  • Anybody know the name of this episode ?????

  • Been looking for this cartoon for years just so I could watch the Cab Calloway rooster and his freakishly large teeth in all his glory!

  • ditto

  • they're cumming

  • What's called song from 6:47?

  • Comment removed

  • @nocnafuria57 It's called "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby"

  • Why, that's just how my farm runs!

  • hmm porky laying eggs is that like bacon n eggs in 1?

  • I love this! It's a classic, Holy Crap, I just layed an egg

  • oooooooo fwankeeeeeee!!!!!!

  • Is that really Bing singing in this cartoon?

  • I <3 Frank Sinatra!

  • Sorry Fanky, but Bing is still king!

  • @GuyverLycan03 Lol WRONG

  • It's great being a crooner when I'm one myself :D

  • It somehow worked with Porky, too. Cartoons break all the rules. :D

  • In my adult life, any time I've met a guy with a deep, sexy voice, I have recalled this cartoon! I kept hoping some day I'd see it again! Thank you so much for posting it!

  • I saw this as a kid on TV, and having been born in 1952, I had no idea what this about until years later.

  • Director by Frank Tashlin.

  • I wonder how many cartoons has Porky wearing pants.

  • Bing wins by virtue of making a hen change direction while laying eggs at 6:11

  • whats the song starting from 1:05?

  • @PaDesai98 Powerhouse A.

  • Originally released (as a Looney Tune) on May 6, 1944 and re-issued as a "Blue Ribbon" on February 12, 1949, this cartoon was nominated for an Oscar but lost out to the Tom and Jerry short "Mouse Trouble."

Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra-type roosters vie for the attention of Porky's chickens to keep their egg production going during World War II.

  • @davemadson, and Swooner crooner is the last BR cartoon with the 1948-49 shield (first was I think Don't Look Now)

  • isn it frankie is just a girl name?

  • what is the name off that song? 2:21 and 5:33

  • @bijqcxqokj2 The first song is "It Can't Be Wrong", originally sung by Dick Haymes but a rare recording does exist of Frankie singing it. The second is "When My Dreamboat Comes Home", originally sung by Fats Domino (I'm not sure if Bing ever truly performed it, and the original is more swing than soft and gentle).

  • @NoelleLaBelle

Fats Domino first recorded in the post-World War 2 era 1940s. But I THINK Fats WALLER is your man, but I DO know of Bing making it big at #1 around 1935-36.

  • @bijqcxqokj2 5:33 - When My Dreamboat Comes Home

  • It's Fraaaankieee!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha Ha Ha! I just love it when these 1940's cartoons make fun of the Hollywood idols of those times, such as Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth, Gene Kelly, Carmen Miranda, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Fred Astaire, Shirley Temple, Ginger Rogers, Humphrey Bogart, Vivien Leigh... The list is endless, as endless as the talent of those animators. Their art shall live forever in the hearts of every cartoon and movie fan!

  • If I had to choose out of these crooners, I'd pick Bing. I love Frankie, but Bing flips me over with those baby eyes of blue and that beautiful voice.

For the auditions, as much as I love Durante and Al Jolson, I'd definitely fall for Cab Calloway. That man had the move and the hottest swinging music of the old days

  • God i miss this type of cartoon entertainment. Compared to the crap they have on tv now, this is absolute gold.

  • busque esto cielo y tierra!!!!!! gracias!!!!!!

  • I second what they (above said). This is my absolute fave! THANK YOU for making my day. Miss this stuff so much.

  • did sinatra ever sang as time goes by?

  • @cyberyanmar Yes, On his last Capitol Records album, "Point of no Return"

  • I didn't know the 4th rooster was cab calloway. At first i thought it was little richard lol

  • The Rooster Auditions

    1: Vaughn Monroe

    2: Al Jolson

    3: Jimmy Durante

    4: Cab Calloway

    5: Bing Crosby

    Gotta love it

  • @pg13superstar I'd heard #1 was Nelson Eddy - apparently "Shortnin' Bread" was a signature song for him. That explained for me why Dudley Do-Right sang it too.

  • "ditto"

    Xp

  • Wow, i love this! Do you know if it was actually bing and frank? or just people who sound like them?

  • @cage336 voice actors with good talent, such as mel blanc. back at this time cartoons were seen a fun bits to a movie, not serious enough to have real celebrities doing thier own voices.

  • @cage336 I do know that the guy voicing Bing is also an animator for Warner Brothers. He played Bing Crosby in every cartoon his caracature appeared in.
