  • just subbed nice video!

  • This intersection is in Shiloh, Illinois. The crossing has been totally redone with gates. Hopefully will shoot an updated video of it soon. Thanks for commenting.

  • where is this

  • Has NS done anything about that crossing since this video?

  • this is a cool vid, thats rare for one track!

  • Thats awesome that metrolink runs in Shiloh.

  • wat bell was at this crossing

  • @unionpacifictrain Safetran Mechanical.

  • I live not to far from where this was take; in fact, i just uploaded some videos of NS trains that I caught around that same spot.

  • thats a old bell

  • this crossing needs to be updated having no gates can be dangerous

  • @Heyde1979 They'll only add gates if the road is busy enough. I say they only need a new bell for this one and it'll be good to go.

  • That bell sounds like shit, but still better than the new bell.

  • GREAT VID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FOAM!

  • Good job, Dave-a-nator! Good to see you viding again, sir!

  • Nice!!

  • You know there putting gates at this crossing on Shiloh Station Road, where you caught the first train at.

  • Why was UP leading the NS?

  • This might have been a power delivery to the Union Pacific. This is not at all uncommon.

  • @firecaptain5405 so true i live next to the st louis to Kansas city line about twice a day NS runs two trains a day thru here i live so close to the tracks i could throw a rock (just kidding dont throw things at trains please lol )

  • @DH082008 Norfolk Southern borrowed it due to power shortage, I've seen it a million times.

  • I agree that NS train was awsome classic freight train horn keep them comming I enjoyed watching every minute of this video

  • Thanks for the kind comment.

  • you are so welcome

  • After

  • what?

  • is the 1 crossing before the 2 one or after ?

  • In the direction of travel of the trains, after. That crossing is about 40 car lengths East of the gated crossing. Hope this helps.

  • that is awsome, you dont need a tripod you do it just fine without one.

  • Thanks, I try.

  • that bell needs to be replaced with a diffrent mechanical bell

  • that bell needs to be replaced

  • those pasenger trains arent metrolink, there something ELSE

  • thats light rail

  • ???

  • Yes it is light rail, however the Taxpayer funded system run by Bi-State Development Agency of St. Louis has named the system MetroLink. These trains are certainly different than the Metro's of other cities, I will give that, but tha official name of this system is MetroLink.

  • huh, that is awsome, you dont need a tripod you do it just fine without one!

  • Thanks for the compliment.

  • i found the radio frequency around the area its 160.950

  • That bell has definately seen better days...

  • Yes, it sure has. Thanks for commenting.

  • when the light is yellow, how long does it take the train to come.

  • The timing varies based on the speed of the train. The signal warns that the next signal will be red and the engineer must take actions now.

  • cool!

  • Thanks

  • that first crossing sound old

  • Yes, I guess it probably is. That was the 1st time I had heard that bell even though I live in the area. I am sure a little maintenance could help improve the crossing. Thanks for commenting.

  • who owns the track and what Method of operation is used, TWC, CTC DTC, and what radio frequency and channel are used on this line thats in the video?

  • Norfolk Southern owns the track. Channels, frequency and method of operation are unknown. Thanks for commenting.

  • Oh, I see now you DID get the other crossing down on Shiloh Station West. Very nice!

Also, I noticed a new signal control box at the Shiloh Station Rd. crossing (where you got the first train) - expect that crossing to have gates the next time you go out there to visit. The crossings on this line have seen a complete turnaround from when I lived there in the early-90's. It used to be that all of the crossings east of Belleville were gateless. Now they pretty much all have gates.

  • Wheres this track run to? and good video.

  • This line originates in East St. Louis off of the TRRA Illinois Transfer through Belleville, Shiloh, and into Centralia. Thanks for commenting.

  • Glad to see you back, Dave'o! Had to get a tishue to whip the tears until your back. AWESOME VIDEO! NS NS NS! GOOO DAVEY! Say hi to Ronical for me :)

  • Thanks Kevo. If I see Ron, I'll ell him Hi for you. Have a good one. Later.

  • Nice shot, glad to see your getting your vids back up.

  • Thanks. I'm glad to be back posting videos again. Thanks for the comment.

  • I couldn't agree more with TrainmanKnight!

  • Oh, I don't disagree with him. He's absolutely right. I hadn't heard that bell before, so it was a surprise to me too.

  • well fyi both bells were safetran

the one was a safetran mechanical(gong style)-bell they usally ring pritty fast and always cool for a good clip of one check out my video "TAYLOR AVE 1 in kirkwood mo"and "TAYLOR AVE 2" for the other side of the crossing

the second bell was an electronic bell it was a type two or three probley type three safetran e-bell

oh btw if me and firecaptain disagreed with each other u would know lol (aint that right Dave'o)

  • I had to laugh when I heard that M-bell, it reminds me of the bell at the Museum of Trandspotation (the old setup) or the Zoo. The scenery is great for taking videos, just the bells suck. Thanks for commenting.

  • oh man that bell sounds horrible and then u got a crappy e-bell

but it is a great video
