Guys don't overreact. Your a CIA agent and the plan was to attempt to gain Makarov's trust, thus forcing you to parttake in a civillian massacare. But apparently the mission fails and Makarov shoots you, mistakingly starting a war between U.S. and Russia. It's a little sickening of a level but it's not THAT bad.

And on a other note-- XD, all the flights DELAYED unexpectedly, should have let the civilians on and fly the hell out of there XP.

Yeah, like you said, Shepherd deployed Pvt. Allen so that he could gain Makarov's trust and get intel on what the Ultranationalists were up to, and since Makarov was planning on initiating a massacre at the Zakhaev Internation Airport, Allen needed to blend in with Makarov's team and also join in the massacre regretfully (Remember, in a cutscene Shepherd said it wasn't easy putting him with Makarov, and that it would require giving up a 'piece of himself'.

What I don't get is why the American Army allows Private Allen to shoot masses of civilians just to gain the trust of Makarov. If Makarov is such a threat, then why didn't Allen just shoot all of the terrorists in the back in the beginning of this level.

You're right and I realize that. I should have used another expression. Private Allen is probably part of the Task Force 141 which is under control by General Sheppard and that explains why he was allowed to kill civilians (I'm not going to elaborate here because of spoilers, but it makes sense once you finished the game).

Still, I find it a bit strange that Private Allen seems to have no pangs of conscience at all. Killing dozens of civilians just to keep up your disguise is a bit weird ;)

There is no trophy for completing the mission itself on Veteran, so im guessing you dont need it for competing all the missions on Veteran.

Because if you skip the level and you need it for the trophy you obviously arnt going to get it.

Anyways... as for riot shields. Bullets go through them like butter. They are used to protect from rocks and bottles.

There is something called the Ballistic Shield however, that is bullet proof but it is solid metal and heavy as fawk. But the shield in this game is less protective than a frying pan.

The General at the beginning of the mission who gave you the order to infiltrate the terrorist group betrayed you by telling the terrorists you are a CIA agent. That's why Makarov shot you at the end of the mission. The General wanted to start a war between USA & Russia since according to him history did not record him as a victorious man (remember the nuke incident in Modern Warfare 1).
