As an expat living in Mexico I can say that the standard of living is only slightly less than the U.S. on account of slower internet and not being able to drink the tap water. The cost of living is ridiculously low though. The price of my duplex back in the states got me a condo with a pool in Guadalajara.
Mexico gives those who have euros or dollars the opportunity of having a better relax life and to have your euro/dollars stretch much more than here in the States. Instead of commenting that Mexico is a third world country, they should thank God for Mexico, because other countries such a Europe wouldnt welcome you with open arms like Mexico does.
