  • 34 descendants of VanOwen came and disliked the video.

  • Of all the Thompson gunners, Roland was the best... This song absolutely rocks. ♥

  • what a fucking legend. AMAZING artist

  • dude i'm 14 and I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Happy Holidays to all Warren ZEVON fans everywhere I KNOW I HAVE SAID THIS BEFORE

HOWEVER JUST ONE MORE TIME PLEASE

"If you belive in forever than life is just one night stand if theres a rock &roll heaven you know they got a hell of a band "

SPECIAL thanks to the warrenzevonaddict and all the great work you do and have done THANK YOU KINDLY

  • is this guy supposed to be funny or is he actually being serious someone please tell.

    Anyway this song is great

  • A genius.

  • Why does Warren look back at Paul at 3:47 ?

  • @bigbadbananaboy Warren and Dave, and Paul we're very close. Paul was very obviously shaken up knowing he was most likely playing with Warren on his final live performance. The look back I think was Warren giving his appriciation to Paul. When you are not used to playing w/ someone the Front man has to give Ques of where to change in the song but that was not an example of that.

  • @bigbadbananaboy Some kind of a cue.

  • Enjoy every sandwich indeed. My most favourite of Warren's qoutes.

  • If he had just taken the cancer treatments. Who knows?

  • This was the best period of the Letterman show.

  • better than the album

  • That son of a bitch VanOwen

  • I'm pretty sure you all like Warren, so if you are on facebook, please like my page

Enjoy Every Sandwich ~ Warren Zevon

No, I am not some sort of stalker/rapist/molester/hacker who is gonna steal all yo crap. No. I just love my Zevon music and decided facebook needs another page for Warren.

  • Why did Letterman say "enjoy every sandwich" at the end?

  • @independent1rebel "Enjoy every sandwich" is sort of a famous WZ quote. His version of enjoy life while you have it to live.

  • just simply a classic!

  • @comperrage cancer

  • Comment removed

  • @charlespickleton seriously, whats wrong with you?

  • Fuck you VanOwen.

  • Why is my generation so worshipful of Bob Dylan? Warren wrote rings around him. Dylan was as dull as Robert Frost, Warren as exciting as Wallace Stevens. f

  • @feay06 I totally agree with u my mom had this song being played when she was barred I felt that my mom was right next to me and saying I love u but u have to move on when I die

  • @8blademaster Barred from what??

  • @computerrage I think that he/she meant buried.

  • Roland seems like the modern headless hourse man

  • A True Soldiers Song...

  • Warren's shoes will never be filled.

  • Zevon was a "wordsmith". He crafted words and is sorely missed. It's hard to think of him as gone when these videos make him feel as if he is still here.

  • @np02058 it was a long time ago

  • Not only the last appearance on Letterman, but his last public performance before his death. You are missed, sir. Enjoy that sandwich.

  • Why is duke nukem saying hes fat at the end?

  • From the first time that I heard this song it was my all-time favorite. They don't make great story songs like this anymore. Sadly, they don't make musicians Like Warren Zevon anymore.

  • Roland is my Hero!

  • i was the one who told roland where van owen was hangin out

  • "Stand In The Fire" still ranks as the greatest live album of all time.

  • i had a sandwich tonite, and i enjoyed it very much, and listened to some zevon to cap it off, he was one of the best, so everyone have a sandwich and enjoy it

  • all the comments about paul, he is awesome, saw the latenite band i think in 1984 they kicked major ass, and this version is really pretty good i don't think paul screwed it up to bad

  • @acadx, you must be related....................

  • i almost try to avoid these last videos.but they just too good. Van Owen is the problem. always. fucker..

  • I just wish I could have met this great man.

  • WTF only 600,000 vewis!

  • @8blademaster 600,000? how did it lose 20,000 views?

  • I grew up listening to Warren Zevon and I am only 18. My dad loved Zevon and his music and I can still say this man is a LEGEND. My dad passed away when I was 14 and nothing reminds me more of my memories with him then listening to Warren. In his memory I would like to praise Zevon and I wish his time did not come so soon. RIP and Warren Zevon's music should never be unheard.

  • Awesome version of the song. Love you, Warren!

  • always gets my pulse racing, lifts me up every time i hear it, fantastic song

  • not my favorite warren song.... but such a sick performance. gives me chills every time i listen knowing as he did

  • <3 My brothers and I would sing along to this when we were little in the car. My mom used to turn it down at the curse word, but once she turned it up by accident... yeah. XD

We memorized all the lyrics, but got a few mixed up. Like we said Palestinan Broccoli. o-o But... this song is part of my childhood. :D I love it so much~

  • It seemed as if Warren was trying to hug Dave, but, even if you're dying, Dave doesn't "do" hugs. He is almost as uptight and disconnected as Carson was.

  • Applause to privateer

  • Comment removed

  • To bad Warren had to perform such a poignant classic with that bald headed douchbag & Leftterman...

  • @privateer177666

I have to admit that Paul Shaffer is a very talented musician, but he is such an asshole with a huge ego and no voice. He has to get himself into everyone's performance. He is such a dickhead...

  • @vintelemon You ever consider he's enjoying himself and it's not at all negative on his part? Is it possible to say that on the internet?

  • @vintelemon His backup vocals stink on this.

  • @Hurriken42 it's that wanker paul schaffer.

  • Can't get enough of it, this is one of the greatest versions of the song I've ever heard. The fact that it was the last song Warren ever played live just makes it that more special.

  • On a dark and stormy day. . .

  • @ARP7777777 they set out for biafra, to join the bloody fray.......

  • 5:02 Damn, I'm fat...wtf?

  • I too love the man!

  • I love this song ! :p

  • 32 people are van owens relitives

  • @snipa37omega Don´t be mean to the mentally handicapped.

  • @Matshoppahulle lol dont you mean the devils offspring and spawn

  • @snipa37omega, so Bald Paul related to Van Owen then?

  • @snipa37omega, so Bald Paul is related to Van Owen then?

  • I TEND 2 B the SMARTass radiCAL.... but... I love zevon and the inspiration he had on the rocknroll workings of Jackson Browne. I also love todd rudgren, thinking that he lso hd somewhat of an influence.

  • fantastic....enough said

  • 32 people are clones of Van Owen

  • Talkin' about the man.. Warren Zevon was that once in a lifetime guy that even though you never knew him you always felt like he was your best friend.

  • Beautiful. And whatever his faults Letterman has a big heart.

  • every time i hear this time i think of my dad and his Thompson machine gun. he was obsessed with owning it... worked for the DOD all his life. he'd talk about it. I'd hum this in my head. dang i miss warren. don't' miss that gun and the ever worrysome ammo!

  • every time i hear this time i hear this i think of my dad and his Thompson machine gun. he was obsessed with owning it... worked for the DOD all his life. he'd talk about it. I'd hum this in my head. dang i miss warren. don't' miss that gun and the ever worrysome ammo!

  • every time i hear this time i hear this i think of my dad and his Thompson machine gun. he was obsessed with owning it... he'd talk about it. I'd hum this in my head. dang i miss warren

  • 31 got their head blown off by Roland the Thompson Gunner

  • Absolute legend, wish I had been old enough to see Zevon live, Genius indeed.

  • 0:47 for the song :D

  • 31 people haven't enjoyed every sandwich.

  • I will miss tours, I saw every show in Dallas As we say in the communty," Ave cesus, ti monti ,ti salutas."

  • 31 VanOwen fans suck

  • @0013AgentOrange i agree how could anyone dislike this, even if you don't like warren show respect, we will never forget warren, thank you for being a fan and keeping his memory alive

  • One of the greatest lyricists of the 70's. Any little rap, hip hop, country or ska bitches got a problem with that, they can bring it up with me, or STFU.

  • not an American hero....... but an AMERICAN LEGEND!!! (and bruce (boss) obv)

    I'm Scottish so I'm not prejudice ;-)

  • This breaks my heart. I remember watching that show because everyone understood it would be his last performance on Dave. He almost looks like he wants to wave a final goodbye to the audience at the end of the song there......sob.

  • @manni62 He is sadly missed... who are writing songs like this today painting pictures of reality... so sad...

  • i've just discovered this guy, and he was a man of great talent. he will be sorely missed.

  • Warren Zevon was one of the best unsung songwriters. A lot of people aren't familiar with him and his work, but he also wrote a lot of songs for other artists. I love his music and am glad to come on here and see what a fan Letterman was, too.

  • A 98.2% approval rating!

  • Awesome music and a awesome and talented songwriter and musician...Warren Zevon. His name is not nearly as well known as it should be. I have nearly all of his albums (yeah that's vinyl folks) and several CD's. There's not a bad track on any of them. Of all the unsung singers this is the one that should be noted. Truly there will never be another and his passing is still felt by me and others. I had the great privilege of seeing him live in s a small bar in the mid 90's I'll never forget that.

  • @AlarusOne Ha, I just wrote some of the same things you did. He really was so great. A friend of mine just passed away yesterday and he was also a fan— Zevon's "Keep Me In Your Heart A While" is a perfect remembrance for this particular friend… And I agree w/you... not a bad track. Interesting, funny, different music. You're lucky you got to see him in a small bar. What a treat.

  • Excuse the pun but he's Head-and-Shoulders above any other singer/performer since Johnny Cash. We miss you both. That's one hell of a band I'll be seeing there one day.

  • @diamondjimlegend He also died the same week as Johnny Cash (Sep 2003), the world lost so much talent that week....

  • @MrStoney - nothing wrong with country or songs about the country lifestyle. Give Nanci Griffith, Loretta Lynn or Suzy Bogguss a try for some something sweet and thoughtful - but still country.

BTW, Thompson guns are waaaay cool. I've fired a few and there's nothing like 'em.

  • This is Warrens best song in my opinion

  • One of a kind....Love ya Warren.

  • This is the last live performance by Warren Zevon. Even if you don't like his music, you have to respect a terminally ill man giving it his all for one last hurrah.

    Enjoy every sandwich, indeed....

  • the man was brilliant...

  • love this song...reminds me of my military days in the 70's

  • Fuck van Owen it's roland's time

  • I like wz hate dl

  • @8blademaster dl hates you.

  • one of the best and a good vid to boot ..

  • 30 people tried to quick scope the like button but mised

  • Warren is laughing at all the fools who think they are really living.

  • great story..

  • How could you not like this song?

  • i am mystified by anyone's dislike of anything by Warren Zevon. takes all kinds to make the world I guess.

  • @moebius8 I had a girlfriend in high school who flat out hated Zevon, thought his lyics were dumb. Needless to say it didnt last.

  • Dudes, chill. seriously. People are allowed to dislike stuff. It's really OK.

    Me, I dig WZ.

    Groovy stuff!

  • you have to listen to his words, he is one of greatest artist in the world. you have to be intelligent to understand his work. he's great!

  • What was wrong with his music that people dislike it ? Ridiculous !

  • 30 people who dislike this song are stupid

  • if you want to here stuff like this look up freeman2545 i BET YOUL LIKE IT

  • ild love to sing this country stile

  • i love a good tune

  • if you hate on this artist then you have NO soul. One of Americas great musicians.

  • 31 people think Paul Shaffer is a doooosh for messing this song up with his vocals.

  • @bucktoofus actually a lot of people thinks he sounds pretty dang good

  • I don't have a favorite song. You might as well ask me if I have a favorite child. Saw him twice in Atlanta once full band and once solo. He kind of led me through from the '70's on. Just a cool character with lots to say. Love him.

  • You can tell Paul Shaffer was psyched to be backing up Warren Zevon . This is one of my favorite Zevon songs.

  • @f3xy ...He probably was, but Shaffer isn't exactly a music industry 'nobody'. The man has an impressive resume in his own right. Great video...thanks for putting it up miffomojen.

  • In Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine and Berkley!!!

  • God, I miss Warren Zevon. He was one fucked up genius. But a genius he was, and most of them are fucked up one way or another. If there is a heaven, and Warren is there, they've got their hands full...

  • Justin Bieber couldn't write a song this powerful ever. Warren stands along as the greatest writer and singer of all times. If anyone ever comes along as good then I will stand and salute him, but it is not Justin Bieber.

  • I think it's telling that, near the end of the video, you can see Zevon cueing Schaefer thoughout the song. A telling differance between a musical expert and a schmuck.

  • Pretty cool that Letterman taked Warren into doing one of his one songs.

  • First time i liked Letterman was when he did this for Zevon

  • One of the most underrated singer/songwriters ever.

  • Warren Zevon, one of my heros, even though im a teenager, he sings amazing music that tells a totally diferent story. Everytime i hear this song i think of all the people in the afgan fight for our freedom. Thank you Warren!

  • this is an old video

  • I can't figure this one out...I guess my shit's fucked up...R.I.P. Warren

  • I heard this song was based on a true ghost story....for what its worth.

  • Warren, you son of a bitch. After 7 years I still can't watch this late show with out tearing up :_(

  • This is a GREAT tune, Leave it to Warren to take a subject such as this and turn it into a classic.

  • this is the only song i know all the words to..in english

  • served with the 20th SOS in Vietnam....we flew for the CIA....FEAR your Government....

  • this was the first song the I learned how to sing and play guitar too simultaneously. WHAT A GREAT STORY. It still gives me chills.

    God bless and RIP WZ!!!

  • 30 people dislike this song!

We don't live in the same world!

    R.I.P Warren!

  • the days slide by

shoulda done shoulda done we all sigh

  • warren was great song writer and i agree with MrStoney222

  • Just...Epic...

  • @projectzerobass

    Unjust...

    ... un epic LOL

  • whats the point of coming on here and bashing a great artist like this. if you dont like him just stay off

  • @TheUmphreysmcgee

    true dat

  • When your own army is killing foreigners round the world, write a song about some imaginary Norway guy and pretend it ain't happening.

    Typical nostalgic Yank Wank LOL

  • @angrysamoan666 piss off till ya know what your talking about.

  • I never liked Warren when he was alive BUT his piano was cheap so I buyed it for the investment LOL

  • @angrysamoan666 Firstly, epic grammar fail. Secondly, this kind of thing is what makes me loose hope in humanity - letting some useless, no-hope, waste of space buy something that meant so much to a great human-being just to sell it in the hope of making a profit. You make me sick.

Why don't you just bow out and die. You are wasting oxygen for people that need it.

  • @CoopaTroopa42 'LOOSE HOPE'?

I have a wife and children. That is something to celebrat

USA is a free country. I can say what I want about this cop out any time I wannta LOL

Regarding the oxygen, USA is using it all not me you old cunt LOL

  • @angrysamoan666 Ya "buyed" it? Can ya make That happen,

    Dickweed?

  • so love him. such talent. miss you, warren.

  • Appreciate this. WZ's last public performance!

  • Comment removed

  • great tunes Thanks Warren You are gone but not forgotten.

  • Genius name for his last album. HAH! See what i did there?

  • Compare with his live version of Exciteable Boy / Cadillac Ranch

  • How could 30 people dislike this song? It is alot better than half the shit they call music now-adays. Country music is about ugly wives, tractors, guns, and dogs. Rap is useless garbage that means just about nothing. Love songs are all too common now. Scream-O is impossible to understand. Almost nobody sings about things like war anymore.

Thank You Warren, for showing your musical genius to the world. Rest in Peace.

  • @MrStoney222 What is wrong with tractors, guns and dogs?

  • @MrStoney222

Wow, what a ridiculously presumptuous thing to say. The vocabulary in black/death metal (probably what most would falsely classify as Scream-O) puts this to shame. As far as musical complexity, no competition. This is good, but lets be honest - it has very little in the way of arpeggiation, tempo/key changes, or interesting/complex time signatures. Limbonic Art- A Venomous Kiss of Profane Grace.

Give this a listen and perhaps you will reconsider.

  • @defyexistance I can tell you're one of those queefs that sees music as a competition rather than an art. Who gives a shit if there are more complex notes in your shit, and as far as vocabularic diversity goes it's all the same shit that's been rehashed over and over for years. This music has true soul and I'm sorry for if you can't see that. Warren sung this song while dying of lung cancer, smoking and drinking till he died.

Warren is more metal than your shit.

  • @xXbastardX

Smoking and drinking til he died? How smart of him. And no, he is not "more metal than my shit." He is rock "my shit" is metal. Therefore, mine is more metal. I don't dislike this song, i was just correcting the guy who was ripping on other forms of music. Music is not a competition, obviously. Who enjoys listening to a competition instead of art?

  • @xXbastardX To be fair, complexity can improve music but it doesn't always. Sometimes it's just pretentious.

  • @defyexistance Listening to the song, it has generic melodies and tries to impress me with a sea of noise. The screaming isn't even good.

And believe me, I dig the hell out of metal but this just sucks. It honestly doesn't begin to be as awesome as a song about an awesome fuckin' ghost gunner.

  • @mrptchfrk

Each to his own, i suppose.

  • @MrStoney222 You are right about this song being good, but wrong about everything else. Learn what the word "genre" means before talking about them.

(Hint: "genre" has absolutely nothing to do with the subject of the lyrics)

(Other hint: This isn't a song about war, this is a song about a badass ghost gettin' ghostly revenge)

  • @MrStoney222 That's an ignorant comment, friend. There are worthwhile artists in all of the genres you named, as well as awful ones--and even that depends on what one values in music. War is always a topic of art, even today. Don't speak of things you don't actually understand, man. It makes you look out-of-touch.

  • @ruebuscm Thank you for accually being calm about it, it is so much better than the person attacking you and saying how stupid I am for saying something like that. But you are different, you layed out your facts for your argument and didn't get agressive. I do agree that there are many good artists in every genre, and that I prejudiced a little too much and went overboard, but it just felt right in the heat of the moment and I wrote what I thought sounded good. Thanks for the feedback.

  • @MrStoney222 No problem, man. I apologize for seeming a little condescending myself, which is obvious reading my comment now. Have a good one, and thanks for the pleasant exchange!

  • @MrStoney222 You are so right. I absolutely agree with you and I miss the hell out of WZ. There was no one like him. He was a master.

  • @MrStoney222

i do and its in the form of rap, alot of rap is useless but not all.myself i like all kinds of music.music is the one thing the whole world shares....

  • @MrStoney222 You´re so right.

  • when did warren die again???
