If this is really true and really happened....then the "new" 2008 ratings of even 41mpg are bogus. In a good way. Imagine if it was a Focus....the possibilities are endless
my dad has a 2001 dodge ram 2500 with a 5.7 l inline six deisel engine andi it gets about 21 mpg we have a cold air kit an exuast system and chip on it but no black smoke out of the tail pipe even whene towing their 10000 poun fifth wheel
I'm not an American car lover, except Ford. I love forriegn makes better, that's why I bought a Mazda 6. Haven't had ONE SINGLE PROBLEM. My girl on the other hand, comes from a GM family. Her dad's axle (Blazer) fell apart in the drive way (while parked) and her Saturn doesn't start when its cold and the computer system has to be reset at the dealer. Amung Many other probs.
I keep telling her its fine to support American, so at least buy a Mazda3
Even though Mazda is a Japanese company, the Mazda6 you bought is produced in the Flat Rock, Michigan assembly plant, which is the same plant that produces the Mustang.
who cares if the prius got 110 mpg 4 years ago this is 100 times more better looking inside and out and people who like cars may consider buying unlike the prius crowd
Better late than never. Good job Ford, coming to the market 10 years late with a hybrid car. Toyota is on the THIRD generation Prius now. Anyway, it's good to see a "domestic" automaker make some progress on the hybrid front. Oh, and WOW on that range on a tank of gas! Yes, I'm a Prius owner, how can you tell? LOL
Hey man, my tree needs a hug. Yeah, we used to make TVs until the east learned they could do more than grow rice...and there were no regulations for the environment or workers...that's why we are where we are today...think about that.
Eventually, it will affect you management job at walmart....
we used to make tvs until we got fat, lazy and arrogant and started building ugly crap that broke all the time (see big 3). that's why we are where we are. the big 3 also have the productivity and innovation stifiling unions to blame too. as for environmental regulations, US drug companies are still dumping tons of drugs into rivers and lakes. as long as you're still sweeping the floors and scrubbing the toilets at walmart, i got nothing to worry about.
Do you really want to get into an occupation debate? If so...bring it on. And I agree that we made our own bed. I have a union buddy that just retired and is absolutely LIVID about the bad apples that caused the quality and cost issues. Give the American companies a chance. They ARE just as good. And don't get me started on American drug companies...talk about rapists.....we're cool, just greet me give a cart when I get to Walmart ;)
Rock on, keep it green Ford..!! 1455.7 MILES ONE TANK HAHA TAKE THAT YOU TWO DOOR TWO-SEATER PRIUS WITH YOUR FUEL EFFICIENCY And......... let's not forget 40k price tag....... Lol
Priuses have 4 doors + a hatch and can seat up to 5 (although not very comfortably). The two seater, two door you're thinking of is probably the previous gen Honda Insight.
"too bad ford, but they got 110mpg out of a stock prius...4 years ago." well, that's great for them, but that was not a vehicle that would accomodate 5 people, and be a true family vehicle. this fusion, for most people, makes much more sense.
you're right about it being too late, but the way things are going, Ford looks like it's going to survive. Who knows about GM and Chrysler, that seems to change daily.
Ford noticed something was wrong back in late 2005. GM noticed something was wrong 6 months ago. Chrysler is hoping Fiat will fix the problems they're not even aware of yet.
this a ford video, why are some ppl posting comments about honda and chevy, im sure those makers have their own vids for you to comment. way to go ford keep doing great work
I'm not usre thats right. I'm not a Ford fan at all. Been driving Japanese all my life but I am seriuously considering this call. Everywhere I readthey say this is truly an exceptional call. I just bought 500 hundred shares of Ford stock because of this car.
GOOD FOR YOU ...support your own US auto maker ..its time to look at ford and i think there on the right track here ..toyotas and honda's can be glued together here , but there still an import car and all of that profit goes over seas ..i hope you do buy one ...good luck
Okay, but try comparing vehicle sizes/platforms/configurations. You're comparing cantelopes to lemons - the Ford is bigger and has more safety equpment.
The Insight only seats two passengers, looks hideous, was not hybrid, only has 3 cylinders which means no horsepower, and was discontinued because no one was buying them. Seems to me the Insight is pwn3d.
wrong again princess. "He broke 124 MPG of gasoline in his unmodified Insight hybrid with one passenger." princess, you oughta change your alias to "miss information"
Insights never got more than 60 mpg stock and this is fully verifiable unlike your outlandish stories. Perhaps when you get out of the third grade and learn the difference between "Miss" and "mis" and you get past hurling childish insults like "princess" you might realize how much of an ass you are making of yourself.
princess, please, i wasn't the one who wrote the insight "was not a hybrid". feel free to google that in case you realize you don't know what you're talking about. in fact, google "124 mpg insight" while you're at it. just because there's no youtube video does not mean it's an "outlandish" story. LOL. get your facts straight. you're making yourself look like an ass.
The Honda Insight is not a hybrid in the same sense the Prius, Civic, Camry, Escape, Fusion, etc. are and even if that was relevant it is grossly inferior to every other hybrid vehicle in existence. It is underpowered, high-maintenance, seats two, ungodly small and basic, and requires lots of modification to get any more than 60 mpg. Most people are not moronic enough to spend thousands more than they will save in gas money.
care to explain in detail the differences between the insight and other hybrids? and please elaborate on the tons of mods you think are needed to get the insight past 60mpg. show proof or you risk looking like a princess in your own little fantasy world of unsubstantiated generalizations. oops. too late.
I've already explained them but apparently your lack of intellect failed to notice. EPA estimates for the 2010 Insight, according to Honda's own website, are 40/43/41 (city/highway/combined). So perhaps I was being a bit generous at 60mpg max stock. The Insight only seats two, the electric motor puts out 13 hp @ 1500 rpm whereas other hybrids do 70 or more. Gas engine puts out 70 hp other hybrids put 100 hp or more. I won't even get started on the frequent and expensive battery replacement.
wow you are totally confused or have amazingly poor reading comprehension. my original comment referred to the 124 mpg insight from TEN YEARS AGO. as for the 2010 insight, if you could actually read "Honda's own website", you would see that it's not a 2 seater. it's almost hilarious reading your posts. 1st you say the original insight is not a hybrid. then you say it never got 124 mpg. then you say it's not a real hybrid. then you confuse with 2010 with the 2000. good stuff, keep it coming
(Prius owner here) FWIW, famed hypermiler Wayne Gerdes who was in the video and one one of the drivers of the Fusion in this event was also one of the drivers in the 110 mpg Prius run.
That testing for the Prius was not done in any type of city environment either. Given the larger size of a Fusion and the environmental differences of the two tests I know which sample is more valid. Granted neither really correlates to everyday driving anyway.
Ford should advertise this on TV. This gives me chills. WAY TO GO FORD!!!
Im so sick of everyone saying how much better toyota is. My wife has an 08 sienna, and my 05 F150 Drives better, and gets almost the same gas milage! (And there are NO RATTLES OR SQEAKS!!!)

This car, as with most hybrids, does not use a lithium battery. The car puts out 191HP, which is nothing to scoff at in a family sedan.
How many news reports have shown people being blown up or burned by hybrid batteries anyhow?
