Wow- you are such a sweet cat mom. My cat hates the vet when we go. He hisses non stop in the waiting room. The older they get, the worse they get. I also noticed when I changed carriers my cat started to hate it. I got the portable soft one and he doesnt like it at all. The carrier you have (hard plastic) he did alot better. I learned put a towel, a toy, and a treat so they respond better. Surely food will seduce them into the carrier. A tranquilzer from the vet will help for travel.

I remember when my cat got fleas and my mom was giving her a bath, she asked me to help so I did. I got my little blue chair that I had since I was a baby and I put it in the tub. I held my cat down and she squirmed out of my hands, my chairs legs slid out beneath me and I was the one who got the bath! LoL xD

I had to take my cat to the vet a few months ago and she cried all the way there. It made me want to cry. Than later that night my cat had a fever from the shots they gave her and she was sick the whole night. :( i felt bad, but she was fine the next morning.

God, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels like a terrible person on days like that... :(

I raised my two kittens from birth, and I tote them around everywhere with me so I usually don't get the heart-wrenching cries in the car, but when it comes time for the monthly baths I feel like a terrible human. :<

Plus, every once in a while if a truck or some car blares their horn, Gatsby (my little girl) freaks out and DOES do the screaming of horror in the car, so it's absolutely traumatizing. :<

My cat hates those carriers as well but I discovered that if I cover up the front, the part where they can see it calms her down. She gets really scared because she can see what is going on around her and gets really freaked out. You might want to try that as well, although I can't guarantee that it will work.

I understand you though, I was on the verge of tears when I hear her tortured cries inside the thing.

Callie , someone showed me many years ago that if you put a hand-towel on the bottom of the tub (or deep sink, whatever you happen to be bathing the cat it) The Cat is much less unhappy about it because they have something to Clutch with their feet !

The bottoms of sinks and tubs are smooth and it freaks them out, but when they can clutch a cloth on the bottom with their feet it makes them feel a little better about the situation, they don't fight you as much or try to hop out. :-)

We all know that cats hate water, but the reason your cats cried in the car is that the pressure and noise hurts their ears. Sometimes it helps to crack a window and always put a rag towel in incase they have an accident. :)

My cat would do exactually the same thing when I would bathe him, sad to say he never got used to it and I always dredded giving him a bath, too stressful. Smart choice about your cats not making the trip to Singapore, it would be too stressful for them. Take care!

I remember when my cat would act like that! I've had my cat (George he's 15 pounds! He's on a diet xD) since i was 5 and i would always give him baths. At first he would act like Lu (wasn't lu that got a bath?) Now he seems to not care very much. He just doesn't like the drying off process.. Lol!

Our vet says that one of the cruellist things you can do to a cat is declaw it. They can't groom themselves properly or defend themselves should the need arise. It is a selfish thing to do.
