  • uploader is a moron... period...

  • He did act like an idiot, and spewed lots of crap.

But if he is correct that wages are only 6% of the income they get for the wares, then he does have a valid point. But you probably have to triple the pay to get US citizens to do the job.

That would amount to a 12% increase in price. But I'm pretty sure it will be more like a 50% increase. Why stop at 12% when they have a great excuse to raise prices.

  • I was a commercial fisherman for 7 years. I made $10,000 a month. Migrant workers work just as hard and don't make a fraction of that. Migrant workers would dominate the fishing industry (not to mention logging, oil rigging, etc.) if it wasn't so nepotistic. Steve King is a moron.

  • Republicans are usually pretty stiff. Devoid of humor, and take themselves so seriously. I don't think they understand farce. But, hey, I could be wrong.

  • @santu55ubito ...the world commands serious people ...meaning you will not find a liberal clown in the CIA headquarters ...why because the world demands conservative serious people ..

  • Ugh... It's time's like this that I wish I had a 3D computer... so I could punch this douchebag Representative in the face

  • Aww yes true incite from a true American from Iowa! What a joke! Not that all from Iowa are this way but this is coming from a state who had Herman Cain at the top of their GOP voter polls and then Newt Gingrich. Sorry, but the truth is that most Americans don't want to do these sorts of jobs for such low pay. Simple as that, now shouldn't you people be doing work that is pertinent to the advancement of the United States, not bullshit like this.

  • "Let's look at jobs that don't involve sitting behind a desk." He says while sitting behind a desk and getting paid 6 figures.

  • @sharpmouth58 I just realized that when you said it. Gosh, isn't this a funny world.

  • You got it ass-backwards son.

And I'm sure these Congressmen are such experts on hard labor jobs that "don't require sitting behind a desk all day." Ironic how Congress will outlaw drugs, when they're so clearly high as a kite & out of touch with the real world.

  • republicans make no sense. uphold american workers. then we should put tariffs on every import to bring jobs back

  • another nonconstructive Republican diatribe.

  • His rant reeks of blatant racism and nationalism, not to mention logical fallacies. He bitches about immigrants stealing work when his ancestors were once immigrants who stole this land from the native population. Or maybe we should mention the immigrants who we welcomed with open arms into this country during the Civil War era, put a rifle in their hands, and told them to go die for their new government. I guess we only like immigrants if they are dying for us, Mr. King?

  • US soldiers are usually desperate for a good paying job and are brainwashed by guys like you (puppets for corporations and wealthy Americans) to --in reality-- save their assets. US workers have at least real jobs with rights! Right? Of course because of deregulations of financial institutions voted by both Dem. and Rep. in the last 40 years, thanks to lobbying and gifts, many of them are suffering. It is not the fault of poor, illegal immigrants who thought they could make it in the US.

  • Then, you go on to make a reference to King Crab fisherman, who make thousands of dollars in a few months, in a debate about immigrants (and unless you're Native American, you ARE and immigrant or a direct descendant of an immigrant) making a few dollars an hour with no rights to take recourse against abuse in the workplace.

  • Rep. King..you're really making a reference to Stephen Colbert's job "sitting behind a desk," when you sit on your ass and profit from passing legislation that you yourself don't fully understand, at the expense of the American people?

  • He said it plainly that Americans wont do the work because they want more money for it. And farm owners won't increase wages because they can hire illegal immigrants for less money. Economist say that food price would go up 4 or 5 times the price of what they are but Steve King clearly showed that if you increased farm wages by 40%, average household food spending cost would only go up by $8. So whats the holdup? Answer: Business Owners.

  • @bigdimmortal He also didn't say where the farm workers' wage is relative to, say, minimum wage, or a job that's similarly demanding. Not to mention the cost increase of actually providing benefits, and probably drastically improving working conditions. He didn't actually show anything; he made a more specific statement (which could still be completely wrong), while leaving out the important details that didn't support his point.

  • this is a guy talking. it's not like he and colbert are debating back and forth, therefore i fail to see how steve king is "owning" anyone. If that guy was in an actual debate with colbert, he would get his ass handed to him, and that is a fact.

  • i mean..isnt he right? if ppl got paid better wouldnt they work for it? 1 million acr. f land has been removed..the american ppl wanna work..the corporations want cheap labour..king is right..oh..n xpecting a labourer to earn as much as an executive is bull..im a dentist n if my nurse earnd as much as me for doing the 'moving aroud of getting instruments' id b pissed off!! BRING JOBS BACK TO AMERICA!! same people who defend the opp. shud suppprt apple's exporting of workers to china.

  • What in the name of mighty hell would you know about hard working Americans. You are a Politition. You get paid mountains of cash. Im 20 goddamn years old and I still dont know what you're paid to do. I know youre not being paid to run this country cause you're doing a horrible job. REAL hard working Americans are infact the migrant workers and the American citizens who bust their ass from dawn to dusk and basically get paid nothing.

  • @WatchdogDisciple a fucking men brother. The fact that PHYSICAL labor doesn't make MORE than the management that gets to sit on their ass and work with their so called "brain power" is utter bullshit. You do hard labor that THEY aren't even willing to do you get your fucking fair share.

  • what a moron

  • God bless America and no place else

I'm a college graduated, I ain't no pickin mother fucking beans

God bless America and no place else

  • @nijgnohmik Great for you, but somebody has to, and those who do shouldn't be getting belittled.

  • FUCK YOU!

  • And i mean steve king

  • His speech bents on disillusion, hyperbolic statements, and irrationality.

  • what a douche bag

  • not an own.

  • I do not like Rep. Steve King.

  • this guy misses the point that Americans don't want these jobs.

  • @turbojb Americans no longer have the luxury to choose. In the near future I foresee the people in the fields picking crops to largely be Americans, some with MBAs.

  • @ReviewsByErik I highly dought that Americans with MBA's will be picking crops in rural America. Americans dont want these jobs. We are a country of immigrants.

  • Wait, I thought that water froze at around 32 degrees....He was fixing some under water pump in 20 degree water....My Ass! So funny how he spews out a bunch of BS, and ignores the truth! The corp. want the immigrants here, they just want to act like they don't! We the consumers want their labor, yet we want to act like we dont! Colbert for President!

  • I wonder how much Steve king got paid to say all that bullshit

  • Yeah, "American" what constitutes an American? Because I'm Puerto rican born in the USA. And still I don't have a fucking good job because of you "Americans".

  • "Let's spend time considering all the real jobs out there, ones that require real hard labor instead of sitting behind a desk"

So it sounds like Steve King just said he doesn't have a real job. I can agree with that =]

  • So, is he saying if you do hard and dirty work even as an immigrant, you're a proud American?

  • Did i miss the ownage? Oh. I guess it didn't really happen.

    Not surprised...

  • King and his kind are devoid of empathy and proud of being cruel, a typical sociopath.

  • respectable work shouldnt be hard and dirty work, respectable work should be work that makes you happy, thats what the american dream was, but is non existent now.

this country needs another revolution :)

  • it pisses me off that this guy thinks that "hard and dirty work" is the only sort of respectable thing to do in life

  • news flash: sorry anti illigal immigrants, you might also be an illigal immigrant ;). ah yes, most of this country is made of illigal immigrants that got away with it just becouse they invaded ACTUAL native americans with guns. oh and the illigal problom happend becouse A: some people are just greedy and B: the americans that could have worked before where too LAZY or not good enough for the job and where simply out skilled.

  • @Amadeo790 I agree that what my European ancestors have done is wrong but I will argue with the fact on whether or not it was illegal. The Natives did not have laws banning us from coming to the land so technically we weren't illegal.

  • @Woopycushiun people that truely have a real respect of the land and the spirits(god). if i remember right, they did not belive in owning land like invading imperialism. if they where equaly minded as we are now, there would surely be a law against the european settlers after they started to invade and steal every thing they needed, sadly, some times using god as an excuse wich is an abomination. iguess trying to stop illigal immigrants isok only if its realy hurting othersandnot being insulting

  • he said everything i was thinking

  • Steve wants higher wage and better working condition for the illegal workers, so the jobs can attract the local work force. So I don't understand why this guy brought up the hard working American wants higher pay, he really didn't said much except admitting American don't want the job the illegals are doing.

  • @japace61 ??? the whole reason the illegal workers are hired to begin with is because they are willing to put up with low wages and bad working conditions.

  • @centerrightpunk Better working condition and higher wages will attract more local force. Sounds to me, Steve is proposing a way to create more jobs so that many Americans are willing to take.

  • And create enough competition so people would think twice before hiring illegals.

  • Owned? Look up the meaning of that colloquialism

  • Come on people, how many clicked this link because of Steve King? Hes starting shit to get attention and ride of Colberts success.

  • I don't get it... In King's opening statement, he seemed to be advocating the increase of labor wages, while Colbert, in his statement, seemed to be advocating the increase of labor wages (as well as the betterment of working conditions).

So mandate an increase in wages and a betterment of working conditions, and the left will achieve their talking points (workers' rights) while the right achieves their talking points (jobs for Americans). What's the hangup here people?

  • @BigTanker22 it's simply, republicans. they are the reason why this country will fall back and eventually crumble

  • How can this goon compare our Marines, among the most respected of all Americans, who get room and board for free, who often get their college paid for, and who are treated as heroes, to migrant workers, among the least respected of all Americans, who work in shitty conditions and have to raise children on minimum wage or lower? This is one of the most soulless depictions of American labor I've ever seen.

  • Brought up military.

Sat behind a desk in a suit and bitched about people who do so.

Brought up "guy who calls himself 'Joe' the unskilled plumber's assistant".

I am pretty sure King owned himself.

  • Colbert is so much more in the spirit of Christ then this douche

  • hah he brought up Joe The Plumber who is a fucking phony

  • Steve King is a huge cunt

  • Dislikeded.

    Bitches.

  • id rather have someone who isnt biased, has a sense of humor and stands by his opinions to run this country then some serious cranky asshole like this guy

  • Wow! So only the elitests flush, eh? *oooh stinky-poo*

To be honest, being owned consists of two people actively debating a point where one silences the other with a logical reponse that manages to highlight, for instance, the stupidity of the others' original statment... it does not consist of someone spouting off their rhetoric and then yielding before it can be countered in any way. That's just someone spouting off which is exactly what this King fellow was doing in this video.

  • How is being a self-righteous hypocrite "owning" someone?

  • @LoK3y what was hypocritical about his response?

  • Well, except for the fact that Marines get a $40,000 signing bonus and a free college education. Yeah, I actually know people who are Marines you piece of shit and using their name like you care or actually know their plight is offensive

  • Sorry buddy. You got it backwards.

  • @Spiderzumbie didnt own nobody xD

  • @Spiderzumbie did you see the end?

  • One of the jobs I did to work my way through college was picking beans. They DO grow at ground level, and it WAS hard on the back, but - contrary to what has been alleged - this American and a host of her classmates were willing to do it. That said, I do not object to immigrants doing this job. My objection is to ILLEGALS crossing into our country for this or any other reason. We have a need and a right to know who is here.

  • Steven Colbert brought up very serious and valid points of criticism. It is just like the Republican party to mock intellectuals and throw around insults.

As for be a comedian and maybe the republicans could call Elmo of Sesame st. LOL as they did in 2002. LMFAO d(^^)b HaHa

  • it's obvious that colbert made a clear point about us being hypocrites when it comes to illegals. and some people have the nerve to not acknowledge that point.

  • Colbert made a total ASS out of himself and a MOCKERY of the whole issue.

After this fiasco you can bet Congresses approval rating will go from 14% down to ZERO!

  • @NWsubmom

in 2006 ,the republicans call elmo of sesame st. to testify in a congress hear/ about education.

do you want to remade that statement, or pretend indignation of 2006?

  • Comment removed

  • @NWsubmom well if you feel that way, would you take a low paying farm job from an illegal?

you say they take our work, right?

and if you can't give me anything else other than an honest answer, stop your complaining about what your idea of what is wrong.

  • Hey @viewfromathrone,

I think you got it wrong.I say the all thing and it's Colbert that OWNS rep steve king.

  • I like how you didn't put in Stephen Colbert's response, Colbert owned this faggot just as hard. Go back to fucking your sister you inbred, too many fucking redneck faggots in this country anyway.
