  • @enaj we dont need drugs either. its just alot more fun

  • @w0083e5c this

  • Killer solo for 66!

  • 自分の好きなバンドのルーツらしいのできいてみた

    よくわからないけどリピートしてしまう

  • @PocKeyxx Thats exactly what I was about to say!

  • This is THE version of Louie Louie for me. I'm 64 and I was there...The Sonics, the Wailers, The Viceroys, Merilee Rush and the Turnabouts, Tiny Tony and the Statics, even Paul Revere and the Raiders all playing at the Spanish Castle in Tacoma and Parkers Ballroom on Aurora Ave on the northside of Seattle; sometimes in the same night! I remember being bummed out when the admission price at Parkers skyrocketed to a whopping $1.25! What a hoot!

  • @dchester47 man I wish tickets were $1.25 now

  • what album is this on ???

    please someone answer !!!

  • @theblackhandle132 It's called The Sonics Boom. You can get it from Amazon.

  • @deb83843 Thanks man

  • qué guitarra

  • whos the original louie louie by?

  • @adric555 Richard Berry. Rockin Robin Roberts most responsible for turning it into a classic.

  • early punk band?

  • MOTORHEAD GRAVOU TAMBEM

  • Jesus ! I thougth I knew most of "old" bands, nononono I Didn't !!!

Feels like I'm in a time-machine - ops, The Kinks were there...

    JUST GREAT ½ + ½ = 1 , right....

  • u guys just fuked up the original version never sing this song

  • @jocelynjosie No, they added a unique flavor to the tune, upping the badass factor by like 200% and setting the wheels in motion for Punk. In fact, The Sonics are like if Chuck Norris was a Rock band, instead of an actor,

  • 30 dislikes? Are you kiddin' me? Makes me want to find those Justin Bieber-loving mother fuckers and plant my boot right up their arses!

  • @Dayga Dude, stop it. How would Justin Bieber fans have even made their way to this video? How would they be familiar with this song?

There is no need whatsoever to mention Bieber. 60s Garage fans don't think about teeny bopper singers like him.

  • @xreddragonx Bieberites are very crafty. I have it from "reliable government sources" they spend a good portion of their day trolling YouTube for videos performed by bands thst actually have talent and tag them with a dislike or two. It's a conspiracy, I tell you. Remain vigilant!!

  • Thirty Michael Medved type '60s haters took time to say they dislike this, which just goes to show we still have a mass of antisocials almost 50 years later.

  • I love this genuine garage rock from the 60s.

So raw and straight. I have already listened to The Sonics version of "Skinnie Minnie". Very good. THE ZETTLERS has also recorded "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". The same feeling - raw genuine rockpop from the 60s.

  • Warning! Seatle intro garage sound.

  • el rock garage materializado

  • They sound a lot like Blue Cheer or The Pretty Things?

  • What's wrong with the 30 people who disliked this. This rules!

  • am i like the only 14 year old that would rather listen to this than that pile of shit rap?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • @jsbret2729 nope, me too :) but some rap is good dude, alternative rap. not that bullshit little wayne, drake or wiz kahlifa but good shit that talks about real things like shad and k-os.

  • @jsbret2729 You dig the music with the soul, like me. My prediction is that about 30 years from now, music will have died, but the recordings will have lived on. Dubstep is the new genre. Brace yourselves for the revolution.

  • Comment removed

  • @jsbret2729 No. You're not. And quit being so self-righteous, music is completely subjective. There is good rap out there, you know.

  • @jsbret2729 Maybe if you met some teens outside your of school, you'd know they don't all like rap. And maybe if you spent more time listening and less thinking about social perceptions, you wouldn't feel obligated to mention unrelated nonsense like Rap on these clips. I know, you JUST discovered there is music outside of Top 40 radio and feel all rebellious...but there are those of us who don't give a shit to hear it. .

  • garage hymne x-L

  • This band is SO underrated!

  • Best version ever, sorry to the Kingsmen, Black Flag, Motorhead, etc....you can touch this version.

  • @hpl138

    You're RIGHT!

  • 60's Bikers Version

  • i just heard this is the song which ahs over 500 different covers?

  • Loved this song since I've had hair I could sit on...

  • Garage song! Well the Kings of London.

  • 29 people didn't like this video

  • @vinniedurrant 29 people need fuck themselves.

  • I am 61 now. We LIVED for our local band to play this at dances. We didn't need booze or drugs to get high on this stuff. Getting old is not for sissies!

  • @weez8u2 *you're x2

  • Madness

  • Grunge started here. It started in these 60s garage bands and teen dances all over the Northwest. It came before the Clash and heavy metal and Nirvana. It's still raw and fun and dark and sexy.

  • 'Love this raw version. Remembering the original Mr. Louie Louie today: Richard Berry: April 11, 1935 - Jan. 23, 1997. Berry also wrote "Have Love Will Travel" - covered nicely by the Sonics. Know your history = R - E - S - P - E - C - T

  • By far one of the most rawest sounds I've ever heard, it shocks me this hasn't even reached 100,000 view. Even The Stooges couldn't peak a sound this raunchy, absolutely incredible...if the media thought the Beatles, The Stones, The Who and The Kinks were a crude bunch..I couldn't think of what they though of The Sonics...mind blowing.

  • @driftz0r - It's at over 400,000 now! Yahooooo!

  • @driftz0r I was drunk when I wrote this...but I meant every word I said lol.

  • This is early punk rock. Weird that I've never heard of them before. But now I have!

  • @athompson7

listen to the Nuggets/Pebbles and other compilations of this kind of Music, the original Punk, as it is described, bands who for the most part didn#t record more than 2 to 6 songs and at best had a top 20 hit in their hometown.

so many sounds on those albums.

  • @OropherThranduil Thanks for the info!

  • @athompson7

    nothing to thank for.

i mean i love all the great 60s bands, the beatles are my favorite, but the 60s had so many talnted young bands who never had a chance.

  • @athompson7 Yep I've got same opinion. Early punk sound They have!

  • this is the absolutely best Louie Louie. Remember the song is a sea shanty

  • they were great Now the voice is no longer there but Kudos they are still playing at least!!!

  • This is my favourite version of Louie Louie. I'm not a fan of the original version, but that's just my opinion.

  • makes me feel horny listening to the sonics

  • This was the only sound of all the Northwest bands until the Liverpool Five arrived in 1965...then the shit hit the fan so to speak,. The girls wanted more sexy tineful ballads and the guys more garage rock...the LP5 were the only ones to provide both. Things were never the same after that. " Heart even lifted their name from one of the LP5's hits of the same name...just ask the Wilsons.

  • a fine little girl, she waitin' for me

catch a ship, across the sea

sail that ship ah all alone

me never think how I'll make it home

  • In b flat because it's easier for the sax, I think.

  • almost offbeat in its interpretation. worth it.

  • great version.

this kind of sound is almost impossible

to achieve and record simple fact

is the equipment available today is too good or v a v.

listen to it on vinyl through some old transistor or valve set up

you cannot reproduce it via digital synthesis try as you may.

  • @ralphcraddock Well of course not. Synthesis doesn't make recordings. ¬¬

  • NO leufeldritch is right

  • I disagree with you all, The Raiders did the best cover (!).

  • The reason the chord progression is different is that they are playing in the key of B flat. That was the way the Wailers of the Northwest played it first back in 1961. Most people think the Kingsmen wrote it and first recorded it in '63. The song was written by Richard Berry in California. The Wailers recorded it in '62 but it did not go national like the Kingsmen version. The Sonics played on the Wailers record company label Etiquette. Richard Berry never got the credit he deserved.

  • @jajwood The big difference is that the other versions' chord progressions are I-IV-V and this one is I-IIIb-V. That's what gives it a more menacing, minor key feel.

  • @raunchboy You obviously play the guitar!! The Sonics would agree with you. The first group that recorded this, The Wailers, did have a sax player and used him on most of their work. Thus the key of B Flat for his benefit as well as distinctive sound.

  • Outstanding - 'nuf said.

  • Best cover EVER!

  • Heavy guitar riffs, great howling and, and a driving backbeat, all in the moid-1960's!

Never heard this band before I bought their greatest hits. Before that, I only read about them. Amazing that no one ever played them on the radio.

  • This is savage.

  • That rejoin at the end of the guitar solo at 2:00 is heavier than 10 Black Sabbath and Metallica riffs combined. So fucking badass..

  • This music jacks me up! Makes me feel young again! Makes me want to get in fights! Drive real fast! Get real drunk! Kick some ass!

*old age & maturity can be such a pain sometimes

  • @teufeldritch I hear ya .. I remeber thosugh day... well most of them anyway....

  • @teufeldritch I hear ya .. I remeber those days... well most of them anyway....

  • @teufeldritch I really know how you feel!

  • @teufeldritch does it motivate you that i'm 17 and this is the greatest thing i've heard in my life? ever? as in...ever?

  • @teufeldritch Yeah feel the same way. Raw rock n roll, raw life!

  • @teufeldritch to true blue,,,,,,

  • @teufeldritch I feel 18 when I listen to this!! Makes me go drink tequilla shots and mix them with beer and dance on the table !!! :)) lol How young and careless we were ...

Old age and maturity sucks sometimes ..

  • @teufeldritch , I don't know about that, I've hit 53 and am more stupid than ever and having a fucking ball !!! You gotta be American you poor bastard

  • @teufeldritch same for all of us man im 14 and i just beat up 2 guys with my mate listining to this track RRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK NNNNNN RRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • this band honestly made my two favourite albums ever and im 17. seriously Boom! and Here Are The Sonics are awesome

  • This is the best version of the song. And heavier than Motorhead LOL.

  • @JuliaChekh i prefer toots and the maytal`s version.

  • this shit sounds like NOW.......!!!...

fuck, if i lived back then in the 60's in one of their shows......i would've been moshing the fuck out of that venue

  • @atlasperros

    Me too:-)

  • Great Sound for that time. I think I need more by this guys....

  • Comment removed

  • @jugfukitiy What? They sound like a post punk band.

  • awesome version of this great song!

  • what kind of GUITAR DISTORSION IS THIS??????????'' , Can anybody tell me?

    forgive my english

  • @pocketkiller123 The Sonics played at dance halls nearly every night and they had a unique, raw sound for the time (mid-1960s). They wanted their recordings to sound as much as possible like their live playing.

They recorded the guitar by placing a microphone in front of the guitar speaker. Then the guitar player poked holes in his speaker with an ice pick until it sounded right.

  • @pocketkiller123 Just good old valve (tube) amps driven hard until they were shaking to pieces.

  • kingsmen's is much better. but this is okay. if you're into sixties garage...

  • These guys were great.

  • Can you believe that they made this around the time The Beatles made I Wanna Hold Your Hand?

  • differently one of the first real garage bands mentoring what was to come

  • I search far and wide and I now I think I finally found the first "Heavy" song ever made.

  • @PlanetariumVagatio this band was made before the kinks?

  • @DarKAluKarD yeah

  • @ShenitaSheppard4128 or just go buy the records sounds so much better analog and if you like this try the swamp rats from pgh they are fuzzy as well

  • Some kind of chaotic junkie mega party !!! Great is not a word for this .... you should try this after a joint :)) .... it kicks your brain to the floor, shots it 47 times then throws it to an 1966 Ibiza party :)) ooooooooooooouuuuuuu !!! Loui Loui !!!!! Yeeeeeee !!

  • They're not just copying the Kingsmen or whoever, they're OWNING this shit and killin' it.

  • In 1966 one of the Sonics the guitar players would put on of the drum sticks on his fret board to do the Louie Louie chords.

    I was 15.

I would stand in front of the stage.

My ears would ring all night.

  • So into this band right now.

  • i love how he sings "LOUIE LOUIE"

    its like ''LOUIIIIIIIE LOU-AAAYYYYY''

  • THe tone on the guitar is beautiful

  • THEE GREATEST..love Wailers version too though

  • True garage rock starts HERE

  • In in early 1960's in Seattle, they did not play this song very often on the two rock AM stations: KJR and KOL.

I saw the Sonics do it live as many times as I heard it on the radio.

I used to listen to the radio, just in case they MIGHT play this song.

The radio stations did play the Witch.

  • I like everything! And to the dumbasses that don't appreciate these old groups, get your ears checked!!

  • Sonics recorded with one microphone over the drums and got this awesome drum sound. This guy sounds like hes f*cking playing loud.

  • Who are the damn 21 peoples who disliked this song?

    This track is awesome !

    Love it !

  • @2112murphy

Loudest & rawest? I'd say the Black Flag version

  • @Bartreligion well, black flag had almost 20 more yeathe rs of music behind them, don't you think? but the impact I'm sure wasn't the same. in early-mid sixties this sounded otherwordly loud, while in the early eighties there were thousands of hardcore bands around (although I must say the mighty black flag were the one of the best; hell, 'damaged' is in my top ten records of all time!)

  • That guitar SHOOTS riffs

  • playing punk they did not even know it lol

  • @hoplite46 lol, it is crazy, the sound better than many today that try to be punk

  • Damn the Hives must have listened to a lot of Sonics.

  • @jmesit yeah, so true!

  • Holy shit these guys rock.

  • The Sonics.. inventor of punk! straight, aggressive, repetetitive riffs!

  • '65 ? Really?

Has a late 70's early 80's sound to it. Pretty wild for the mid 60's me thinks.

  • @papabugs71 I dunno. Similar to some Kinks songs too.

  • I was there in 1964 watching these guys blow everybody's collective mind in a Battle of the Bands held at Parker's Ballroom in North Seattle (when they weren't at the Spanish Castle down south of Seattle). They were IT!

  • Released in late 1965

  • so much energy!

  • genius

  • Can't we just like both versions?

  • best version of the song!

  • If you like good music go see my chanell :)

  • WOW! This is a great version. Thanks for posting!

  • This has gotta be the best version of this song. (although Blood and Roses version at Centro Iberico, London, 1982 came v/ close)

  • Oh my word!

and I thought the original was by black flag :O

  • this is nowhere near as good as motorheads

  • @celticfanliam

this version here rapes motörheads up the ass!!!

  • @celticfanliam

i love motörhead, but still does this version of the song rape motörheads up it's ass.

this guitar sound here is so brutal, it sounds like a train wreck.

  • Wow!

  • my friend said that the trumpet player was his grand dad. but i dont really know for sure..

  • they got together with the hives and performed this its pretty rockin.

  • Great version, but my favorite version is still Black Flag's

  • @RadioFriendlyNoise toots and the maytails. no question.

  • yeah pogo265 I agree. thrills

  • I love this version! Just your basic gut punching rhythms and riffs.

  • motorheads is 100000000 times better

  • @TheFraserg

Lemmy was cool in Hawkwind, but Motorhead sucks balls.

  • the solo is killing

  • why can't i find this anywhere? I'm trying to buy it, surely it's in mp3 format.

  • Comment removed

  • AWESOME!!! I like this version better..it's more punky and wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllddddd!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I DIGG IT!!!!!!!!!

  • love it.

  • hola

  • Best version I've heard!

  • raw.

  • this is not the same chord progression as every other band that's covered it and it's by faaar the best. buhleedat

  • @TheSonicmule

    true dat man

  • @TheSonicmule sorry man but i disagree, the swamp rats really did the best version of this with way more energy, although this is a close second and still worth a listen, also the swamp rats did it first, check it out i`m sure you will come around.

  • @thrillseeker70

The Swamp Rats just copied the Sonics' version, made it faster.

  • @DonJulioBlanco2002 how do ya know this for sure?, just askin coz i am pretty sure the swamp rats did it first.

  • @thrillseeker70 The Swamps were a linking point between the original Garage era (with the Sonics), and the Stooges/MC5 post-Garage era. So their version of Louie Louie could not have happened before this one in '65. In fact the Swamp Rats covered The Sonics twice.

  • Find the the Oslo,Norway concert on The Tube--the Sonics rock them with this one.

  • Rocks! Thanks for posting it, roppi. And, congrats, this video has been nominated as Best Video Version Ever of Louie, Louie. (click on my nic for more info)
