  • I'd tap that.

  • well doesnt she just think shes great.

  • She has to be an undercover Asian.

  • this routine never ceases to amaze me when i watch it. the control she displays is just so, for the lack of a better word, incredible.

  • WOW she is really good i dont even know what to say!

  • i love nastia and shawns little high five at the beginning.

  • I do think Shawn's floor routine was underscored, but it still wouldn't have been enough to put her ahead of Nastia.

  • shes good

  • My heart breaks everytime i see her lose but Nastia deserved it.

  • shawn u inspire me to work harder wile training

  • if i could get 1.00 dolar for every pixel id have 0.01 dollars

  • @victoria16lucky Sorry...?

  • @GymnasticsSuperstar they're saying the quality isn't great

  • how old is she??

  • @MyStrawberry2000 she is now 19, but at the Olympics she was 16

  • fucking hate this shity quality...........

  • That was amazing :)

  • the reason i loved that year's all around is because we all got to really see the best caliber of what this competition should be. Nastia was leading. Sure Shawn could've just faltered, but she didn't. She was so awesome, and didn't make those "ooooooooohh" mistakes, so she knew in the end that she did the very best that she could've done!! So i think that silver could just as easily been gold. And Nastia didn't falter either, she was just havin'g fun! they are both just amazing athletes :)

  • how do they not get wedgies??

  • @izzy1520 Spray glue to hold the leotard to their 'cheeks' lol. Gymnastics is awesome.

  • magaling,,

  • Awwh.. She is so pretty... :))

  • What really killed Shawn was her low D-score on bars and her lack of rotation on vault. Shawn's lack of flexibility also played a factor. She could lose 0.5+ on both beam and floor because she wasn't reaching full split on her jumps/leaps. Also, it didn't come down to Shawn to see who would get gold. With the score Nastia received on floor, Shawn didn't have the D-score to take gold. She was performing for silver or bronze.

  • No matter what people may say about Shawn and her lack of grace, you could say the same thing about Nastia and her lack of power. Gymnastics is supposed to be excited.....it's not ballet. I love both Nastia and Shawn and watching the two in Beijing is one of my fondest memories ever. But Shawn was underscored at the Olympics. She should have been closer to Nastia in terms of scores. But her difficulty and fantastic execution are remarkable in such a wonderful young lady. She's amazing.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519

You are aware that Shawn was gifted 0.7 on vault and Yang Yilin should have won the silver, right?

  • @Gr33nkiwi How was she gifted? Because she did an Amanar and Yang Yilin didn't? It's not cheating by doing a more difficult vault.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519

An Amanar is a 2.5 twisting Yurchenko. Shawn Johnson did not perform this in the Olympic AA.

  • @Gr33nkiwi Ummmmmm...she definitely did...that's why she scored a 15.875. And I don't know of any other vaults that she could do that would score that high.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519

    I may not be a math major, but I'm pretty sure 2.25 =/= 2.5 ;)

  • @Gr33nkiwi Well she got credit for it, so clearly the judges thought she performed an Amanar. Get over it.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519

    Learn how to judge.

An amanar is a 2.5 twisting yurchenko. If you only (if even) complete 2.25 you did not do an amanar; therefore, you get downgraded to a DTY.

The judges wanted to avoid a controversy, which would have clearly emerged.

  • Natsia and Shawn are both very good no doubt about it. But, there is a very distinct difference between the two. Natsia has grace, Shawn has power. I guess in this situation or most situations judges favor grace as would I.

  • omg i think both, shawn and nastia are amazing gymnast who i luv looking up 2 and watching thewy were scored perfectly and i think they are great role models.....2 me neway

  • I'm not sure how many people are criticizing Shawn's artistry, but does anyone remember Kui Yuanyuan? Probably not. She competed one of the world's most difficult beam routines with few errors at '97 worlds, yet didn't medal, causing criticism of the judges by the HEAD of FIG. Or Alexei Nemov, who competed 6 huge releases in a row on HB at '04 olympics, the crowd even booing the judges for his score. The old system encouraged perfection, the new, difficulty. The gymnasts must follow to medal.

  • I reckon she should have won.. *waits for people with no life to tell me I'm wrong*

  • @caillinnumberonefan no, i agree with you

  • haha this is awesome! my friends sister can do this routine.

  • wow she lands them so perfectly :)

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • my friend claire and i are just lke shawn and nastia! im the tall, artistic one. shes the short stubby power house that everyones in love with, im pretty much hated when im next to her. shes a coaches pet just like shawn. but i always win. haha;p winnings not everything though.

  • @gymnastagirl141009 Well your comment here gives me a pretty good idea of why your friend is liked by everyone and no one likes you...

  • @TinyAva93 dont be mean:( i said winning wasnt everything. and i dont really care for it.

  • i am the huuuuuuuuuuugggggggest fan of shawn she is a biiiiiigggg role model for me!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love u ur awsome

  • omg i love shawn so much! she is amazing and does everything so effortlessly!

she takes it all with a huge smile on her face and she is so gorgeous too!

my fav gymnasts in no order are: nastia liukin, shawn johnson, and alicia sacramone!<333

  • 10 dislikes. Hmmm. Bet there Chinese.

  • @MrsPhelps1000 OR Nastia Liukin fans

  • @MrsPhelps1000

11 dislikes. Hmmm. Bet there are 11 people that actually understand what gymnastics is suppose to be.

  • ii wanted nastia to win. all gymnasts lack her grace

  • @gymnastagirl141009 Well, not Pavlova...

  • @espinaca79 i love pavlova, very true(:

  • i love her routine! she practically stuck all! i"m a big fan of shawn. :) i do gymnastics!!!!!

  • that was so underscored. wow. i mean don't get me wrong, there wasnt much dance at all and i love nastia but this was just wow. that was the best tumbling i have ever seen and 15.525?? at least, that shouldve been a 16. that was unbelievable

  • @Ccgirl4 totally agree!! she usually get like 16+ for this routine like in the olympics trials & VISA championship.

  • @zEmsterMBM - yes, but those are American based competitions which are ALWAYS overscored.

  • @ericmaine how is this American based ? it is the olympics?

  • @doglin82 I meant the Olympic Trials and Visa championships - mentioned by ccgirl 4 above.

  • @doglin82 - I was referring to competitions such as the VISA Championships and the Olympic Trials (both held in America). Judges at those competitions completely overscore the Americans

  • Does anyone know what shawn johnson is doing nowadays? has she totally retired from competitive gymnastics, is studying etc? sorry i don't follow gymnastics very closely. i saw a photo of her attending the CMA awards in jun 2009 and was so surprised to see her looking so different since it was only 1 yr after the Beijing Olympics, i didn't recognize her...

  • @ViVi80

  • I have never seen cleaner tumbling passes as I have in this one.

  • i love how Shawn and Nastia highfive in the beginning, its so cute.

  • Shawn most win the all around, she is better than everyone

  • no one likes shawn because she's tubby

  • @ power1of1now - no the judges did NOT underscore her. They simply took the proper deductions for lack of artistry and flexibility. I like Shawn but Nastia totally deserved that gold - she was simply better on that day.

  • @ Missnewyork28 - you're saying that Shawn has more artistry than Nastia? Are you out of your mind? I like Shawn but she is just a power gymnast and her routines are not nearly as great to look at as Nastia's.

  • @Msmademoiselle91 I'm not out of my mind. Actually I'd say you are. Did u read correctly my comment before writing ? I've never said that Shawn was more artistic, she is not at all, I agree. However she is a way better technician than Liukin and didn't get th credit for it. Whereas Liukin mistakes, well, she din't get all the deduction she deserved for it. That's it !

About her "artistry", maybe it's the chorgraphy, idk, I don't like, it's cheesy, too fast, too rushed.

  • @Missnewyork28 Well - you were being sort of unclear. You said Liukin had no artistry, and finished a comment in which you only talked about grace/artistry with "Shawn is a better gymnast". So it was easy to misinterpret what you ment. And I still disagree, Nastia absolutely deserved that gold.

It's one thing saying you don't like her choreo, but I simply don't get how you can claim Liukin has no artistry.

  • @Msmademoiselle91 What I mean by artistry is probably different from your meaning. I can't really explain, to me the only reason she is said to be artistic is because she is flexible and tall because apart from that, she is like the other gymasts. She has the same boring moves, useless hands movement, is waiting for the music without doing anything when she's to early. She is not in, she doesn't feel what she is performing. I much prefer Shawn's smile, at least you see she likes what she does.

  • i dont think shawn johnson is good enough. I mean she is good but next time she needs to step it up.

  • Liukin made mistakes as well, of course, she did not the perfect routine it's not possible ! However, they are less obvious than Shawn's but still there are !

  • Come on, Nastia is a great gymnast, but has no artistry at all. She just has long and tiny legs, she looks like a ballerina because of that. I don't get the fascination for her, she is not elegant. We have to admit, american gymnasts lost their grace with time. They prefer difficulty to beauty and artistry. If you want to watch a real artistic gymanst, watch Anna Pavlova, less impressive, but so beautiful. Shawn is a great gymnast as well, like Patterson and diserve the gold more than Liukin.

  • @Missnewyork28 Did you really just say that Nastia has no artistry? She has soo much more grace and artistry than power gymnasts like Shawn or Carly. Nastia absolutely deserved the gold medal on that day. Not to mention her PERFECT vault compared to Shawn's which had a lot of errors. Nastia combines her elegance and skill level and is truly an all-around olympic champion.

  • @Missnewyork28 While I agree that Anna Pavlova is stunning to watch on floor, I don't know why you think Nastia has no artistry. She's the only American gymnast who has artistry. She has that Russian elegance that the other Americans don't have.

  • No wonder Shawn was crying she should have won the AA.

  • Im still traumatised from that first tumble .. I mean WOW

  • She was robbed! Stupid judges, Nastia had bad form in almost every individual skills (the only place that she was "big" on the uneven bars) and lower start values compare to Shawn, and yet the judges did their best to help her! It is not fair, I hope that Shawn will do a good comeback and go to London, and finally get what she deserve! (Oh, and don't forget, on the Balance Beam, Nastia has not completed the ability to throw his head back, and even so, the judges gave her a 6.7 start value).

  • @roch202020 There was no question about Nastia's leaps in her beam difficulty (few have better head release than Nastia on leaps). The questionable start value was over whether she connected her onodi to her wolf full (0.1 in bonus). I believe she didn't, and should have gotten a 6.6 start. I used to believe that Shawn was robbed, but not anymore - Nastia's form errors are more obvious, but Shawn's errors are definitely there as well. I believe it should have been closer, however.

  • she actully looks like someone i know !!

  • How old is she?

    She's amazing!

  • @rebeccaroos1 She was 16 at the Olympics, but 18 now.

  • already one gold in the bag??...

  • @chrislindsey14 They were talking about Yang Yilin, it was just when this user cut things out it made it confusing! haha

  • that is amazing i wish i could do that !!

  • well u cant

  • well u cant

  • Though I am HUGE Shawn Johnson fan, Nastia really did deserve this title. She was the closest to perfect throughout that night and Shawn did extremely well, but gave a little away on her vault and beam. Nastia also had a very high advantage with her bars routine. Overall, they both amazing!

  • did not fall at all. That is to f***** up!

  • that fall was too controlled to be an accident

  • Comment removed

  • @MaebySurelyBarely shawn johnson didnt lose. she won a silver medal and a gold on the beam. Nastia liukin had the advantage with difficulty. She also had less errors than shawn. Like she stuck her beam while shawn wobbled and shawn didnt hit all her leaps and handstands on bars. Thats just how it panned out. Nastia Liukin deserved that title.

  • I was talking about the AA scoring (p.s., watch her bars and floor again, she had one short cast and she made her leaps). The beam scores were fair, too, it was just the bars and floor ones. (Like Shawn getting lower execution scores on floor than Nastia - Shawn hit every tumble cleanly - remember they were allowed to take a controlled step in 2008 - but Nastia had some obvious form issues in every tumble and plently of bounces out of her tumbles).

  • @MaebySurelyBarely im sorry but to agree with you to say that shwn hit her leaps would be like agreeing with the holocaust. & the reason shawns execution scores were lower because of her leaps. And also yes shawns tumbling is awesome but is the most over looked, over scored gymnastics ive ever witnessed. She lands with her chest in her knees alot and on her front tumble she is lacking amplitude, while also setting back on multiple doubles. Look at this at gymnastics EXPERTS point of view.

  • Experts like who?

I'm sorry, what do you mean by 'setting back on multiple doubles', I don't quite understand.

Most overscored you've ever seen? Nistor in 2007 aside, she isn't overscored. Watch her bars from this competition, look up her execution scores, and then try to say she's overscored again with a straight face, okay?

  • experts like the judges who judged this olympics....

& technically i couldn't tell you with a straight face seeing as how its youtube, and in order to do that i would need to make a video. i have a life and am for some reason wasting part of it replying to you. i dont know why. nastia liukins aa olympic champion and complainging saying shawn should have won isnt gonna change that....

  • I love how you responded without answering any of my questions. The fact that you avoid my questions tells me that I'm right, you know. I know she's the champion, I just like to analyze things like the scoring.

I am quite curious to know what "setting back on multiple doubles' is, though.

  • @MaebySurelyBarely setting back is a bad technique where the gymnast doesnt use a proper set. a set is the beginnin of the salto if you didnt know, and causes the doubles to look flat a travel far, much like shawns full-in.

  • @gymLYYFE Ah, thank you. I was not familiar with the term.

  • some people are so stupid....she fell on purpose... if that was a real fall she would have caught herself!!.....DUHH

  • Why is everyone fighting about who should have gotten the gold medal. I am sure that both of them are happy that they medaled. This chance may not ever come again and they are only teenagers and wanted to make the most of it.

  • omg i wish i cud do tha !

ove been teachin myself but so far im crud :C

  • she fell at 1:52 !

  • @TheCassbrookeshow i don't think she did, i may be wrong but i believe it is part of the routine.

  • Thanks i didnt know either.

  • That's cause she was supposed to.

It was part of her routine....

  • that was part of her routine it wasn't a fall

  • Its was part of the routine !

  • ya, i think she was supposed to do that, but at first it looks like it wasn't a part of the routine

  • It's clearly part of the routine... But I guess if you have never seen her do it... the you could think that.

  • that was part of her choreography (gymnasts are required to some sort of low to the ground movements in their routines)

  • Her floor was better than Nastia's IMO.

  • Video quality is really quite bad

  • She is like my idol and i wuld luv to just no one of those flips and she knows em all and acts like they are the easiest thing in the world!

  • Shawn Johnson is my favorite. But shes all power, no grace. Nastia has artistic part and the power part. Thats why Nastia won, & not shawn. Even tho they both are excellent gymnast.

  • @Kirstenlovz2flip that's not why she won......she won because she was the closest to perfection that day. Shawn didn't win because she made very tiny errors.

  • @bbtalk27 Yes i guess that is true. But Nastia does have the grace part of gymnastics & shawn needs to improve on hers, so thats another reason why nastia won.

  • @Kirstenlovz2flip Yeah that's true, but also put into play that it also did not work for Nastia most of the year. When it counted on the other events apart from the all around, Shawn came ahead. Yes, I do agree that artistry is important, but gymnastics is not the same as ballet and figure skating where grace is pivitol. For example, Carly Patterson was not the least bit graceful, but Svetlana was and Carly won. It's not really about grace it's about how perfect you can make your routines.

  • why shawn not win`? she was much better than Luikin ...

  • poor shawn she didnt win first place in all around she should have got first place she deserved it Go shawn keep up the good work u rule

    love ure biggest fan

    goooooooooooo shawn!

  • abugatta pudrete.. ella tiene cara y cuerpo mejor que el tuyo asi que callate el ocico y no opines.

SHAWN ♥ Oh! she is the BEST

  • esa jonson parece un muñecp tanto ejercicio no es nada estelisada .... no tiene nada de femenina asi no tiene gracia la gimnacia .:S

  • gooo shawn!!!!!!!!!woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good shawn

  • Awesome job keep it up

  • you are amazing keep it up!

  • wow ur really good. keep up the good work

  • yes she is good but if u didnt know she was in the olympics idiot

  • shawn can outscore nastia on 3 events but with one event, nastia can still win! i think that's unfair and ridiculous!!!

  • Nastia outscored Shawn on 2 events at the olympics.

  • maybe during the all-around!!!! shawn's vault score was always better and obviously her floor final score and beam final score were higher than nastia's!!!!!!

  • In prelims, shawn and nastia tied on beam, and Nastia knows how to stick her landing on beam. I have never seen Shawn stick on beam dismout. I really like Shawn Johnson, she is a fantastic gymnast, but the reality is Nastia was better the night of the all around.

  • Very well said, I totally agree

  • @flipnchick3824 Shawn doesn't try to stick her beam dismount. It's too difficult for her to try and stick it. She could hurt herself really badly. It's also why she doesn't try to stick her Yurchenko 2 1/2.

  • @itstheapocalypse How is it dangerous for Shawn to stick her beam dismount. Shannon Miller stuck that dismount lots of times and she did not hurt herself on it.

  • @flipnchick3824 Like I said, it's too difficult and dangerous FOR SHAWN to stick. I think Shannon was a better gymnast, anyway.

  • @flipnchick3824

all i have to say is, look at the scoreboard.

  • thats all going to change this quad, I find it funny that Yang was so close to Shawn.

  • This is soo crazy.

I love Shawn Johnson she's my role model and I wish I could do the amazing things she's able to do.

  • That is UH-mazing. I wish i could do stuff like that haha.

  • i am a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggge fan of shawn she is my roll model

  • I have to admit that I wanted Yang Yilin to win, but the americans were so good that I always knew one of them was gonna win, but I'd rather prefer Shawn than Nastia, nastia seems so russian to me, shawns was more like the typical american gymnasts, besides she is nicer.

  • shawn did great during all around but if you compare her and nastias scores, Bars is pretty much what sealed nastias win. hopefully if shawn returns to gymnastics, she'll have a new and more difficult bar routine. :)

  • i have a question... i come from germany and i love this leotardi thinks its from GK ?!? can you buy the leotards from the US girls there ?

  • They used to sell the Olympic leotards but not anymore.

  • @GymnasticsSuperstar yea they do

  • @Sassiiification you can probably buy them on ebay now

  • I love Shawn! She's so cuteee and sweet!

And she's such an awesome gynast!

She totally deserved to win Dancing With The Stars too! :)

  • Omg I didn't know she was crying after her routine! she's such an awesome person

  • pressure must be very heavy to bear...

  • YIU!! parece robot!

  • This was a great routine. Yes i believe she was underscored the entire olympic games. Mostly in the aa finals. I think

  • i think the deductions came from lack of flexability, most of her leaps dont hit the angle that they should, and i didnt see her stick anything.

  • also on beam she has a bad habit of keeping her chest down after the standing full and full-in. which she could have ultimatly occured a whole point in deduction for those. but never did because of rep.

  • I agree that Beijing scoring was a little funny, I don't think Shawn's floor was underscored, but her bars should had been little higher. I agree that Nastia was the best THAT night, but I don't think her lead should have been that big over Shawn.

  • The problem is that with the standing full, EVERY gymnast lands with a low chest. With that particular skill, the chest will be low. It's really not just Shawn, Cheng Fei and Sam Peszek's standing fulls are like that too. That said, most of Shawn's deductions are from the lack of flexibility.

  • Thank you!, very much true , love your comment :)

  • Nastia was way overscored. She has a massive cowboy, crosses her leg on every single twist and tricks all her landings.

  • yes she did do those things. but they were deducted from her A score. She was fairly judged. Dont get me started on Pavlova.

  • Shawn was underscored! those olympics judges sucked!!!

  • I agree

  • Maybe all the difficulty is blinding you from the fact that her dance elements lack flexability. The dance is as just as important as the difficult tumbling elements.(FX)

There is no beauty in the routine, lack of flexability,a crutial handstand was not executed, and the landing was not stuck(AB)

The landing was a bit uncontrolled, and again no stick(V)

  • @power1of1now NO, she was not underscored. The Olympic judges are more strict. And, unlike the horrible US judges, they took the CORRECT deductions for her lack of flexibility and artistry.

  • @power1of1now but even if she has gotten 16.0 , which in my opinion, she SHOULDN"T...she still would have lost..

  • The quality is not very good but watching Shawn was very fun

  • Yeah! I'm so sorry about the quality of some of my videos! I don't know why they sometimes end up like that because on my computer they usually end up fine.
