  • Thanks for the reply. I was able to change it easily with just a drop or two of leakage.

  • Question-I have to replace the valve cover gasket on my OHV Kohler engine. When you unbolted the cover, was there much/any oil leakage? Do I need to drain the oil first? Thanks-great vid.

  • @RCOU97 Yes there is some oil leakage, not a lot. So yes, either drain it or have a rag ready.

  • GREAT video! I'm curious though....... how did you know it was a blown head gasket causing the problem..... and not worn piston rings? I wonder if bad valve guides could also cause oil burning in an OHV engine.

  • I think mine is blown on the older version of this same motor. Mine smokes tons of black smoke, and it appears that exhasut is comming out of the head. Did you replace the valve cover gasket as well?
