Squirrel Animation - Motion Reference

Love it :) I was going to animate a squirrel when I was at Bournemouth. didn't get round to it though... There's loads of the critters in the gardens for inspiration!

@Theicemonkeyjr If you can draw i definately would, or do the BA at portsmouth. I did a BSc at portsmouth and its more focused on modelling, i wouldn't recommend it someone who wants to be an animator.

What did you use to make this, was it difficult?

As I said in the description- it was made in Maya 8.5.

Difficult? Well...I had already had a year at university on an animation degree and I had learnt alot by the time i came to do this project so it wasn't too bad. Also, it was a very basic model and a basic rig.

Looks nice. I assume that the 'jerkiness' that others mentioned might have come from the actual subject. Squirrels can be quite squirrely.

yea it was suposed to be that jerky- its not because of bad animation on my end. Its just the way squirrels move.

I found footage on BBC motion gallery and had the video on another computer screen as I animated.

I really like the beginning when hes looking up and around but around :12 its gets a bit spastic and less natural.

Overall great first animation, I look forward to seeing future projects.
