands. So obviously he's going to showcase what NCIX DOES carry. So don't be such a dick head, and make you're own video about headphones with the brands you mentioned.

  • @Yeremita Go blow of xbox douchebag

  • @Yeremita In my opinion it's more of a (We only show products we have at our store) since it's mostly anyway regular buyers from ncix who are likely to watch these videos. Also the point of these video is to sell more stuff at ncix while informating users. No point for them to tell them some product is awesome but the don't have it so go buy it elsewhere, that would be stupid from them.

I agree thought they should get more high-end brands. I went from their HD555 to a AKG K702, it's night & day

  • @Yeremita i agree with this guy, i own both akg and audio technica

  • @discudabinu15 please dont. overpriced garbage.

  • @discudabinu15 If you're a moron and want to pay extra for a name, sure.

  • @discudabinu15 Those overpriced, bass-heavy not-so-much else really headphones? No thanks, I can get better quality for 3/4 of the price of those easily.

  • @discudabinu15 Go fuck yourself, you fucking clueless retard!

  • I yelled at my party many times while talking to my parents lol

  • ATH M50'S!!! REVIEW PLZZZZZ

  • Creative tactic 3d Sigma, comes with laptop external sound card, amazing audio quality, comfy as hell, would be hard pressed to find better price/performance.

  • anyone else notice the video quality button is a gear now? i like the old one. i could see what quality the video was without scrolling over it.

  • Maybe it's because I follow both this channel and the Linustechtips channels very closely, but I feel like you're beating a dead horse with another headphone/headset video...

  • Shure 440's with 840's earpads with out without an amp

  • I'm amazed you kept the same volume of your voice while wearing those headphones.

  • I'd buy anything Linus says if he was a salesperson at my local PC shop.

  • Ah it is a different video

  • I swear I've seen this before. Yet it was near the top of my sub box. Is this a different video to the one that NCIX posted a little while back?

  • Fiio E10 + Sennheiser hd 558 = win

  • I only subscribed because of rumble fighter i dont know y im still subbed...

  • Asus Xonar Xense is sold out everywhere :(

  • I get to happy everytime I get to see that old intro.

  • Headsets (headphones with microphones) are shit. Get a pair of headphones and desktop or clip-on microphone.

Also get a pair of better headphones first rather than spending a lot of money on a soundcard.

  • RAZER CARCHARIAS FTW!!!

    also, tits.

  • @artiejump Want mine? I'm switching them for some Hd 558 ;)

  • Please stock the HD558s.....

  • @turtlehater2 558s are old now im using hd598s they are merely the updated model and are great :)

  • @cockyt4523 Unfortunately, you are incorrect. The 558 and 598 are in the same generation. The 598 is actually one "grade" higher than the 558.

  • If your not looking to buy a crazy setup in order to drive something like mid to high end Sennheiser's and want some low impedance cans I would recommend some Grado SR60i's or SR80i's as an entry level headphone that are probably the best bang for your buck. If your willing to spend more the Grado SR325is are amazing sounding and of course you can go to their high end with the RS2i's and RS1's which are also very easy to drive.

  • @Adrastos34 i see lots of people recommending those, I've never tried them but they
