This song has a little different instrumental sound than most gospel I've heard, but it's really good. Good old Southern Gospel is my favorite music and I'm not a Christian.
This sync comes from the tape master being played on a different vedio tape machine...a two inch master or for that matter a 1 inch master say recorded on a RCA machine and played back Ampex machine if the play heads were not in the same place it would cause the tape sound and sync not to match on later machines you had a control to move the heads , so who ever did the dub did not know how to match it back. Still a great tape and could be fixed now with a computer even from this copy.
Joy (nee Dyson) Gardner is still out there too, serving the Lord with her great vocal gift. Hope someday someone will locate The Downings video of 'Operator' - it's my favorite tune by them. There's a video from 1976-77 made at 700 Club that was one of the clips Dr, Gene Scott ran over and over on his Festival program (later The Doc Is In) in the early 80's back to back with the Statesman singing 'I Wanna Know' from a video they made in his studio. Please post Operator if you have it. Anyone?
Ahhhhhhh! One of my ALL-TIME fave vocal groups! For anyone needing a great, spiritual uplift; find their recording, " THIS IS HOW IT IS LIVE!" Ann was, & still continues to be a class act.

Paul Downing died back in 1992. I don't think they were ever divorced.

They had some marital problems briefly in the early 80s but never divorced.

I have a rendition of "Operator" by Manhattan Transfer, but can tell they got the arrangement from the Downings. Check it out and you can tell.

I remember them doing that song. Not near as good as the Downings!
