  • Honestly, you could start with a flat brass plate, use a #4 or 5 single line graver. Start by making squares, circles, and strait lines. Practice until all sides of the square are the same depth and width. This is the best way to start and to become familiar with your tools and hand pressure. And don't forget, Alot of patience!

  • tatally agree with hart and soul hand engraving, i dont want to hear a compresser while working,but it's very hard to learn any tips for someone starting out ?

  • Some of them come sharpened, if they are not, I would use a diamond grit sharpening stone, you can find them in jewelry supply stores.

  • i just got some engravers . do you have to sharpen them or do they come sharpened.
