Enjoy Every Sandwich ~ Warren Zevon
No, I am not some sort of stalker/rapist/molester/hacker who is gonna steal all yo crap. No. I just love my Zevon music and decided facebook needs another page for Warren.
Why is my generation so worshipful of Bob Dylan? Warren wrote rings around him. Dylan was as dull as Robert Frost, Warren as exciting as Wallace Stevens. f
@feay06 I totally agree with u my mom had this song being played when she was barred I felt that my mom was right next to me and saying I love u but u have to move on when I die
Zevon was a "wordsmith". He crafted words and is sorely missed. It's hard to think of him as gone when these videos make him feel as if he is still here.
From the first time that I heard this song it was my all-time favorite. They don't make great story songs like this anymore. Sadly, they don't make musicians Like Warren Zevon anymore.
i had a sandwich tonite, and i enjoyed it very much, and listened to some zevon to cap it off, he was one of the best, so everyone have a sandwich and enjoy it
all the comments about paul, he is awesome, saw the latenite band i think in 1984 they kicked major ass, and this version is really pretty good i don't think paul screwed it up to bad
I grew up listening to Warren Zevon and I am only 18. My dad loved Zevon and his music and I can still say this man is a LEGEND. My dad passed away when I was 14 and nothing reminds me more of my memories with him then listening to Warren. In his memory I would like to praise Zevon and I wish his time did not come so soon. RIP and Warren Zevon's music should never be unheard.
<3 My brothers and I would sing along to this when we were little in the car. My mom used to turn it down at the curse word, but once she turned it up by accident... yeah. XD
We memorized all the lyrics, but got a few mixed up. Like we said Palestinan Broccoli. o-o But... this song is part of my childhood. :D I love it so much~
It seemed as if Warren was trying to hug Dave, but, even if you're dying, Dave doesn't "do" hugs. He is almost as uptight and disconnected as Carson was.
I have to admit that Paul Shaffer is a very talented musician, but he is such an asshole with a huge ego and no voice. He has to get himself into everyone's performance. He is such a dickhead...
Can't get enough of it, this is one of the greatest versions of the song I've ever heard. The fact that it was the last song Warren ever played live just makes it that more special.
I TEND 2 B the SMARTass radiCAL.... but... I love zevon and the inspiration he had on the rocknroll workings of Jackson Browne. I also love todd rudgren, thinking that he lso hd somewhat of an influence.
Talkin' about the man.. Warren Zevon was that once in a lifetime guy that even though you never knew him you always felt like he was your best friend.
every time i hear this time i think of my dad and his Thompson machine gun. he was obsessed with owning it... worked for the DOD all his life. he'd talk about it. I'd hum this in my head. dang i miss warren. don't' miss that gun and the ever worrysome ammo!

@0013AgentOrange i agree how could anyone dislike this, even if you don't like warren show respect, we will never forget warren, thank you for being a fan and keeping his memory alive
One of the greatest lyricists of the 70's. Any little rap, hip hop, country or ska bitches got a problem with that, they can bring it up with me, or STFU.
This breaks my heart. I remember watching that show because everyone understood it would be his last performance on Dave. He almost looks like he wants to wave a final goodbye to the audience at the end of the song there......sob.
Warren Zevon was one of the best unsung songwriters. A lot of people aren't familiar with him and his work, but he also wrote a lot of songs for other artists. I love his music and am glad to come on here and see what a fan Letterman was, too.
Awesome music and a awesome and talented songwriter and musician...Warren Zevon. His name is not nearly as well known as it should be. I have nearly all of his albums (yeah that's vinyl folks) and several CD's. There's not a bad track on any of them. Of all the unsung singers this is the one that should be noted. Truly there will never be another and his passing is still felt by me and others. I had the great privilege of seeing him live in s a small bar in the mid 90's I'll never forget that.
@AlarusOne Ha, I just wrote some of the same things you did. He really was so great. A friend of mine just passed away yesterday and he was also a fan— Zevon's "Keep Me In Your Heart A While" is a perfect remembrance for this particular friend… And I agree w/you... not a bad track. Interesting, funny, different music. You're lucky you got to see him in a small bar. What a treat.
Excuse the pun but he's Head-and-Shoulders above any other singer/performer since Johnny Cash. We miss you both. That's one hell of a band I'll be seeing there one day.
@MrStoney - nothing wrong with country or songs about the country lifestyle. Give Nanci Griffith, Loretta Lynn or Suzy Bogguss a try for some something sweet and thoughtful - but still country.
BTW, Thompson guns are waaaay cool. I've fired a few and there's nothing like 'em.
This is the last live performance by Warren Zevon. Even if you don't like his music, you have to respect a terminally ill man giving it his all for one last hurrah.
I don't have a favorite song. You might as well ask me if I have a favorite child. Saw him twice in Atlanta once full band and once solo. He kind of led me through from the '70's on. Just a cool character with lots to say. Love him.
@f3xy ...He probably was, but Shaffer isn't exactly a music industry 'nobody'. The man has an impressive resume in his own right. Great video...thanks for putting it up miffomojen.
God, I miss Warren Zevon. He was one fucked up genius. But a genius he was, and most of them are fucked up one way or another. If there is a heaven, and Warren is there, they've got their hands full...
Justin Bieber couldn't write a song this powerful ever. Warren stands along as the greatest writer and singer of all times. If anyone ever comes along as good then I will stand and salute him, but it is not Justin Bieber.
I think it's telling that, near the end of the video, you can see Zevon cueing Schaefer thoughout the song. A telling differance between a musical expert and a schmuck.
Warren Zevon, one of my heros, even though im a teenager, he sings amazing music that tells a totally diferent story. Everytime i hear this song i think of all the people in the afgan fight for our freedom. Thank you Warren!
@angrysamoan666 Firstly, epic grammar fail. Secondly, this kind of thing is what makes me loose hope in humanity - letting some useless, no-hope, waste of space buy something that meant so much to a great human-being just to sell it in the hope of making a profit. You make me sick.
Why don't you just bow out and die. You are wasting oxygen for people that need it.
How could 30 people dislike this song? It is alot better than half the shit they call music now-adays. Country music is about ugly wives, tractors, guns, and dogs. Rap is useless garbage that means just about nothing. Love songs are all too common now. Scream-O is impossible to understand. Almost nobody sings about things like war anymore.
Thank You Warren, for showing your musical genius to the world. Rest in Peace.
Wow, what a ridiculously presumptuous thing to say. The vocabulary in black/death metal (probably what most would falsely classify as Scream-O) puts this to shame. As far as musical complexity, no competition. This is good, but lets be honest - it has very little in the way of arpeggiation, tempo/key changes, or interesting/complex time signatures. Limbonic Art- A Venomous Kiss of Profane Grace.
Give this a listen and perhaps you will reconsider.
@defyexistance I can tell you're one of those queefs that sees music as a competition rather than an art. Who gives a shit if there are more complex notes in your shit, and as far as vocabularic diversity goes it's all the same shit that's been rehashed over and over for years. This music has true soul and I'm sorry for if you can't see that. Warren sung this song while dying of lung cancer, smoking and drinking till he died.
Smoking and drinking til he died? How smart of him. And no, he is not "more metal than my shit." He is rock "my shit" is metal. Therefore, mine is more metal. I don't dislike this song, i was just correcting the guy who was ripping on other forms of music. Music is not a competition, obviously. Who enjoys listening to a competition instead of art?
@defyexistance Listening to the song, it has generic melodies and tries to impress me with a sea of noise. The screaming isn't even good.
And believe me, I dig the hell out of metal but this just sucks. It honestly doesn't begin to be as awesome as a song about an awesome fuckin' ghost gunner.
@MrStoney222 That's an ignorant comment, friend. There are worthwhile artists in all of the genres you named, as well as awful ones--and even that depends on what one values in music. War is always a topic of art, even today. Don't speak of things you don't actually understand, man. It makes you look out-of-touch.
@ruebuscm Thank you for accually being calm about it, it is so much better than the person attacking you and saying how stupid I am for saying something like that. But you are different, you layed out your facts for your argument and didn't get agressive. I do agree that there are many good artists in every genre, and that I prejudiced a little too much and went overboard, but it just felt right in the heat of the moment and I wrote what I thought sounded good. Thanks for the feedback.
@MrStoney222 No problem, man. I apologize for seeming a little condescending myself, which is obvious reading my comment now. Have a good one, and thanks for the pleasant exchange!

When your own army is killing foreigners round the world, write a song about some imaginary Norway guy and pretend it ain't happening.
Typical nostalgic Yank Wank LOL

I never liked Warren when he was alive BUT his piano was cheap so I buyed it for the investment LOL
angrysamoan666 1 year ago

@MrStoney222 What is wrong with tractors, guns and dogs?
tifreire1 1 year ago
@MrStoney222
Give this a listen and perhaps you will reconsider.
defyexistance 1 year ago
@defyexistance I can tell you're one of those queefs that sees music as a competition rather than an art. Who gives a shit if there are more complex notes in your shit, and as far as vocabularic diversity goes it's all the same shit that's been rehashed over and over for years. This music has true soul and I'm sorry for if you can't see that. Warren sung this song while dying of lung cancer, smoking and drinking till he died.
Warren is more metal than your shit.
xXbastardX 1 year ago
@xXbastardX
Who enjoys listening to a competition instead of art?
defyexistance 1 year ago
@xXbastardX To be fair, complexity can improve music but it doesn't always. Sometimes it's just pretentious.
mrptchfrk 1 year ago
@defyexistance Listening to the song, it has generic melodies and tries to impress me with a sea of noise. The screaming isn't even good.
And believe me, I dig the hell out of metal but this just sucks. It honestly doesn't begin to be as awesome as a song about an awesome fuckin' ghost gunner.

Each to his own, i suppose.

@MrStoney222 You are right about this song being good, but wrong about everything else. Learn what the word "genre" means before talking about them.
(Hint: "genre" has absolutely nothing to do with the subject of the lyrics)
(Other hint: This isn't a song about war, this is a song about a badass ghost gettin' ghostly revenge)
mrptchfrk 1 year ago 2
@MrStoney222 That's an ignorant comment, friend. There are worthwhile artists in all of the genres you named, as well as awful ones--and even that depends on what one values in music. War is always a topic of art, even today. Don't speak of things you don't actually understand, man. It makes you look out-of-touch.
ruebuscm 1 year ago
