why is it that a song will have a beautiful meaning, and so many people listen and sing the song, without ever realizing the true reason for the lyrics of the song? it took me years to figure out this song, no thanks to society. shouldn't we all just listen to these songs with our hearts instead of our minds?

My older brother has been playing these songs since I was a child...I literally grew up with Five For Fighting. This song means so much to me because it holds such truth. We're truly nothing when you think about the world and the universe and even America. Our troubles are large to us, but small, and our lives are short, so we should pay less attention to our troubles and more to the good things in life.

Personally, I think this entire song is just one giant metaphor for life period. This song is about humans and our quest to find what our lives are all about. In that regard this song doesn't have an answer. Because that is life, what we make of it.

The lyrics may mean one thing to me, and something totally different to someone else. well i am not like for sure but i think its just saying that we are just one little part of the world and lifes a riddle and its hard to figure out but you have to enjoy all the best things in your life like the people you love and enjoy all the little things.

Thats how you interpret the song I respect your oppinion. I believe the message is that the point in life is to live it to the fullest, and not to regret it later on in life when you grow old and can't do much. I personally have never heard a more beautiful song. Peace Rob.

hehe im 12 turning 13 in june and i agree with some of u guys :D theres this girl that i like so much but well i dont know how to tell her, shes pretty shy and well the guys at my school make fun of me when im just close to her, the embarrasement is hard to bare :P she use to like me but now i think she has mixed feelings so im not sure wat to do *sighs* im sorta in wsx (the other one the friend lol) position im not sure wat to do but well im just bearing with it for now, any advice? im confused

hmm i don't think you should let the embarassment get to you. you are only 12 and alot of kids that age are really immature.ignore them. I think you should tell her especally if you think you might have a chance. don't take a chance for granted and sit there confused. I made that mistake, i've liked the same guy for 3 years and i missed my chance and now i'm stuck. i regret not telling him everyday and after a while it eats away at you. don't make my mistake, tell her.

if the guys know about it, tell them to shut up about it while shes there. No girl wants to overhear you and the guys talking about you and her. The you just have to have a moment with her and ask her out. Don't try to hard or she'll think your desprate or creepy. Just relax dude and youll do fine.
