@DrLlando Undoubtedly the space queen bikini number was inserted because the director realized somewhere along the filming of the video that Raquel didn't have much of a voice and that she could only grab on to the audience's attention if she showed some skin, so he inserted that insane cut away for that reason even though it makes no sense whatsoever.
@chargalant Did you watch the video? That was one "classy" dance interlude all right! And I don't know who "the Mommas & the Poppas" are (have you ever listened to a CD, tape, or record of theirs? You wouldn't misspell the name so badly if you were familiar with them), but The Mamas & the Papas version of this is infinitely better. Raquel is a great beauty, and a pioneer among non-strippers (she & Dolly Parton were about the first two mainstream entertainers with implants), but a singer? No.

Classic. I could say (personal) things about this show, Raquel, and what I did, but - I don't need to have it (somehow) get back to her, so, with that, I'll say; an all-time classic for me. (PS: Can that song be posted - please?)
This was actually well filmed for a music video in the late 60's. If you look at most of the early videos on MTV they were far worse with cheap cameras and bad lighting. It wasn't really until Micheal Jackson's era that the videos started looking professional.
I'm sorry, but you people who don't like this...just don't get it, or the era it was made. TV Specials were huge fantasy affairs, and this is up there with Ann-Margret's '68 TV Special, and Elvis' 68 Comeback Special....although it out-camps them both. Raquel had just made Myra Breckenridge with Mae West. She played a man who came back as a woman for his inheritence. All I can say is if I want to feel like I'm tripping or have friends over..we watch this on dvd, and so should every gay man.

FYI: apparently the "dance" sequence was filmed in a sculpture garden commissioned as part of the Fine Arts program for the '68 Olympics in Mexico City.
I bought this - legitimately(!!!) which blows my mind- that Racquel approved this re-release. Personally, I LOVE it (got sick taste).
Every person who I show it to lights up - and LAUGHS, This number - why on earth is she singing CALIFORNIA Dreaming...in FRANCE??? Then, the trippy transition to the (gosh!) dance ....

This was actually well filmed for a music video in the late 60's. If you look at most of the early videos on MTV they were far worse with cheap cameras and bad lighting. It wasn't really until Micheal Jackson's era that the videos started looking professional.
