you don't need a balanced rod exactly because you can hod it like its balanced then let out some line then try it ... guess what it doesn't balance so all that is mostly bull.

If you want to compete with anglers who know what they are about you need to learn how to do the basics right first. Of course people will DIY this skill with cheap gear and bad habits will dog you for the rest of your time fishing. Think of it this way...... learn to play GOLF properly and you will play GOLF. DIY it yourself and you will teach yourself how to play FLOG i.e. Golf spelt backways. UR choice

Im teaching myself to fly-fish...i dont have a fly rod, but i have a spinner rod that works perfectly..the only thing is that it has a long handle below the reel...i dont see a problem with that. Also, im not sure if its supposed to happen but there is no way to stop the line from coming out of the reel, except the switch that makes that clickin noise, but the biggest problem is probably the fact that i have no leader, i cant find one anywhere...soo ill practice with this rod until i get a new 1

Tbh, when i go fly fishing, i take a fly box, i do all my leaders at home rod, reel flys, forseps, wader spare spool of florocarbon thats me done.
