I was a little kid when I saw this commercial, I can't remember what year it was, but it made me want to join the marines. I graudate from high school next year.
my dad was in the marines my grandfather was a marine and like 5 other people in my family were in the air corps navy and army in 4 years im going to chose should i go in the marines at 18 or wait till college is over
@naval8viator I know that, I'm joining because for that and many more reasons but I'm just saying compared to the Army the Marine Corps has better benefits.
@Darusdei Sure, let me give you a brief history of the Marine Corps against modern militaries: Belleau Wood, Blanc Mont, Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Chosin Resivoir, Inchon Landing, Khe San, Hue City. Doesn't look like modern militaries fared much better.
@Darusdei Decades old? You're the one that asserted that the Marine Corps could not stand against modern militaries, I just provided a history of such. Yes the casualties were high in many of these battles, but their enemies were slaughtered. Lets take a look at the Chosin Reservoir. US forces were outnumbered 2:1, yet the casualty rate for the Chinese was nearly three times higher, 13,900 compared to 30,000+.
@Darusdei Or how about Iwo Jima? The Marines lost nearly 7,000 men, but killed well over 21,000 Japanese. Or we could look at Okinawa, the bloodiest battle in the Pacific: 12,500 US dead, but over 95,000 Japanese slaughtered. That's a kill ratio of nearly 8:1. You might want to check the history books again.
@naval8viator okinawa you say? have you checked those numbers? again marines were fighting with superior numbers and support against hastly drafted locals. plus suicides and suicide strikes and ofcourse marines weren't exactly doing it by themselves...
yes yes u.s. came on the top but nothing here shows us anything special about the marines. the only u.s. military branch which has a ridiculously big pr machine
@Darusdei How's this for checked: US Forces Deployed 183,000, Japanese 117,000. US Forces Killed: 12,513, Japanese Killed: 95,000+, Japanese Captured: between 7,000-10,000. Try again.
@Darusdei Actually you're wrong when you talk about the japs. The japs where highly trained and dedicated. A tough enemy by themselves. do my a favor and stop hating on the Marines. and they do have a pr machince. but it only works well because it is true how amazing and dedicated they are. if you don't appreicate it then please leave. this freedom of speech right here is partly provided by a marine so you're entitled to you opinion but just leave this alone.
@Darusdei Again you are wrong. the US military is among the most powerful and efficent in the world. The US has never lost a war. And vietnam was not a loss it was a withdraw caused upon the media bashing the war and controling the public
@jc12162 vietnam was a lost war, no matter how much you dance around the subject...
and the power you speak of comes from the fact that you're spending ridiculous ammount of money on the military. it's like if there is an armsrace and the only opponent is you, yourself
@Darusdei It was a lost war but not one that The us was beaten at. It was a media war. and the power I speak of comes from the men and women willing to Put in the effort to raise that. money during world war 2 the economy was pushed foward by the hard working women and that money raised was used to build weapons that people Defend there counrty with so yeah definetly money plays its part but it's the men and woman of the military that use it.
@Darusdei Military spending is still up. and actually now the military is alot smaller than it used to be. that is a fact check. all that spending your talking about is spent on technology used to advance the military like unmaned drones.
LOL at this commercial. I'm a poolee and the closest thing to climbing a mountain that i have experienced is doing mountain climbers and jumping "star" squats In the 100+ degree texas sun (with humidity) until my legs feel like jello in an earthquake and i'm sweating like a fat bitch in heat wrapped in a fur coat. All while being "encouraged" :) lol. I think there are some walls you have to climb in bootcamp I'm not sure. But hopefully its not any shit like this. lol #Motivated
I totally remember watching this in elementary school. Now i'm back from talking to my recruiter and swearing into the Marine Delayed Entry program next week. Can't wait to join. MARINES!!!
my grandfather was a marine during WWII as a machine gunner when he was shot once by a sniper then took another bullet to protect his feeder he called the call who fed the ammo into his gun by hopping onto the higher part mound that he was entrenched in
be interested and happy on what youre doing to earn the title of force reconnaissance marines, push yourself to the limit
if you want to be part of the force reconnaissance marines maintain your composure, many have tried but only few survived, only the best and the brave survive here
Is this a commercial for the movie "127 Hours"? But seriously, what would the instructors at assault climbers course say if they saw this idiot climbing a cliff face without any safety gear? Or what would this kids First Sergeant say if he saw him wearing a wife beater?
I first saw this when I was 9 years old and immediately asked this question after seeing it: "Mom, why are there only a few of them?" In August I hope to swear in, and hopefully go to Basic sometime this fall.
The Marines exercise team work, from the beginning to the end. Band of brothers and sisters simply known as the core. They rely on each other..Once they’re given an order, they carry out that order. There's no time for a lot of talk. The Marines execute and they perform. They adapt achieve and over come. They get a plan and they execute. They live up to the legacy, Eagle, Globe, and anchor. The Marines is a way of life. They give it 110% all the time. Honor Courage and Commitment. Semper Fi!!
@Jaggerace69 Okay, thought it was 3 months of boot camp, and 1 month of training in computer tech...So 3 weeks of combat? Arms, fights training? After that, my role would be to fix computers...all...day wherever they need me?..
funny with iwojima flag, that it was raised long before the actually conquered the island and almost everybody on that pictures died later in battle.this is how the symbol s works
Hey, can anyone answer me this because my Marine recruiter is not being specific: Do all marines have to fight as foot soldiers? I am 18 and right after high school going to boot camp. My job would be computer technician/repair. Would I have to fight in firefights at age 18? Are all marines foot soldiers? What are the chances of me being sent to Afghan or Iraq? Is it a 24/7 job, as in being stuck repairing computers all day? Is it, your going out their because I told you to go out and fight?
@99centt It doesnt sound like the marines are for you if you ask if you are going to be sent to iraq/afghansitan. You are referring to Infantry, and no, thats only one way to go. Every marine is trained to be a rifleman, EVERY Marine. If you're a cook, you know how to shoot, if you're a mechanic, you know how to shoot. If you are concerned about it like this, then i'd go army or air force, somewhere less unsure for you.
(sigh) Brings back memories when I was younger. I remember this commercial is the one that I saw as a small child and from there on, I always respcted the Marines more than any other branch.
god i wish i could go to boot camp with all my friends who are going together but ill still be a recruit after i finish my next semester of high school then onto being a marine oorah
"If you complete the journey, a ghost will salute you." Dude, why did he get saluted anyways? He transformed into a Sgt. I haven't saluted an NCO since Boot.
wow i remember watching this when i was real little, and now ive plan on joining the marines soon as i finish high school. I guess this actually owrked. Cant wait!!
I remember watching this commercial when I was 4,5,6 somewhere around that age. I thought it was a so cool, wasnt exactly sure what it meant. But now im in the Delayed Entree Program become this and making the climb! SEMPER FI!
I remember when I saw thus sitting on the couch with log hair my guitar and it caught my attention so I went to my recruiter and signed up I am proud to say I am a better person that u have more respect for others and I am a united states marine (recon) Oorah getting deployed in august
@Megadeth481 good luck brother, my dad was in the Corps for twenty years and i was tecnically in it for ten(devil pup), i wish all the best and come back safe and kick some ass!
at 0:35, when he almost falls, then pulls himself back onto the rock, thats a representation of Boot camp. Thats that point, around phase 2, where you break. Its when you lose everything, and you feel like you can't go on anymore. You feel so hopeless and lost. You feel like shit. And then somehow, some way, you find motivation, and you discover your second wind.
Thats when you truely start to become a United States Marines
i remember seeing this commercial as a kid and didnt quite understand but now it makes perfect sense especially since im leaving to boot camp in 2 weeks and its not brainwashing Its MOTIVATING you ignorant scumbag.
LoL! No disrespect, this commercial should be for the Navy Seals or Green Berets. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i doubt that the Marine Corps teach you how to rock climb like that with out any equipment.
You see that kind of wall climbing only in movies so I don't think this would fit as a commercial to the SEALs or Green Berets either. I don't think any special forces would do climbing like this without any equipment though I can be wrong and they do it all the time. I wouldn't enlist to get myself killed before I get to the field. :D
@SanSalvadotion it is saying this, he sees himself as a marine, so he takes off to do it, then the climb gets harder as training goes on, when he loses his grip, its almost like deciding whether to quit, when he gets a hand hold, its what the instructers tell him, but he has to do the rest, then he becomes a marine. HOORAHH
LoL! No disrespect, this commercial should be for the Navy Seals or Green Berets. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i doubt that the Marine Corps teach you how to wall climb like that with out any equipment.
now imagine if the marine at the top was just a mirage the guy was hallucinating from the stress of hard climbing and desert heat and actually ended up grabbing nothing but air when he reached for the hand and fell off the cliff as a result after all that....now that would be hillarious XD lol

at 0:35, when he almost falls, then pulls himself back onto the rock, thats a representation of Boot camp.

@raidernick2
listen I want to join the marines but I have a few problems
1) The kickback from rifles scares me
2) I loved sex and the city (the original, not the sequel)
3) I cry........a lot!
4) I have bladder issues that I dont want to discuss
Can I still join?

LoL! No disrespect, this commercial should be for the Navy Seals or Green Berets. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i doubt that the Marine Corps teach you how to rock climb like that with out any equipment.
J03510 1 year ago
@J03510
SanSalvadotion 1 year ago
@SanSalvadotion it is saying this, he sees himself as a marine, so he takes off to do it, then the climb gets harder as training goes on, when he loses his grip, its almost like deciding whether to quit, when he gets a hand hold, its what the instructers tell him, but he has to do the rest, then he becomes a marine. HOORAHH

now imagine if the marine at the top was just a mirage the guy was hallucinating from the stress of hard climbing and desert heat and actually ended up grabbing nothing but air when he reached for the hand and fell off the cliff as a result after all that....now that would be hillarious XD lol
