I think the problem with Jeremy's attempt at the "pit maneuver" was improper application.

They were going around a bend in the track, which meant that it actually played to the pursued's strength, especially if they are familiar with drifting.

The big difference here is that Jeremy wound up pushing the Stig's backside out of the turn, aligning the car closer to the direction the Stig wanted to go anywho.

I will give him points for trying a real world technique.
