I am now earning 80,000 a year and i am only 19. I have been sent to trainings all over the world. love what you do. Always try to work with coorporate aviation rather than airlines. Airlines don't know who you are. to the you are just a number. You have to be good a t what you do. show your company what you a re capable of and they will instantly pay you more than youcan imagine and also invest money in you.
Airlines??? we get better pay and we do travel all over the word for training. and we fly first class whenever we want..For FREE .. by the way getting into Airlines is way harder than smaller corporate jets.
hello I am Ali from Calgary Alberta Canada, I am just starting out and very interested in the aviation careers i am planning to get into " aircraft maintenance mechanic tech" i see that you have posted your comment a year ago therefore; i am asking you for some help and or advice you may recommend for a starter
I am an ex aircraft mechanic/engineer form New Zealand. Unfortunately I think this profession is doomed. My maintenance brothers are all very experienced and capable guys and gals. However you are generally treated like crap by pilots, cabin crew and corporate. Sadly I cant recommend it as a career.
A&P pay is down, stress is up, airlines can't keep up with fuel cost to turn a profit if their life depended on it. It can be a fun an rewarding job, but economic factors have all but ruined it. I was a lead mech at a regional and I had guys from the majors (15+ yrs experience)working under me making less than 17/hr. Your only hope is corporate, and its no fun, all they care about is how the aircraft looks.
hi gentleman i was really serios about concidering a career in aviation mechanics are you guys really serious about this. Does it suck that much are people really disrespectful like please let me know thank you...
40 yrs line mechanic. The glory yrs are way gone. Lousy pay and lousy hrs. As for flight privilages ... how do like spending half of your vacation in an airport. That's if you get on a plane at all. I'm on my fifth airline and every time you start at bottom scale. Because we are not a trade. Unlike plumbers and carpenters. If your thinking about being an aircraft mechanic your crazy.
I agree with Genericbilly. You'll end up living in a trailer in Boise ID laid off with no pension, no medical, and white trash neighbors with dogs that bark. RUN!!!!!!
If you are considering aircraft maintenance as a career , Run far and fast! We are the most unappreciated, underpaid, and least respected group in aviation. a sky maid gets more respect.
Aeroframe Services is hiring mechanics now. See video
