  • I did this as a BYU student in Oct. 1978 with my cousin. Tennis shoes in the snow turned out to be a bad plan but I still have my toes. We only saw hikers on the way down the next morning and they were kind enough to point out the cougar tracks in the snow. I still remember the ice crystals swirling in the wind at sunrise as I peeked out of the hut.

  • Just did the midnight- sunrise hike yesterday. Great!!

  • Sweet

  • I'd like to do it at night sometime. I've only done it early in the morning to the afternoon, good times.

  • I just did the midnight hike to watch the sunrise a day ago! Well worth the hike and really fun hiking at night. Awesome vid!

  • Dress WARM and try it during the full moon of October. (November is even better if it's a late snow year.) I think we used our headlamps for about half an hour total.

  • I tried to do this hike two weekends ago with some friends. There was a TON of snow still! Of the 10 of us that started, only 4 made it to the top, and we were about an hour or so short of the sunrise. We were on the last push up to the ridge when the sun finally peaked over the mountains. It was pretty sweet. This vid shows me what I missed. I'll do it sometime...
