@realrocky8591 Terrible example. Nash's family moved to Canada before his 2nd birthday and he lived there until he went off to college at Santa Clara. It's been 30 years since he had ANY association with S. Africa. Polynice was born and raised in Haiti, came to NY when he was a teen and still had most of his family back in Haiti. He lost damn near 10 family members when the earthquake hit Haiti and it took a couple days before he knew if his father had made it through OK... lol fuckin retard
If you've heard him talk, he definitely has the southern United States black accent, no remote sign of a Haitian one. His name is also uncommon for a Haitian.
Patrick Ewing is from Jamaica, and Tim Duncan is from the Virgin Islands, and how often do you hear of them being considered "Jamaican-American" or otherwise?
@realrocky8591 That's not a Southern accent lol and again, terrible examples. Ewing came to America at 11. By the time he was in the NBA he was thoroughly Americanized. BUT he's still always been listed as Jamaican. Back when Duncan was winning titles and putting up 25 and 12 like clockwork, the national media couldn't stop talking about how he was from the Virgin Islands. BUT BOTH THOSE GUYS PLAYED FOR TEAM USA lol just stop, you're just trying to get attention by saying dumb shit it's pitiful
@realrocky8591 well olden polynice is my dad..he was born in haiti..live in harlem then went to college in virginia. as for his name. it was holden but with the haitian accent people in america that it was olden. just saying
I believe Olden Polynice was kicked out of Virginia shortly before his senior year(summer or fall/ 1986) because of a drug or theft issue. He decided to play what would have been his senior(1986-1987) in Europe.
I'm guessing the Len Bias death played a role in Virginia kicking him out. They probably didn't want to end up in a situation in which O.Polynice would do something that would RUIN the athletic department, the way L.Bias death did for Maryland.
@dancepoly3 Does your father have anything to do with UVA after he left there?? Do they invite him back for games or anything, I know he played on the last UVA team to make the Final 4. Did the death of Len Bias play any role in UVA and your father going separate ways? I believe Len Bias' death took place weeks or months before your father left UVA
Interesting the way they talk about Pippen and Jordan possibly working together.

Rick Barry and Larry Connelly got it spot on, regarding Pippen; though they, or no one else, could anticipate just how good he'd be.

I think he was impersonating on campus security officers at Virginia. He was practicing for later when he impersonated police officers.
