One of the best series ever made. Fuck you Obama for basically eliminating NASA because you decided to bail out the banks (because they put you in office).
"We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things NOT because they are easy, but because they are hard."..still gives me goosebumps.
I have created a music album which charts the history of the Space Race.
Space Race by Rhesus Monkey.
The album charts the start of the Space Race with Sputnik 1957, Yuri Gagarin's first human space flight, John Glenn's Triple Orbit, Ed White's Gemini IV Space Walk, then onto Apollo.
You can view videos of three tracks from the album within my YouTube channel.

This is the SECOND Hollywood production made about the subject, the first filmed By stanley kubrick, and performed By CIA agents on the biggest Con ever made to man kind,To see the inside watch something Funny Happens on the way to the Moon, or better get Hi Def pictures of module landers and expand untill you see theyre props, made with cardboard, and scotch tape, and the fake horizon is barelly few feet behind the actors!!!!LOL.
As I was born just after the last Apollo mission, and I love this series so much. I want to see a sequel. I want to see HBO's "From Earth to Mars". Oh, right, first, I need NASA to get there, and then HBO can make an awesome series. Do it, DO IT NOW!
"The earth is the cradle of humankind, but one cannot live in the cradle forever."
I had a chance to have Harrison Schmitt, the Apollo 17 Lunar Modual Pilot, sign my copy of the series in 2002 when he spoke at the University of South Dakota. I was only 8 @ the time, but I asked him what he thought of the series and he said it did a nice jib for Hollywood. I also asked him if we would get back to the moon using a combination of Shuttle and Apollo technology, which was later the basis for Constellation, and he thought we would.
@cubswinin1969 If you google Harison Schmitt yahoo chat, the website everwoodonline has a transcript of a yahoo chat that that he and Tom Amandes did back when the series first aired.
Amandes admits he doesn't resemble Schmitt much (I think he's a much closer match to the real Jim McDivitt). I'm always curious what the real people thought of the series.
When i see the bit of the fire inside the command module, and how those three astronauts burned to death. I think about the conspiracy theorist pricks and how they say the astronauts were killed because they knew too much. It makes me so angry how they would disrespect the memory of those men that way.
@GTBurns48215 you Sir are an idiot! Obmana is not trying to be JFK in anyway, he was inspired by him as well as all the other presidents before him except for the last 2 idiots Dumb and Dumber that is George Bush senior and George Bush Junior, like father like son and i am sure you are one of the idiots that voted them in.Obama is doing better that they ever did.
@GTBurns48215 Sorry if I (a Canadian) insults anyone here; however, did everyone notice how ironic it was that President Obama talked about “a Sputnik moment" in his State of the Union Speech? (Mr. Obama being the one that has destroyed the US space leadership for decades by cancelling Ares and a trip to Mars.)
@Marakulous43 I do not understand what you just said to me. As a Canadian, I cannot vote in your elections and I understand my views of America's ability in space is not through my tax dollars. But, President Bush did committ the US to space program to get to Mars and President Obama cancelled it.
No matter what your political beliefs--those are the facts.
@mikefastener Listen old man, I have better things to do right now. When the time is right I will debate you anytime, and yes I WILL OWN YOU!!! Now go run along to your mammy, I'm sure she needs you right now.
@mikefastener Simply allowing ourselves to be submerged into the past is not a way to go into the future. We have to try and do new things because when they were done in the past, they were new then too.
Another example of how oftentimes, fiction can never be as awesome as reality. I'm reminded of how after some people watched Apollo 13, and said it had a 'typical Hollywood ending'. The closest Hollywood has ever come is bullshit like Armageddon.
I'd love to ask one of the REAL Apollo astronauts what they thought of this series. I've always wondered if Al Shepard got to see it (he died a few months after it first aired).
Never has there been a better series or film depicting the danger and adventure associated with Space Travel. Fantastic. Spider, and "Is that all there is?" were my favorite episodes although all of them were great, the Apollo 1 was a very hard hitting one.
@rammsteinnut47 Well, the Apollo 13 movie did a pretty (understatement) awesome (end of understatement) job of it, too, although it was more sensational than adventurous.
Have you read any of Andy Chaikin's books? They aren't film, but I'd recommend them to any space enthusiast.
i have watched from earth to the moon for 3 or 4 years i just brought the signature edition one of my favorite mini series the episode Spider is one of the best in my opinion
A great series telling an important part of American history. Everyone knows about the Apollo 11 landing but there were many other stories to tell that came both before and after. This gives people a chance to learn some of them.
How many average people would know about the close call on Gemini 8, or about Al Shepard's triumphant return to space after being grounded for nearly a decade?
