Correct way to do this

1: Tie strap to one fork only.

2: Keep bike in 1st gear only. (very important)

3: Keep clutch engaged until the pull vehicle reaches at least 85 mph.

4: Pop that clutch

5: Make sure someone is filming

6: Post video on youtube

Not saying it wasn't a good ol' cock up, but just slightly in his defense, I've got an RSVR (as this is by the looks of it) and they are damn near impossible to bump start by pushing. Really high compression I guess but even in 3rd gear with two people pushing the back wheel just locks.

We considered towing with a car as well but then guessed this would probably happen, so glad we didn't try it!

You don´t even have to run to get it started. Just gear to the highest gear and release the clutch. The higher gear the lower are the chances of the back wheel locking. On the highest it is almost impossible

Next time route the tow rope on the motorcycle in the center up above the front fender through the fairing between the shocks.... take it to the throttle side grio, wrap the end of the rope around the grip 1 time DO NOT TIE IT but grip it with your hand until you get plenty of speed to start the thing, then just let go of the tow rope and it should just slip out and go with the truck while you pop the clutch.

If you can't pop the clutch your engine might be frozen. I've never seen anyone (particularly my dad) able to unfreeze an engine doing this (though he's tried plenty). I myself have cranked cars and motorcycles so many thousands of times by getting them rolling and hopping on and popping the clutch its not funny. Do yourself a favor tho and push it towards a downward slope and get it going fast and put it in first gear and slowly let off the clutch.

you CAN do this... i've done it before with a dirtbike. i had my wife pull me in my truck but i held on to the rope in my hand (not attached to bike) and once we're up to speed i dropped the rope, let her get away a bit, and then pop the clutch. not a big deal as long as you don't tie the rope to the bike! f-ing stupid!
