I'f he had meant to hit with the internal part of his foot on the left side of the foot, that would give it the cross effect into the area. This goal was no fluke in my Opinion.

But, in that situation Roberto Carlos found himself in, scoring with his right foot would have made him unhuman, as he would have had to change the momentum of his body and the positioning in a tiny amount of time. However, I agree that putting swerve on the ball using the outside of your foot is alot harder to master (and get it perfect) like that, rather than using the inside of the foot.

However, doing so is very rare because it's a much less natural movement since you can't just turn and kick - you have to be on the other side of the ball to do so, and it would be impossible for Carlos to do that here since the ball was going out of bounds.

When you're at the corner flag the only logical way for getting the ball in front of the goal is a cross hopefully followed by a finishing kick or a headbutt. That's what the goalie is preparing for as well. If he had been at the front post then he would have really left the goal open. He's a human after all and not even the best goalie can be ready for everything.
