@normannobrot Thanks - yes, there is a way. In fact I run it from a laptop. It uses simconnect just as PlanG, Active Sky Evolution, FSInn etc. I run all of these 3rd party apps on a side laptop. This frees both the simming view and resources. I like FSMap - it's a nice tool to have the sectionals right there on the fly.
@flybman2007 great stuff, and thanks. also, how do you work a 4 engine aircraft with the go flight modules??? i've seen some for sale that do "single" and "double" but not "triple" or "quad" .... big fan of the c-130, and want to have each engine on a go flight sort of module... any ideas? and thanks again flybman. would be cool if you get the time to show us some more close ups of your "modules" best regards.
@normannobrot I don't have any Go Flight modules. I use only the saitek boxes - Switch Panel, Multi-panel and Radio Panel. They do pretty good but can't vouch for operating big tin. I can say this - the more complex the plane, the less compatible the boxes become simply because they don't know how to interface with complex systems. About the only thing I have seen people do is string together 2 saitek throttles or buy the CH throttle quad.
@flybman2007 interesting. so theirs 2 variant's or "makes" of so called modules. cool. yeah the engine management and complex aircraft management will need to be looked into, how "open" are the settings for your modules? what i mean is can you custom set the buttons and switchs? or are they "set" to be as they are. would be good if you could set them your self.
@id5556 The Katana (4x) version is pretty nice indeed. There are some "gimmick" type effects for oil / refueling etc. but all those aside, the DA-20 is in fact a pretty good model and pretty good flight dynamics. Fortunately I don't have a lot of real world flight experience other than sitting right seat a bunch so I really can't pinpoint when a particular flight model is off from the real world. The DA-20 and the C210 are two recent purchases that I do feel the flight dyn. are good.
@dans949 I know both sims very well now, xplane has excellent flight model, but can be too touchy sometimes. You can use both, Xp for fine tuning technique, and fsx for visuals and procedures. You can't beat fsx for visuals and traffic
Oh, I was actually talking about the other plane (your flare seemed good). From the videos I've seen it's almost like flaring is optional but it's good to know there are realistic consequences like bouncing etc. I'm trying to find a good sim to practice up for my commercial and I've heard x-plane has more realistic physics (stall, spin, slow flight, spiral)
@DanS949 Ha - yeah, there are two things working against that Mooney pilot. 1) Well... let's just say he is new at flying in general. His approaches aren't the best - take a look at his speed too. He has come a long way in spite. 2) Vatsim doesn't replicate the other pilots very well sometimes. You will see them at 15 feet one second and on the ground the next. x-plane, yes, it has some decent physics but graphically, no comparison. I have both but fly FSX 99.5% of the time.
@DanS949 There are many reasons for this - namely the collection of planes, scenery etc. on the market. There are also planes that replicate stalls, spins but usually they are small small GA planes. In your case x-plane is certainly worth a go.... by the same token, so is FSX for other reasons.
The mooney didn't flare, does fsx not have bounce landings? In some videos it seems like in fsx you can just drive the plane into the ground and everything is fine? Nice vid tho
@DanS949 Mooney? You mean in this video, that's a DA-20 Katana? Yeah, wasn't paying much attention. The stall warning was going off a bit high so I didn't want to smash the gear. You land hard enough it will crash (unless you have crash detection off). Some planes (in FSX) are more durable than other. For example, the Beech Duke 60 will burn up engines if you don't stay within specific engine operating parameters. As will this plane. However, you can land hard and it's forgiving.
@DanS949 There is most certainly bounce if your speed it too high or hit the ground too hard. Had bounced last night as a matter of fact coming into Chilliwack. It wasn't pretty and I went missed - I porpoised big time by my standards. I was flying shared cockpit so I had added pressure - ha. Passenger / CFI was not impressed..
@TheDeltaFlight 460 Superclock because of the processing cores. I think you are looking 336 cores versus 128. That's my .02 but I haven't bought a card in over a year now... so take my advice with a grain of salt.
@almostscienceguy I always fly on Vatsim with a group of guys. Usually in a group setting we are on unicom 122.80 and there is enough noise on the mic at that time. If we going go for full ATC, we will chase ATC on vatsim and locate all controllers prior to making a flight plan. So, the short answer is "not really"... I have seen it and it's interesting but it's much for for those flying in their own little world. I much prefer the Vatsim ATC or unicom with the group of flyers.
@vipersnake94 Thanks - yeah, stall warning is cool. Too bad I make it sound at the wrong times ...haha. Someone already mentioned - "Bad Pilot!" :) Oh well....it's true and I can not lie.
@flybman2007 LOL not even your pretty good from what I've seen, believe me I've been on a Cessna 152 flight with one of my instructors and the stall horn was going off way earlier than your did.....I was kinda getting worried :P.
@Robhoops1 Thanks - I was just having a discussion with my sim pals about the audio whether or now it was good / bad or indifferent. I haven't found the sweet spot for a 'mic' sound. I figure this sounds better than straight teamspeak / microphone but still could be better.
@thekiller0673 Hah - yeah, right. I mean, I would trust myself over my colleagues who know nothing about planes but I have no illusions about actually flying a real plane. Two different things. In fact, as I watch this video, I think about how many different ways this flight could have been a disaster due to lack of real world experience / knowledge. Oh well, I don't claim to be a pilot... just a arm chair aviator.
@smoshjkl Ha - you are too kind. It certainly isn't anything special. More just a record of the flight that myself and TreeTrimmer took a few nights ago. These are always so much better than just screen shots. Thanks for the comments. Fly safe.
amazing system , say...do you know if theirs anyway to have the FS MAP showing up on another monitor? or a laptop? realy good vids mate..

Ya I thought it might have had something to do with the 3rd person view, thanks for the advice
