@JCJasion How can you tell? It does say recorded in Europe. I wish that the horns and woodwinds came out better but this was the best I could do. The vocal and strings come out good.
@JCJasion - The British studio recordings have a certain balance one can identify after repeated listenings. Also, wasn't Robeson doing some film projects in England at the time?
It is most unusual for my wife to comment on whatever I am listening to, but she has just remarked to me: "That's the voice I like". I can only say that I agree with her. This is beautiful, and I thank you for sharing. Much appreciated.
Great. My, that's easily produced, vocally! Not a hint of strain. In fact, the ease of the singing definitely contributes to making this song work for him, because when he cuts loose it becomes very operatic very quickly.
@meltzerboy Always my pleasure to share. I believe this used to be on YT but may have been on one of those channels that shut down. I was debating posting this for that reason.
Any woman who would leave a man with a voice like Robeson's is borderline crazy. :D His performance of this song is entrancing and magnetic; I can't stop listening to it. Thanks, meltzerboy, for sharing, and thank you, pax41, for taking the risk to post this amazing rendition for us!
My father had this on a 78rpm and I used to play it again and again.

So did my dad! I loved his 78 collection but I wasn't always kind to it .. left a lot of scratches.
