@AonaranMan first movie I took my GF (now wife) to see in 84(?). set in a japanses POW camp. the lead character arrives (david bowie) and immediately unsettles the guards by his idiosyncratic behaviour, leading them to believe he holds supernatural powers. it's been argued that better WW2 movies have been made but none better for the almost surreal tension and atmosphere. the film score won 'best' at the brits (I think).

My uncle Leslie was killed in Burma in December 1941 thanks to the Japanese and although I never met him this haunting music always makes me think of what he ( and thousands like him) went through. God bless them all.

my Wonderful Uncle Moses...spent 4 years detained in the pleasure of the Emperor,much to all our displeasure{He never spoke of this period },came back to Tandragee 1 year after 45 ,[sanitorium ,U,S,special visitor] all 60 kgs of dignity !!..yet this film had the skill of portraying the atrocities done yet the Monsters ,after all were Human and did have feelings ,enlightening through hate,transformed into compassion.masterful cinema!

my dad was watching this film and when it ended i heard this music and looked over at dad to see if the film had ended. it was the first time i have everrrrrrr seen my dad cry. i fell in luv with this theme and searched it up. dad says ill luv this film so ill watch it in bed tonight.
