Close on them, they like distance, if your in their grill, they cant get the swing they need. Much of this kind of fighting depends on your personal aggressive potential. If your timid, you die, If you engage with intent, you have a good chance of survival.
Also, when engaging a huge red like that , allow them to swing before closing, a weapon like you describe is usually slower to recover so you can use that time to close the distance
Funny story happened today, My buddy Steve got both legs greened off, and couldn't move. I ran over, picked him up, carried him to the enemy shield line... He said "Drop me here." I did. He took out three of their shieldmen with a blue shortsword.
these vids are excellent magnus, I'm using these to teach the newer fighters in my group how to fight sword and board. Are you plannaing on making videos on sword and board vs spear, double blue, and red? cause that would be very helpful, I know a lot of the basic concepts still apply but there's quite a bit of variation when fighting different opponents
*grunt* I perfer the javelin- stap shield combo. use it as a short spear for a bit, then toss it and pick up a "dead" man's sword. Also, Could anybody tell me examples of red damage weapons?
Very good instruction. The only thing I prefer to do differently is block those high wraps on the shield side with my sword. I find that bringing the shield that high exposes the lower body for the follow-up strike.
How can I make a sword like the ones used in this video?
