  • Damn, we used to have one just like this. If only id known it would become a classic... Who knows what happened to mine.

  • @Zanazuah totaly serious, here`s another one for you 1975 I worked for a public utilty company

Their computer had a total of 16k bytes programmable hard wired memory & was a punched card / mag tape system google univac 9300.

  • Ear Porn...:)

  • The old keyboard I use for my office PC sounds like that!

I also have another one that sounds the same, but it stopped working a while back.

  • Oh God, my nervous officemate used to type feverishly on one of those d--n things; drove me crazy.

  • What terrible sound...

  • T H E *space* E N D *enter*

    3:14 - 3:22

  • I like these keyboards for old dos games. The model F was designed to feel more like a typewriter. You gotta also consider that for most people this was the first computer people used.

  • I like the feel of these keyboard, but the sound rella annoys me. I have one of the new soft-touch logitech keyboards, and if it didn't keep breaking, it's the perfect ballence between noise and feel.

  • Interesting keyboard. That is one giant space bar on there!

  • I like the sound that keyboard makes, it sounds like it's built really well, but the loud noise would probably annoy me after a while, I know a lot of people feel that modern computer keyboards aren't as good as older ones like this model F and the model M etc, but I really like the slimline aluminium keyboard that came with my iMac.

  • I wish my parents never threw out my grandfathers old PC XT otherwise I'd have one of these awesome keyboards.

  • I remember the keyboard on a newer IBM PC and it didnt have the clicky spring sound but instead a tiny peizo speaker inside the keyboard to simulate the clicky sound when you press the keys. when the PC was off you didnt hear the clicky sound.

  • wish i could give one of those a try someday. maybe i'll run across an IBM PC one day and be able to see how it is. i love the way it sounds.

  • Someone got the power back on finally.

I could swear I had a keyboard like this at one time. The layout drove me crazy for some reason (likely the position of the backslash) I seem to recall a non-PC machine having a keyboard sounding like that too.

Was that a fly I saw?

  • The keyboard is singing my favorite tune.

    Oh yeah, it's rocking.

  • Years ago I worked in our local city offices, about late 1980.

They used an IBM mainframe computer for billing rates etc

A sizeable room of about a dozen women entered data via linked terminals

They stared into a green phospher VDU all day.

I`m always reminded of this time when I hear these clicky keyboards.

I can recall seeing obselete 80 colomn punched card machines and paper tape readers at the back of the computer room.

  • I love how those old keyboards sound!

  • My favorite keyboard layout was on a Gold Star Keyboard, they put the backslash down by the Right CTRL and ALT keys, allowing for a full sized Backspace and Enter keys.

  • My high school used these keyboards on Dell Optiplex's. You wouldn't believe how annoying it was, having 30 students, and 30 IBM clicky keyboards typing at the same time!

  • i have this key board, how much is it worth?

  • I have a few of these, I'm writing this responce on one right now, very musical they are. :)

  • i actually like the smaller backspace keys on those older keyboards.

  • Sounds really clicky

  • The sound brings back memories of my college years.
