Terrible car. Its what my driving instructor's car was, and what I learned in, but its an utter crap car. It does what the average driver needs, but goddamn the steering and pedals are just so vague and numb. The entire interior is plastic, and you get heavily outdated drum brakes, but you can't expect much from a $15-16k new car. Hell, the stopping distance from 60-0 is on par with minivans! No person who actually likes cars will want or like a Corolla, not even as a daily driver.

i raced a new corolla with my 1994 f150 and it smoked me by alot .had to be the v6.and the thing that pissed me off that it was a hot girl driveing it.
I actually like Honda Civic more compared to Toyota Corolla. Civic is a bit expensive, but interior quality IMO is way better than Corolla. Also like Kelsey Mays pointed out, radio and AC control is a bit complicated.
I think Corolla needs a major redesign, otherwise it'll become the ugliest car I have seen.

I own one and it serves it's purpose. The corolla is a value compact car so don't expect a luxuries car out of it. I did like it better then the 2006 Model that I previously own due to restyling and better ride quality. I do wish Toyota would leave the out side temp gauge and the clock as it was because now you can see both at once.

Yes it is. btw my friend lost her 2009corolla. The brakes on it did'nt work, and she ended up going into a ditch, and when they went to pull it out, it would'nt start. They took it up to the dealership and found out the engine locked up on it. Toyota Quality is crap! Kelly blue book realized that, and now all toyota have lost 10% of their resale value, because of the recall. This recall goes to show how shitty Toyota quality is!

um you must be like really a civic fan period and I respect that, but if you haven't driven a corolla, when you do it you'll learn that corollas are more maneuverable. When you implement the wide flat wheels (for racing) it becomes evem more maneuverable like a Mercedez Benz. I move car for Hertz so I get to drive all models and makes and I'm here to tell you that the Focus is superior to the Civic and Corolla. The Focus is more comfortable, the dash is better designed, and it will out run the Civic and Corolla...been there done that!
I wouldn't put my son or daughter in the Civic or Corolla, but I would in the Focus. The Focus just feels safer.

I don't like any american brand cars, except Ford trucks (which are fairly decent, due to high commercial demand) and Dodge minivans. A lot of people say FUCK JAPS CARS, well most of TOYOTA cars made and assembled in US, lots of FORD parts are actually imported from china and japan. Toyota is just as american as Ford, GM, and other car manufacturers. Big 3 finally got a kick in the ass, and now they started making better cars. We can only find out in 10-15 years.
I've always loved American cars, but I respect Euro and Asian cars as well. I'm not being biased here, just give the Focus a little more credit. I was never a fan, but it IS a nice car nowadays.

my 99 camry has very little rust less infact than people i know who have 2002 tarus, 2004 mazda3 and hyundai. i mean wh y are the fenders on these cars rusting out when my 99 camry isnt and my dads 04 camrty isnt
I like the better fuel economy, more refined quiet ride, more roomy Corolla. The long dash and big windshield do nothing for the weak Honda A/C system. For sporty handling I'd get the Corolla S or a Mazda 3. Stability control is standard on the 2010 Corolla.
This guy keeps talking about the POS sub-compact civic. The civic is noisy,cramped,ugly and cheap feeling. Sure the corolla is boring, but it feels a lot more solid. I'd get tired of the hard seats and bumpy ride and jerky steering in a civic after 5 minutes.
He only referred to the Civic four times, and he did not only mention the Civic, he talked about other cars as well. Why single out the Civic? Also the comparisons he made are not decision makers (cup holders and center console, etc.), they're both similar minus the AC controls.
You might not like the Civic, but your opinions on the car are not facts. I'm a '09 TSX owner but I still find the Civic fun to drive, quite comfortable and liking the new '09 aggressive look.

Had a EPS Power Steering Problem Customer support didn't help. The steering was jerking (pulling) when driving after 30 min. After 3 weeks in Toyota Service and just 1 month of ownership to cut my losses and got the same make and model 2009 Corrolla and paid $1300 since it was "used".

I own one and it serves it's purpose. The corolla is a value compact car so don't expect a luxuries car out of it. I did like it better then the 2006 Model that I previously own due to restyling and better ride quality. I do wish Toyota would leave the out side temp gauge and the clock as it was because now you can see both at once.

Whys does he like Toyota so much???The dash in this car looks cheap, and out dated. My friend has one. It's really plain looking. He wants to say the buttons on the radio are "High Quality", but the are cheap as hell. A few of my friends buttons on hers fell off. Cheap ass car, I won't buy. =(

Yes it is. btw my friend lost her 2009corolla. The brakes on it did'nt work, and she ended up going into a ditch, and when they went to pull it out, it would'nt start. They took it up to the dealership and found out the engine locked up on it. Toyota Quality is crap! Kelly blue book realized that, and now all toyota have lost 10% of their resale value, because of the recall. This recall goes to show how shitty Toyota quality is!

um you must be like really a civic fan period and I respect that, but if you haven't driven a corolla, when you do it you'll learn that corollas are more maneuverable. When you implement the wide flat wheels (for racing) it becomes evem more maneuverable like a Mercedez Benz. The civic is none the less a wanna be racing car, which is undoubtedly hilarious with all of that racing cover and when you check the hood there's only a small ass engine...lol like it's going to burn some wheels..lol

I move car for Hertz so I get to drive all models and makes and I'm here to tell you that the Focus is superior to the Civic and Corolla. The Focus is more comfortable, the dash is better designed, and it will out run the Civic and Corolla...been there done that!
I wouldn't put my son or daughter in the Civic or Corolla, but I would in the Focus. The Focus just feels safer.
I'm not biased, just impressed with the Focus. Ford did their homework on this one!

I don't like any american brand cars, except Ford trucks (which are fairly decent, due to high commercial demand) and Dodge minivans. A lot of people say FUCK JAPS CARS, well most of TOYOTA cars made and assembled in US, lots of FORD parts are actually imported from china and japan. Toyota is just as american as Ford, GM, and other car manufacturers. Big 3 finally got a kick in the ass, and now they started making better cars. We can only find out in 10-15 years.

I've always loved American cars, but I respect Euro and Asian cars as well. I'm not being biased here, just give the Focus a little more credit. I was never a fan, but it IS a nice car nowadays.

yeah but the corolla has more room, not to mention the corolla takes 1.8 liters where as the civic takes 2.0 liters of fuel. The Toyota is way more economical in gas also. Most Civics fans get ripped off thinking they are getting a really good deal.

um you must be like a really corolla fan so i respect that,but if u check the civic is allsow a 1.8 liters,and it has more power and it gets better mpg at the highway.yeah it might be a little bit expensive and thats why allot of people get stuck with a corolla and the civic is more fun to drive than a corolla...if u have any doubt that the corolla beats the civic watch the comparison videos

I like the better fuel economy, more refined quiet ride, more roomy Corolla. The long dash and big windshield do nothing for the weak Honda A/C system. For sporty handling I'd get the Corolla S or a Mazda 3. Stability control is standard on the 2010 Corolla.

This guy keeps talking about the POS sub-compact civic. The civic is noisy,cramped,ugly and cheap feeling. Sure the corolla is boring, but it feels a lot more solid. I'd get tired of the hard seats and bumpy ride and jerky steering in a civic after 5 minutes.

He only referred to the Civic four times, and he did not only mention the Civic, he talked about other cars as well. Why single out the Civic? Also the comparisons he made are not decision makers (cup holders and center console, etc.), they're both similar minus the AC controls.
You might not like the Civic, but your opinions on the car are not facts. I'm a '09 TSX owner but I still find the Civic fun to drive, quite comfortable and liking the new '09 aggressive look.

Keeping it short:
Had a EPS Power Steering Problem Customer support didn't help. The steering was jerking (pulling) when driving after 30 min. After 3 weeks in Toyota Service and just 1 month of ownership to cut my losses and got the same make and model 2009 Corrolla and paid $1300 since it was "used".

You can't compare civics to corollas... First, civics are more for the ''sporty'' aspect of driving (V-Tech) but the corolla is more for comfort... Civics aren't comfy at all... corollas are... Civics are faster thought.

Corolla has that damn electronic steering that a whole bunch of people hate. I bought the Civic, and love it. 36 MPG every time. Great car. I would have went with the Corolla considering the deal I had lined up but that steering is scary.

i changed my mind now. im now looking at this car and possibly a used honda accord. the scion seems like a chick car to me and somewhat like a toy car. it's very nice besides that. this is a first car, so a g35 is out of the question. i need insurance as cheap as possible. the g35 doesn't compare to a corolla.
