  • you ve got the 3301 code but in order to do this you need to do lots of things...it wasnt a 9:00 game.

  • Totally worth the 9 minutes bringing back childhhod memories of an unbeatable game, wasnt there a telescope you looked through for something!

  • all those hours i spent... never having a clue how i could finish this game. at least i got to nuke the hamster a few times

  • Very awesome. Though, wouldn't it have been faster for Michael to get caught by Edna in the kitchen from the start?

  • Green tentacle and his depressed self might be one of my favorite characters from this wonderful game.

  • that car can't drive, it doesnt got wheels!

  • I had this game on our C64! I never got past that green tentacle...

  • The Three Guys should simply walk in to the frontdoor and beat the crap out of the maniac

  • how can you unlock the door of prison i cant do it :/

  • @loveneedsfaith1 Push the loose bar in one of the cell's gratings.

  • What a tiny garage for a "mansion".

  • cool house with a maniac)

  • The best part of this game is that this is not the only solution to the game, nor is it the only ending. Depending on who you have in your group, the path to the ending can be entirely different, and there's two or three endings, plus some variations for those endings. Beating the game with Bernard and Razor is nothing like beating it with Michael and Wendy.

  • They should have showed the honored owner of this game cause he would have a had hoot at it. But he didn't really want you to mention all those syndromes in sequence he just wanted all the spooks to leave the spook house. Dearest crypt one day you will empty and we will find pax americana somewhere

  • I always left dave in the dungeon haha

  • what exactly did the meteor do to them when it got to earth ? why isn't there any story to explain it ?

  • This game blows

  • @coolme1015 For people who wasnt born when this game was new and fresh I guess it does blow, for us who grew up on these games they bring back a lot of memories, most importantly memories of a gaming industry that wasnt boiled down to making graphically good looking games without any other purpouse then to make buckets of money on spoiled kids.

  • @Exera80 Im an old school gamer...i know this game came out in 1986 or 7 but i was still playing it when i grew up in 1992. You never really know who you are talking to online.

  • reminds lots of Skywalker Ranch

  • Haha, very nice.

Back in the days my only problem was I didn't know English lol. And I couldn't find any other language version than English. Nor Gernam nor Spanish or anything.

  • remember before the internet to get hints you would have to call a number and pay.what about that cheat book where u would use a magic marker to see the cheats

  • brought back memories...i could never finish game.

  • That's SO not fair! Because the only way you distracted purple tentacle in the lab was by the doorbell from the REAL package, what if you played it slower and the doorbell rung BEFORE you got to the lab? That's what happened to me. Is there another way? Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude. Just stating the facts. :)

  • Only thing was missing in this video was the EPIC MUSIC!!;P

  • The code on the first floor is only a copy protection and not a secret inside the game. Because this game is the advanced version which is included in the game day of the tentacle there is not copy protection.

  • You didn't show how you got the first code door open at the top of the stairs though? That door is locked shut in the beginning

  • Comment removed

  • Haha, wow. I thought I would never see the ending of this game..I almost finished it.

  • the "Emily the Strange" trailer got me thinking about this game. figured Id spend 9 minutes finding out what happened cause Ill proably never have the time to beat this game.

  • thats how it ended lol.

  • Haha ! Childhood memories. . .

  • /watch?v=Jm48KTl69JA

    Here's my walkthrough !

  • what the hell? why didn't Purple Tentacle attack you? a glitch?

  • @NeptunII It's an exploit. He waited for Weird Ed's doorbell cutscene to play out before making his move through Purple Tentacle's room. If you do the same, purple tentacle won't respond to you in that room.

  • this game was hard as fuck!

  • Das weckt alte Erinnerungen. War ein geiles Spiel zu seiner Zeit!

  • I wish he would have turned on the music :(

  • RESPECT

  • Is the code for the lab door always the same?

  • @JohnnyDust93 I don't know, but in clean way of play game.. you have to do a lot of things more to get the code of lab door. This speed run is perfect but not fair.

  • maaaan it was that easy???!

  • yeah i finished the game back then, but i choosed other longer ways,

(remember call the space patrol f.e.)

    long time ago..

  • WOW I used to play this game with one of my friends from 4th grade, and we never could get through it. Awesome to actually see it again!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. My favorite all time video game. Seeing this takes me back to a much more fun time!!

  • hey i dont now how you doing it, bud i remember that is was weeks bevore i ended the game. great work. nice that this can be find on youtube. History of real games.

    Have fun,

    greet DCRlive...

  • i played this when i was about 4 or something (i didn´t understand anything) and it is still haunting my dreams, just like last night

  • where i can download the pc vercion(this one)

  • @sonicfan592

you can you have to code it, use scumVM

  • @2:44 Its Prez Obama!

  • @fytspike it was an awesome game. you have no taste. and you can't even spell "worst"

  • love this game:) Haave it in Swedish do=D Love that in the English version you can put the hamster in the micro... but not in the swedish:D Its has to muth "Kolestrol" hahaha=)

  • @Ollonstam

Till datorversionen menar du? För NES-utgåvan hade tagit bort sådant helt.

  • @Mrster Möjligt har bara spelat det på dator:D hehe

  • @Ollonstam

    Ok! :)

  • This isnt the NES version. The graphics are better but where's the music?

  • @jupiter0225 it's the dos version and the sound is disabled

  • Thanks for playing this and recording it... I never solved this game for my Apple IIgs (The worst computer in history because its an Apple) I got close a few times but it was too hard and my computer kept crashing!

  • This was the first game I wanted to play when we upgraded to a EGA monitor.

  • Oh man this was one of my favorite games when I was a kid. Memories. Wow.

  • That was f'ing amazing and complicated... no wonder I never got anywhere CLOSE to finishing this game when I was like 10!!!

  • @Tiffiany45 I know, right?!?!!? I didn't beat the game until I found out how and I was 25!! lmao

  • @Tiffiany45 XD ikr? i always got stuck in the dungion... XD

  • LOL you can escape the dungion??? OH i wish i had known that!

  • how did you find out the code to the door in the dungeon?

  • @Tiffiany45 kkkkkkk amazing

  • There is a sort of twisted joy in microwaving the hamster. I love this game so.

  • Is there time limit in the game? Or why does the mansion keep on blowing away once for a while? Could someone please answer me private for the case I don´t return back to this video.

    Thank you.

I play it on Commodore Amiga and on my NES.

  • day of the tenticle any relation? apart from the people who made it?

  • @apex2000 Day of the Tentacle is the direct sequel to this game. The main character from DotT is also from this game (in fact, he's one of the characters chosen for this video).

  • Ahahahaha , my childwood ^^

  • video speed is turned up....the charakters don't walk that fast.

  • I would have been impressed if this run didn't exploit the doorbell cutscene to get past the puple tentacle, and the limited amount of random passwords to get past the inner door without playing the arcade game. I agree it's not cheating like some other posters claim, but just guessing at the password is kind of lame. Good run besides that though.

  • Why do you keep getting caught? If you pull on the gargoyle on the stairwell it opens the door to the dungeon.

  • @XrotarebiL I guess there are two reasons for that.

1; If you move away from the gargoyle, the door closes. So you would need a kid to hold the gargoyle for another. And a kid standing there would cause a lot more movement from the two others.

2; Getting caught gets you directly to the dungeon instantly without moving through the house.

  • @MorderElg Thank you.

  • @Federicoxxx

The steel door war a copy protection puzzle. The original game came with a coded chart, to discourage people copying the game. Remakes were recoded so that the door was already open.

  • noooo y pensar q con mi primo recorriamos toda la mansion y resulta q es simpleee ja agarrabamos todo lo que encontrabamos .. xd

  • No music :'(

  • Do you know the combination for the lab?

  • this game is so awesome! I had no idea you could kill people with radioactive steam! (microwaving pool water)

  • Die Koplettlösung in fast 10 Minuten :)

  • GREAT! ^^

  • This can't be honored, play without glitches

  • awesome, it took for me hours, and i didnt even managed to get to that point:)

    congrats:)

  • wow this hardly counts as a speed run. You didn't obtain the combo right or deal with the purple tentacle. That shit is half the fun of the game. Glitches and Cheating do not count

  • This game is = monkey island.

  • noooooooooooo me reee acuerdo de este juego lo jugaba mi hermano y yo lo miraba, pero hace un montonazo. yo tendria 5 años

  • what version of the game is this? :S i think i like the one on NES better....

  • Man, the graphics are really ass ugly on this version.. I've only seen the NES version until today and i prefer it. The characters don't look like freaks at least.

  • i first played this game back in '87. i never did completely solve it. Can i legally download this game and Day of the Tentacle without Big George and his lawyers suing my ass for copyright infringement?

  • @wolf359x

You can download it when you have a legal copy at home.

  • Does anyone know where you can download this version? I can't find it anywhere... Thanks! :)

  • The way a pay to complete this by using a radio tude to call the moon police, lol loved this game like

  • @XisO1977 lol i know, the way i said it was a little confusing.

  • Cant believe it! It took me like 9 months to beat this game! - I played it on my pc, i think nintendo wasnt out yet!

  • @XisO1977 i know. i said we use to play it on the commodor

64 before it was released by nintendo.

  • I like how Dave just ignores everybody as he walks through the mansion.

  • wow nice! we use to play that on a commodor 64 believe it or not! before it was released by nintendo! but we never got to the end lol!!

  • of course we believe it, it was Commodore (c64 and amiga 500) who play that!!!

  • good job

  • there are differnt ways to finsish tjis game arent there?

  • @assi81912

    yes, there are

  • @assi81912 Yes, I think there are 5 ways.

  • gee, maybe it was relesed baack in 1987?

  • If I were you, I'd play it before making such judgemental comments.

  • I had a dos game just like Scorched Earth. it was simply called Tank and it was running under my 20mhz ibm shit pc.

And im sure this game was a lot funnier than this game.

  • I would get into an argument with you, but you didn't even say 'Looked', which still wouldn't be proper to 'Looks' as it's not a past tense, but a current, which leads me to believe you're a moron, so I'm not going to bother myself to tell you you're full of fail.

  • Im a french canadian so, it's normal for me to commit an error when im writting.

  • I thought you had to get the tentacle a recording contract in order to make him an ally. Also, can't you befriend Eddie by giving him his hamster back?

  • nice bro... i did a reg. LP on the deluxe version... diff. ending too

  • eep yikes; good job!

  • xThere was a loose brick down there? I also played mainly as Syd so I just gave him the key.

  • lol the green tentacle is so funny when he follows him and talks h im to death lol

  • Nooo! You ditched the black guy!

  • Brings back memories from wayyyy back

  • and always the same question "where is the Chainsaw oil?

  • The chainsaw fuel is actually in another game, made by LucasArts, I forget the name, where you end up finding fuel "for chainsaws only" but no chainsaws anywhere.

  • @byuflash2 Zak McKracken

  • the game is called zak mc kracken )

  • I will never understand the urge to complete a game as fast as possible

  • Me too. Every time I play this or another one, I try to erease as much memories about how to finish it as possible so that I can play the whole thing as if for the first time. ^^

  • Amazing!!

  • There is a cheat cause in the original version the one in the kitchen is following you to the next room, that's why you have to go another way first (Swedish Version)

  • How did you get by purple tentacle i dint get it

  • I used to play this on my NES all the time! I had a cheat book and everything! One of my favorite things to do was to kill the hamster by putting it in the microwave. I also use to have my characters commit suicide by getting radioactive water from the pool (I think), using a jar from the pantry and then putting that in the microwave..could also drown your character in the same pool..lol

  • Where did you download this game?

  • that sucks ass

  • Sandy's kind of a babe!!

  • Does anyone know where I can download this for free? Love this game sooo much!

  • There is a torrent for the second installment of the game for PC which includes a version of this...the first, in the second game...

  • i like the soundtrack

  • close but no cigar - its a cheat because he a) knew the passcode for the dungeon door, and b) used a bug for the purple tentical. You need to go through a lot more rooms to finish it legitimately.

  • There is no cheat in the game. a) There are a couple of door codes which randomizly change at the game start. Just luck if you hit the right one on the first try. b) The bug is called glitche and is legitimate in speedrun. So everything is fine with the video. Need no cheat.

  • When did this come out? It reminds me of Hugo's House of Horror...with better animation and graphics.

  • It was released in 1987.

  • @KnuxChid 1987

  • totally amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • ok awesome video and awesome game...but please tell me that there are clues and things in the game that I can find without having to look at this video and cheating....

  • Fucking loved that shit!!!!!!!

  • That door code for the lab took me forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i tried all of the numbers .Who knew it was 0000 Ill never forget those numbers!!!!!!!!!AS LONG AS I LIVE

  • I remember how awesome it felt when I first beat this game as a kid. It must have been about 16 years ago when I was around 9 years old. I love nostalgia!

  • not bad, but it don't follow the original line since you know the codes and ypu exploit a little bug with the purple tentacle

  • i do not like

  • 1:40 tell me that the makers of the original Resident Evil for PS1 didn't borrow that blue statue from Maniac Mansion :)

  • WOW

i never played to the end; thank you

  • I also agree, can't be honored.. you already knew the door code for the lab.

  • Of course I know the code. There are a couple of codes which are randomized chosen by the game. You have to remember these codes and then try them, one by one. In this video the first try was exactly the right one. Just luck.

  • @pmodern2000 You and that davidjstreader guy are a couple of jackasses. Don't act like you know shit when you don't.

  • @Arcterious How many times have you played Maniac Mansion? First time I played was 1987 on a Commodore 64. Just curious.

  • @pmodern2000 Well, I'm younger than you from the looks of it. The first time I can remember playing is probably the early 90s on NES. I was born in 86, so can't say that I played earlier.

  • Wheeeee!

The sound of the departing car is great.

  • Some background music would've been good...

  • good game

  • Yea whats up with already knowing the door code. But despite that great job!!!

  • Vayaaa! nunca pude terminarlo. Yo soy de Venezuela y en mi infancia tambien lo jugue y mucho

  • Have anyone the Bass tabs for the Bass line at the intro?

  • Meh no honour for the speed run because you had a pre obtained door code. Apart from that a great run. But no way 9 minutes can be honoured.

  • Great Job!!!

  • That depressed tentacle never followed me around.

  • Wow. I used to play this game years ago and I never got... well, anywhere. Sooooo many things I missed though I looked almost everywhere. Always liked it, even if I didn't get it.

  • hey there.. can you speedrun castle of terror I & II.. asking for too much lol :D

  • favorite game of all time

  • I have to say there was alot of stuff I saw in this game that I would have Never . . .Ever Ever Ever figured out like that key in the dark room after you escape the dungeon I mean, Damn. Still looked fun for its time though.

  • That looks stupid! But i guess it has a lot of fans. How could you solve that without using a faq?

  • well done!

  • Thanks for the memories, I would play this game for weeks and I would always get stuck. Do you know if they make Maniac Mansion for Windows XP? I would sure like to play it again. I used to have it when it was for DOS

  • The best solution would be to buy on ebay the dos maniac mansion version and play it with the the emulator scummvm. Or you buy day of the tentacle. In this game the enhanced version of maniac mansion is included. You can also play this version with the emulator scummvm. Other classic games can be bought on the platform steam. Hope this will help you.

  • @MrStarwarsfan4ever Maniac Mansion Deluxe

  • If you break into a house, wouldn't you all travel together and oh i dont know...get your dads gun? but then again that would make it to easy.

  • i see thats its been played on a PC.. but is this like the commadore 64 version?? i had the C64 and the nintendo version and this one totally reminds me of the c64.. but i guess it has been years since i played

  • This is the enhanced version, which is included in the "day of the tentacle" game. As i remember. :-)

  • what console is this?

  • This game runs on a PC.
