hello, i like your vids on 3dsmax and Ogre3D. I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on Ogre compared to other graphics engines. I am thinking about either coding my own from scratch with DirectX or going with Ogre for this new project i will start in the near future.

Writing an Engine from scratch is usually an underestimated task. It is a collosal work and if this is your big first project its better to stay with a rendering engine already made. Ogre is the best you could find out there, more than 8 years of development, great addons, the forum is very active, and the mesh format for the models is great (unlike irrlitch or other engines).

You have exporters for almost any 3D app, and its just very well made.

I agree. There is no point to hardcode your own engine when there is something like Ogre already.

omg this is making me feel hopeless to make an online game :( I want my graphics to be World of Warcraft quality, not runescape quality :(

@1994DavidLotro there is no hope of making a game that high of quality by yourself. wow was made by hundreds of skilled programmers and designers.

That was kind of the intention, in fact i was thinking about doing a remake of Prince of Persia.
