Michael McDonald was the best thing that happened to the Doobies - granted that they rocked pretty great alone, but McDonald brought the band up a couple of steps when he joined. His presence ticked off Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, who left after the first album McDonald played on. Two albums later, McDonald "left by choice" so thay said, but it had more to do with Baxter and the bands choice to return to the previous Doobie sound and style. Tsk, tsk. The Dobbies never really recovered from that.

1985 900 turbo Bought new. Including the original price of the car, and all maintainance (even tires), the thing cost me about 110 usd per month. After driving the living shit out of it in So. CA, FL, and AZ, I sold it for 1,200 usd in 2003. The guy still drives it daily over the mountain between San Jose and Santa Cruz. On that hill it still leaves 60K Beamers in a cloud of their own blue smoke. If that's not a beautiful car, I don't know what is. BTW - 450,000 + miles when I sold it. : )

FYI...this is the original version of this circa 1977. Trust me...Simon's version came later. This is the orgvinal off on of the last Doobie Brothers albums. Michael McDonald was the lead singer on only three of their final albums....Living on the Fault Line (get it) & Minute by Minute & another. It was a complete departure for the group, destroyed them. BUT I loved their work with McDonald. And this song explains why.

I think Carley Simons' early 70's recording of this song was easily the best of the bunch. There WAS a video, here on YouTube, with Carley singing live from Martha's Vineyard (I'd guess an 80's appearance) but I haven't been able to find it lately.
