Roland D series synths had this effect called IIRC chase. One half of the keyboard let you choose chord, the other half triggers it trasposing it according to the pitch. Replicate it with a sequencer/tracker, just make a melody, then choose a chord and copy paste it following the same pitch of the tones of the melody, then correct the chords to match the duration of the tones. Optionally add short delays with feedback. Could be completely emulated with some sw like max or pd.
