I bought my ps3 and used not intercoolers at all and it ran just fine for 5 years. Just recently got the YLOD. Now i'm going to send it in to Playstation to get refurbished.
I modded mine with 2 7200RPM 40mm LED fans in the back, and a Delta 10,000 RPM 70mm fan on the side. the noise of the fans surprisingly Harmonize so well that the extra noise is not too bothersome. Imma post a vid once I make it cleaner.
This Intercooler can not damage the PS3. The Power coming from the cord is AC and is Converted to DC inside the PS3, AC current Has Higher voltage when more power needs to be drawn.
The Xbox360 intercooler causes damage cause the Cord for the Xbox Converts the AC current to DC current in the brick, which means that the Intercooler IS indeed stealing power from the 360, putting strain on it.
I tested the voltage of the PS3 PSU with the cooler, and no Power is lost whatsoever.
Somehow when I turn on the intercooler it makes a loud noise and my ps3 gets all messed up the vision in the screen is all fucked up but u ca use it but there are fragments in the screen. What should I do is my ps3 broken?
another great solution is to purchase some superb quality wireless headphones. mmmmm....love playing at night when everyone is asleep. you can't hear the fan at all and its not loud enough to wake anyone...unless youre in the same room. heh.
@96dbz I REALLY Recommend getting it I have a 60gb ps3 too. Mine just overheated 2 days ago, and it caused the playstation to get the Yellow Light Of Death.
...hm not that i know of. but when my dad got the intercooler for the 360 the power cord doesint go in perfectly so he has to get tape to hold it in lol.
Yea in the description it says it burns the power cord but you can buy another 1 rite? id rather cool my ps and pay for cords than pay 150$ every 6months for the yellow light of death
if thats keep up then where ever you brought it and still have the warranty you could exchange for a ps2 slim. my ps3 had the damn yellow light >:( so my aunt still have the warranty from costco exchange it for a new ps3 slim :). so ya try to exchange it if possible so you dont have to deal with the problem most of the time.
Mines was fine for 2 years then nothing. now 6 months later after i get my favorite game tekken 6 it breaks outta warranty. they give you a 90 day warranty like its something. funny thing is they fixed the problem but not mine

People say it breaks ur ps3 because they get the YLOD sometime after getting themselves an Intercooler.
It doesnt break it. I have one and i just turn it off when the system is already nice and cool. I also never use high mode.
If it does any harm at all to ur system it makes the CPU too cool and it slows down and eventually freezes.
