This car is actually an AMERICAN car, I hate to break it to all the haters out there. It's designed after the Saturn Sky and the Pontiac Solstice GXP. The car is made and engineered by GM, an American company. I have also found that Europeans tend to generalize and stereotype the work of Americans. It is very distasteful and ignorant in my opinion. I'm sure most of you have never even been to the United States to see the cars that are actually driven here.

This car was very disappointing to me, as I found very weak links to the original GT. The car design is in my opinion boring, bland and unoriginal. There is no redeeming features inside it either, it feels plastic like and too "cheap". The handling was sad as well, as it does not stand up to the Speedster (or in my opinion any other "sports car" I`ve driven lately...), and I will easily skip the GT and go for the speedster instead. Love Opels in general, but this one is embarassing.

The car is on the Kappa frame and has the same mechanical parts as the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky. The cars were designed by a German designer who is employed by General motors. Pretty much the opel, saturn, and pontiac are exactly the same mechanically but differ on the outside styling. Btw the non gxp or redline cars are completely useless without a turbo

Actually the outside of the car is based on the vauxhall (RHD opel for england) lightning concept. Exterior and 2.0 turbo engine were developed in europe. Chasis, gearbox and interior are american. Same as the pontiac solstice has.

So it's kind of a mix of exterior european and interior american design.e.

Most of the new saturns are rebadged or redesigned opels (astra & antara, aura). Well, only saturn, that isn't based on opel is outlook.

You need to research before speaking.. The Opel is built on a "Kappa" frame, built on an intiative by GM, makers of the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky which are built on the same frame. The Sky looks identical excluding the emblem on the grill. The Solstice has smoother lines... The 'base' models have the 2.4L engines while the GXP and RedLines have 2.0L Turbos. Essentially, all three are the same car.
