  • Love it :) I was going to animate a squirrel when I was at Bournemouth. didn't get round to it though... There's loads of the critters in the gardens for inspiration!

  • FANTASTIC

  • Can't imagine a better squirrel animation. Kudos!

  • cool, looks realistic

  • brilliant

  • brilliant, im thinking of going to bournmouth uni to do 3d animation and modling

  • @Theicemonkeyjr If you can draw i definately would, or do the BA at portsmouth. I did a BSc at portsmouth and its more focused on modelling, i wouldn't recommend it someone who wants to be an animator.

  • Looks clean and well done. =)

  • not bad very good you could make an animated film about squirrels using that thing

  • A few questions xD

(APART FROM THAT looks like you'll be successful in animation etc, xD)

What did you use to make this, was it difficult?

  • As I said in the description- it was made in Maya 8.5.

Difficult? Well...I had already had a year at university on an animation degree and I had learnt alot by the time i came to do this project so it wasn't too bad. Also, it was a very basic model and a basic rig.

  • btw, thankyou for the comment :P Im now working as an animator on a cbeebies cartoon show :)

  • wow, just feels interesting talking to you, where you helping out if you don't mind me telling?

  • Looks nice. I assume that the 'jerkiness' that others mentioned might have come from the actual subject. Squirrels can be quite squirrely.

  • yea it was suposed to be that jerky- its not because of bad animation on my end. Its just the way squirrels move.

    thanks for the comment :)

  • nice work.

  • Movements could be smoother.

    But looks fun =)

  • thats awsome, did u film a real squirrel and use that to get the movements and stuff?

  • I found footage on BBC motion gallery and had the video on another computer screen as I animated.

  • Now let's see a swarm of these things attacking Verucca Salt! >:D

  • lol hopefully one day ^_^

  • Really good :D

  • agree with matt, would like to see it rendered with skin and fur

  • This is really fantastic mate, just the right balance between realism and caricature. Really well done.

  • I really like the beginning when hes looking up and around but around :12 its gets a bit spastic and less natural.

Overall great first animation, I look forward to seeing future projects.
