There have been plenty of recorded tornadoes in NY. One year in the 90's there was actually a day where three tornadoes spawned simultaneously and hit behind what used to be McNulty schoo's woods and Sassafrass park, corner of Rt. 67 and Clizbe Avenue and the third out by Mt. Loretto Nursing Home.

I am a volunteer firefighter for the place that got hit by the tornado. It went right behind the fire dept. There is a lot of trees down and some damage to houses. The were no injuries. There was no severe damage to anything. The volunteer fire dept. spent 3 days straight helping everyone out. All the residents around the area came out to help. Everyone did a fantastic job of cleaning it up.
I am not here to try to push an Agenda or anything, but if people keep ignoring that Global Warming is causing these extreme weather patterns then all I can say is its good knowing you all. Global Warming is causing the earth's climate to be out of control, and the extra heat being locked in is just adding fuel to the fire.

I was a 5 minute drive from that tornado, I had no idea until it was on the news. When I was driving home the next day, there was maaddd trees down lol

It is not uncommon at all that there was a tornado in new york state. It happens every summer at this time of year. You should really research before assuming these types of things do not happen in this part of the country.
hun, do some research....I have seen tornadoes hit Upstate NY every year for the last 4 years....and know of many that have hit before then....the thing is, they don't make headlines because of the weather channel & other news channels care about is the big cities, just like the floodings (2006 & 2011), towns in the upstate NY area were devastated and some are completely gone like Prattsville, NY BUT they're not NY City sooooo no need to report :(

But it happened, although the landscape doesn't allow tornadoes into the area because of our location being between mountains (valley) tornadoes usually disintegrate before it hits home (where I am in N.Y.) so yea suttin funny...definitely

@tom9152a What about Mechanicville about 12-13 years ago? There was one in southern Albany county about 8 years ago that hit an unpopulated area. They're rare, but not unheard of in this area.
