Poor planning on somebodies behalf with that landing zone tranny, or lack there of!! How couldn't you take wind into account and make it as wide as possible? Dumb ass. And yes, a good ol' fashioned pelvis breaking (if thats what he sustained) could kill you DEAD from internal bleeding. Check out Bird's jump, its an unofficial world record and the physics behind it are perfect.
he died from a torn main artery/aorta before they could get him to the hospital. no offence but adding insult to injury by calling a dead or hurt person names is not really the right thing to do.

So this guy had more balls than brains on many levels- what was the point of the jump? Was it a distance record? I doubt it. If it was just because nobody had jumped that bridge, congrats. There are more bridges in America than brave foolish motorcycle daredevils. My money is on the bridges.
I was there that day he landed right i front of me and was life flighted to vegas where he had died shortly after! he passed the jump three times looking up at the american flag from the top of the launch ramp...
apparently they were going to call off the jump and when the officials went to tell butch that they were going to postpone it to another week he was off and suspended in the air!
No he didn't. I was out there when that happend i was three years old. He was my dads best friend while they were growing up. He was at my house the night before that happend eating dinner.
lived if the doctor would have cut him a air way.but chose not to so he suffocated. it a damn shame. he wil be missed and it really sucks that if he would of just had 3 more feet of a landing ramp we would have seen alot more of him. just like gary well and the ceasers palace jump. all he needed was a foot. it leased he lived tho. later all. r.i.p laswell your awsome.

No way. He died during transport to the hospital minutes later. That's part of the reason this footage is so rarely seen. As he comes over the top, he is starring death right in the face. There is a bronze plaque at the base of the pedistrian bridge in rememberance of Laswell and the jump.
I absolutely love this video! But I know of something else that everyone would love. It is kinda creepy, because it actually works, but awesome. I found a way to figure out your crush. Try it for yourself at crush.wantsDOTit(replace DOT with .) before you say it's impossible.
